Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Dec 2019 14:47

<3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNE <3 <3

Spent most of the morning dressing our tree and then our Reader called in with a card for us. Once again it was the other person I had'nt written a card out for. Anyway she took Vron's card for me as she was going to drop her card to Vron so it saved me a journey. She called in to say thank you for the Advent Ring I make each year for the church. She is always very grateful I make it. In past years Sheila has bought the proper candles but I don't like them and they are very expensive so now I just put table candles in it.

So now I am going to go and do up more presents and hope oh dos'nt come in the uti room as I only have a couple more bits to do up for Di and then I am on to his.

WHERE'S FRANK????? Hope he's ok.

Love to Jane.xxx

Afternoon all

<3 <3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNE <3 <3 <3 <3

Enjoy your day, do you have anything special planned? Did my card arrive okay, I put birthday on the back so you knew which one it was, the other one was your Christmas card, Sandra hopes you like it as she made everyone's Christmas cards this year.
I hope you are alright, we miss you on here and hope you come back soon. <3 <3

Thank you Mandy for the lovely Christmas card, it arrived this morning. Hope Hughes can help with your cooker problem. Enjoy your lunch out.

Love the pictures you sent Mel. What a weird dream you had last night, let's hope you have a better nights sleep tonight.

Pleased to see your cooker is working okay now Frank, lets hope it stays that way. I wonder why your electric tripped out though, I guess it'll remain a mystery, at least it's okay now, which is the main thing.

Washing machine's just finished, so I'd better go and put another load on.

Morning all,

Lovely photos of the deer in the garden Mel.

I've just cleaned my oven but do think I could get the side racks out ,no , I looked in the booklet but I just can't see how they come out so I'll nip into Hughes where the cooker came from and see if they can help me .

Must catch up with the posts later but will soon have to get ready to go out to lunch ,we should have had our hair cut today but the hairdresser rang to say she has car trouble so it will be Thursday when she comes now .

A quick coffee first though as my mouth is really dry .

Love to Jane hope your feeling a little less tired <3

Morning All,

Grey sky at the mo and its rained in the night.

Woke up after a very funny dream about a white toothed deer skull. Very rare and someone gave me one and I put it down on a bench and when I came back for it someone had broken the antlers off. I knew I should have put it somwhere safe as there were a lot of people around.

Got up and look out the window this morning while making my drink and there at the top of the garden is a deer resting!!

Mel and I reckon we have toyboys AnnG :-D When MIL was my age FIL was aged 85, so that is almost a generation different in age from my OH's age 66. Your OH sounds young and active for his age with all the things you do and walking you manage, you both do come to that.....the years don't count then! :-)

The things you have made look brilliant Mel and I love the Gnome! I have replied to your email.

Ann I have emailed you.

Have sent pics of the special ring and the last two I made and the Gnome bald in the shed and finished outside the shop.

AnninGlos Report 15 Dec 2019 17:56

Gosh my OH is 15 years older than both yours.

Annx

Annx Report 15 Dec 2019 17:30

I agree AnnG. When OH lived on his own he had to do everything for himself, but once we moved in together he started slipping back into the pattern of his previous life where his mum or first wife did everything. He is quite busy at times with still working part time, so I do have to watch that he isn't using the excuse of falling behind with that to get out of doing anything else! Just a hint that he might be too busy to go to so many footie matches does the trick usually. ;-) They are clever as you say, but not always as clever as us! lol. I must have hit a nerve as this afternoon he has actually busied himself opening the boxes with the chairs in without being asked, got plates and cutlery out for tea, and emptied the water out of the trays my plants are in.

I don't have the space for many crafts. I stick to jewellery, painting and now wool felting as the main things at the moment. I also have the wool ready to knit a couple of things and would like to try pottery at some point. At least the craft class I have signed up for again provides all the materials which is good as you need space to store them.

