Morning all

I am feeling a little brighter today. I had a better night, though my head is still a bit woozy and I still feel very tired and don’t want to do very much.

Sorry to hear you are not 100% either Mel. Take care and rest up today if you can.

Your painting is so good Ann. I can almost feel the bark on that tree. When I see all the beautiful things my friends on here and my local friends make I am full of admiration but sometimes it depresses me as I appear to have no talents at all. No wonder I was allocated to the Latin group at school. 6 years of Latin and other academic subjects but I still can’t cut a straight line in a bit of paper.

AnninG, I haven’t forgotten your photos of textures. I need to look at them on the PC and at the moment I am only using the iPad but I will have a look soon. Has your grandson’s trip to Beijing been put off for the time being?

I hope Jane feels able to post soon, just to let us know how she is. I hope you are not feeling too ropey Jane. We’re all thinking of you <3

Good to have another memory from you David. You got me thinking back and I couldn’t remember being told at school that the king had died, even though I am a little older than you. I just remember the newspaper headlines. A memory I do have from around that time was the whole school being taken to a local cinema to see the film of the conquest of Everest.

Daughter is arriving at 5.30 pm to drive us to Cambridge where granddaughter is involved in a production at the Mumford theatre there. It’s called The Children’s Monologues. These were written by well-known authors such as Sir Tom Stoppard and have been performed by some pretty well known actors. They are based on the testimony of children in deprived areas of South Africa and in Rwanda. Granddaughter has been asked to do two of the monologues. It’s in aid of a charity that works in those areas but so far they have only sold around 50 tickets and they are only asking a fiver for any seat in the theatre. I am pleased daughter is driving us, bless her. Picking us up takes her quite a bit out of her way and will add quite a bit of time to her journey so I am very grateful.

Well, I had better put our lunch on to heat and go and have a quick shower. I did a big stew last night so there is plenty left to reheat for lunch, then we will have a quick sandwich just before daughter comes.

Morning Gill,Mel and all,

Brightish sort of morning here the sun's trying it's best to pop through the cloud ,I've been out in the garden to do a bit ,just picked a few dead bits off the garden and had a look at the roses ,there are seven buds to flower and there's even a bud on the poppy ready to open .

Ann that painting is really lovely as Mel said you get so much detail in them ,the tree and the dry stone wall every thing just right ,well done I wish I could paint like that .

Not like you to feel a bit off Mel I hope you soon feel better .

Frank not a good day for you yesterday with your memories of your family ,hope today you'll feel a little better.

Hope Jane is starting to feel better too <3

Coffee time now I'd better give Colin a shout that it's ready ,he's pressure washing again.

Morning all,

Still have a bit of an eye ache sort of head and am not feeling 100% but on we go. I feel like someone has got clamps round my eyeballs and is pulling on them.

Ann picture is great is'nt it and she gets such detail in all her pictures. I just love the oak leaves on the bit of the tree that is alive. It reminds me of the very old oak in Shebbear which has the Devil Stone under it which the bell ringers turn each year on November the 5th. In our younger days we took part in that.

I see David has popped in with a memory. That is something you would'nt forget.

Yes Gill it went yesterday morning first class so should arrive today hopefully.

The man is back over the back cutting more trees down so its begining to look quite tidy over there. It should let more winter sun in on our solar panels as they don't get much when the sun is low in the sky with those tall trees there and with them being so thick.

Another dark and gloomy day today and we need the light on to see properly. When o when are we going to get a bit of the yellow stuff?

Morning all

Very dark and cloudy it looks like it's trying to rain. We had a lovey red sky first thing which means bad weather for the day.

I thought I'd posted yesterday, sorry to worry everyone, I'm okay I was just very busy.

I assume your PM means you've posted the purse clip Mel. At first I thought you'd emailed something to me or posted something on the thread. I guess I wasn't awake enough for it to register properly with me. I'll let Sandra know when she wakes up. Thank you. How are you feeling today, better I hope?

Sandra knee is better now Ann, it healed quicker than I thought it would which is good. We still don't know what she did to sprain it as she was okay on Christmas Eve then woke up in a lot of pain Christmas Day. She must of slept funny on it in the night. At least she's okay now so that's the main thing. I love your painting, you are so clever, I wouldn't know where to start. I've been watching a programme on portrait artists on Sky Art, it's really good, have you seen it? Pleased to see you're feeling better now after a rough couple of days. I hope your car is okay.

Oh I see AnnG, it looked just like rope, lovely photo though as are all the ones you take. I was thinking you could use the photo of the ceiling off your blog to.

Thinking of Jane and hoping she's not feeling to bad. Sending hugs Jane. <3 <3

As a child I remember sitting in the school classroom, one of Miss Brown's pupils.

Another teacher came into the classroom and whispered into Miss Brown's ear.

Miss Brown began to cry, then she composed herself and looked at her pupils and

said "The King is dead". Then all the pupils burst into tears.