Mel I expect it's the flickering of fluorescent lights that can trigger migraines, but I never realised bigger businesses had to have them regularly checked. Fancy your OH not answering the door, but mine can tend to disappear when the doorbell rings as well! Your OH is the same age as mine then and I must say he didn't look his age when I saw him that time. :-)

UV and they give out radiation and now most lights are being changed to LED lights.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Dec 2019 17:06

You talking about lights and migraines. As you know oh was a firefighter and they had to check all the fluorescent lights in big stores and offices banks and supermarkets. Banks had to have them replaced every 3 to 6 months and the fireman had to do it at night when the places were closed. He said the cycle of the lights slows down to the point when you can actually see the flashes from one end of the strip to the other and if it drops below 30 then they definately need replacing. Small firms don't do it as much as they should. He is talking about when he was 22 or 23 and he is now 66.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Dec 2019 16:50

Yes I would also like to know what Katie had for her birthday and we did'nt see a pic of the cake either.

I hav'nt done a thing today yet except the big breakfast and feed the chickens and bantams twice and shut they away for the night. I has all these intensions of dressing the tree but it has'nt happened yet.

A friend called with a card just as I was doing the breakfast and I had'nt written hers out so asked oh to answer the door. Did he???? No not on your nelly. Talk about help... So she has'nt got a card from us now yet and we did'nt even speak to her and she must have seen me with the lights on at the kitchen window.

I am now going to do up a few presents as I have to deliver Aunty Joys to Bideford and I can do that on Tuesday.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Dec 2019 16:31

So you are not Wonder woman Ann, I thought that list was a bit ambitious. Still hopefully you have completed the jobs now. I do sometimes think, when doing a job that OH could do, I am doing it because I am sure I can do it better. He is not doing it because he is clever!!!

I am always loathe to undertake learning a new craft because I am always buying stuff for card making so just know the same thing would apply to any craft. I would like to have a go at jewellery but I think it would prove too hard on my eyes and too fiddly for my fingers now. I used to do cross stitch but it got too hard on my eyes. I used to like knitting but hate the sewing up so stopped doing it.So I will stick to my card making.

This afternoon I finished wrapping all my presents which is good. I shall be looking for things to do next week. Although as I think I said we have Christmas lunches out on Tuesday and Wednesday and then on Wednesday we have our friends next door coming in for a drink, then I will be starting to think about packing.

They had snow up in daughter's area this morning, we really don't want that for travelling.

Vera, I hope that your migraine has completely gone. they do seem to be such a nuisance as they stop you doing things for several days. I used to suffer a lot with sick headaches when I was at work but that stopped when I retired so it confirmed what I thought caused them, those awful lights that were on most of the time.

Annx Report 15 Dec 2019 16:05

Afternoon All,

It absolutely threw it down last night so I expect the usual places will be flooded again. We stayed in too and have had Barnesley lamb chops with green beans, cabbage, broc, swede and carrots.

Well I never got all the things I planned done yesterday AnnG which is no surprise!. The bath and tiles got done this morning as I ran out of steam very quickly! I'm also doing the rest of my cards this afternoon, ready to post in the morning. I also need to cut the pads for the legs on the new chairs. I wish OH would do more of these jobs, but it's less hassle to do it myself as there would be so many questions asked as he never remembers where anything is kept in the bungalow and tends to take fatal short cuts with an 'it'll do' attitude. :-( I have found him a few other jobs to do though instead of sitting watching tv, so he's not got off that lightly! :-) You asked about what I would do with the felted animals after. I'm just doing these workshops to see if I enjoy making them first and I veer towards realistic more than cute with these things although some are both aren't they. I don't know what I will do with them yet and it depends how they turn out, same as with my paintings I've done. I hope they might be good enough to sell, but OH tends to get some of the things I have made and display them around the bungalow as the old softy likes to look at them. Sometimes I put them back in the drawer again. lol. One animal I would like to make is a reindeer as I have a little sleigh I need to paint that needs one. One day I might have to do a craft fair like Mel.

I hope you feel a bit better today Vera and less tired. Migraines do make you feel washed out afterwards. I remember at work sorting very straightforward things to do the day after a migraine and hating the florescent lights.

Gill, our sore throats ended up as colds too and it's a good idea to leave going to your mum's for a day or two and risk passing it to her. At least you should all be free of bugs for Christmas which is good. I will see if I can record the first Kirstie so thank you. I saw the 'one off' programme she did too. we both said she'd put the reindeer ears in the wrong position!

Frank how strange your cooker worked when Harvey tried it........he must have magic fingers! It's good he found the water leak though and has fixed it for you as that could have caused a lot of expense. So everything is back to normal now which is good. :-)

What did Katie have for her birthday Mandy? I am so out of touch with what 10 year olds want these days.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Dec 2019 14:23

Frank sounds like your electrics problem will remain a mystery. Anyway good that the cooker is working ok. I wonder if you, at the time, had a lot of things switched on and when you put the cooker on it was some sort of overload of the system? Who knows.

We are going up to near Workington and hoping it doesn't snow. At least you are going south.

Frank

Frank Report 15 Dec 2019 13:21

Afternoon all,

I have had the cooker on for two hours this morning, and everything seems fine. The leak from the washing machine is nowhere near any electrics, so it's a mystery as to what has caused the problem.

Have spoked to Simon. He and Sally are in Felixstowe with two friends. They went to Ipswich as his friend is a supporter. The girls went shopping while they went to the match. They had booked a hotel for the night and rove to Felixstowe this morning. His Gran parents owned a Caravan there for many years, with a beach hut as well. So it was a trip down memory lane.

We have rung Harvey to thank him for coming to sort everything out last night. I have invited him and Julia, to join us at the Calvary next Sunday for my Birthday. Lewis can't make it as he will be working.

We were going to go to Earls Barton this morning to put fresh flowers on Ros's M & D grave. But I am feeling like DEATH WARMED UP, so will go tomorrow, weather permitting.

Simon and Sally are coming over Thursday morning around 9.30 am to exchange Christmas Presents. He will have to be at work by Mid-day, and Sally will be on night shift.

I hope you are all well and getting all sorted for Christmas. How many of you are going to relatives. ?? We are off to Devon on the 23rd. and will be back before New Years Eve, as there is a party in the Village hall.

See you all later. xxxx

Good morning all, we have had heavy rain and now the sun is shining. It is cold and we have decided to stay home because the roads could be flooded from overnight rain. Stewing steak and veg in the slow cooker for tonight, no roast today as we will probably have two roasts out Tuesday and Wednesday. Nothing much to do today, just a few presents to wrap.

Gillx Report 15 Dec 2019 11:47

Morning Mel, morning all

Bright and sunny for a change today, but still cold.

Your tree is going to look lovely when you've finished decorating it Mel. Pity you couldn't have your real one though, but like you said it's to heavy to lift in doors now, so best to be sensible and have the artificial one instead. We have an artificial one and it looks just as nice as a real one when it's decorated, I'm sure yours will to.

I hope your migraine has gone now Vera, good idea not to be online much, looking at a screen wouldn't of helped. I hope you had a good nights sleep and feel better today.

I read your post to OH and he read it the same way as me about the cats doing the beading Ann, it made us laugh. It sounds like you were very busy yesterday, did you manage to get through all your jobs in the end. Your Jacket sounds nice, let's hope the colours are right this time. I meant to tell you, Kirstie's Christmas programme is repeating from Monday so the first one you missed will be on if you want to watch it. I've really enjoyed watching it each day so will miss my 5pm fix now. Having said that she did have one on last Tuesday at 8pm which we watched, but I think that was a one off as it doesn't seem to be back on next Tuesday.

Oh dear Frank, if it's not one thing it's another. Hopefully the dripping is sorted now and didn't cause to much damage. Have you got your cooker sorted now, wasn't it strange how it worked just when you had someone to fix it. Do you think it might of had something to do with the dripping water why your electric kept tripping out and not your cooker after all? I hope the electric problem is sorted soon, what ever it is.

We were going to visit OH's mum tomorrow but OH and I have colds now, we've been sneezing and sniffling for the past two days so have decided to wait until later in the week to visit MIL as we don't want to pass anything onto her. Sandra's sore throat has finally cleared and she is back to normal now, which is good. She can now enjoy Christmas and eat what ever she wants.

She's still doing the countdown in sleeps to Christmas......bless her. I mentioned it was 10 more sleep this morning, she thinks I'm like her now. I must admit it makes it quite exciting when she does the countdown. All we have left to do is give MIL her presents and drop off the cards for the rest of OH's family there, then do a bit more food shopping for the perishables nearer the day and we're all finished.