My first association of tears with death.

I was a bit 'iffy' after lunch yesterday Mel and didn't want anything to eat later and just felt very tired. I'd had a slight headache for a day or two so think t was a bug. I felt much better today and hope you feel better tomorrow. I might carry on with a pink and blue necklace I've been doing the last 2 weeks, but have taken a cabochon and might make a case for instead.

I've finished my little painting so have sent a pic. It's based on a photo I took a few years ago of an old tree and the monument on Bradgate Park.

Yes I hope Gill is ok too and noticed she wasn't on here today.

I don't feel too good this evening and am not wanting any dinner. We had homemade soup for lunch and that seems to have filled me up for the rest of the day. I bought some BIG scones up the shop this morning when I went to the post van so we are having those tonight. I may be able to manage one and oh says he's not too hungry either so nice and easy.

What are you doing at beading tomorrow Ann?

Annx Report 30 Jan 2020 19:12

Evening All.

That is so sad that these anniversaries upset you so after 62 years Frank. I'm sure he would be sad if he knew you were lying awake all night and not be what he would have wanted to happen. I don't think you would you want Simon to still be grieving this way after you die when he is 80 years of age? I expect some of it is with you being so young and caring for him before he died though, as you were hardly mature enough to deal with these awful things. I know I wouldn't have been.

Mandy what a great idea to use a selfie stick to look in awkward places!! lol :-D. There didn't seem to be any dents when I looked and I think the plastic bumper bit must have just flexed as it scraped and then sprung back. I was lucky and will be more careful now.

I've just cooked a pasta and chicken meal for lunch tomorrow. I've cheated as I used ready chopped swede and carrot and a honey and mustard sauce in a jar that needed eating up. By the time I added all the veg, mushrooms and the cooked pasta the pan was full and it looked like enough for 2 meals each which is good! It worked well cooking it tonight as pasta is better for blood sugar levels if it is reheated and it will save me time tomorrow after beading in the morning. :-)

I got a lovely, well made lightweight, navy anorak type jacket with a zip on hood at the factory shop today for £15!! Even the girl on the till said what a bargain they were. It will replace an old black one I have where the red lining in the sleeves has frayed beyond repair and the red fleece collar can be too hot for me. I've put the old one in the car boot with that jigsaw for my friend to take to the charity shop tomorrow.

Mel you must have needed that extra sleep you had. Hopefully you will still sleep well tonight. I saw in the paper today that a professor thought we should stop moving the clocks twice a year as it upsets out body clocks. Apparently there are more accidents the Monday after the clocks change. I'm glad I haven't got your OH's veins. It sounded quite an ordeal taking his blood. I bet he has some bruises now.

Oh hard poached eggs on toast are tasteless and so dry aren't they AnnG. Good for you for telling them and at least they refunded you.

I haven't done much today apart from a few errands and two loads of washing.

Must get on with my painting now. It will soon be finished.

I hope Jane's rough days have come to an end now and that she is feeling a bit better. Yes, I wonder how James did in his interview too.

Don't aplogise Frank thas what we are all here for to take your moans and get it off your chest.

AnninGlos Report 30 Jan 2020 14:36

No problem Frank it is a big day for you. Remember happy times you had with your Dad but don't let your memories drag you down. I am sure he would not wish that.

I can't imagine how sad it must make you to not have contact with your daughter but surely that is more her loss than yours. Is there no hope of there ever being a reconciliation?

Frank Report 30 Jan 2020 13:21

Afternoon to you all,I am not staying, as it's the anniversary of my DAD'S death, I have been awake all night thinking of him as I did 62 years ago when he died. It is the worse day of the year for me. It is also my DAUGHTERS 56 Birthday, but having not seen or spoken to her for over 20 years, I suppose it shouldn't bother me, but or course it still does.

SO SORRY, but I needed to get it off my chest.

AnninGlos Report 30 Jan 2020 12:54

Good afternoon. that is the Tesco shop done. We went for a snack for breakfast first. OH had beans on toast I had two eggs on toast and he asked, as usual for the eggs to be soft/runny. They were like hard boiled eggs, cooked so hard there was no taste at all. Couldn't complain at first as the two staff on wee very busy and didn't come near the table, so I ate them and managed to catch the manageress after and tell her theyw ere the worst eggs I had ever had there. She is not English so I didn't actually understand what she said except I think she said the chef on duty was new and part time. She offered me another lot but it was too late for that so she just gave us my money back. Usually that Tesco is the best one out of our two for food.

Been looking to find some more of the Milton hand gel but none in stock and I see that Boots have run out and are not getting any more so I have ordered some on line from Amazon, even that is not in stock until 20 February. Probably got just about enough to last that long.

Very quiet on here as you say Mel, wonder where everyone is, perhaps like me, shopping.

Jane, hope things are improving for you <3 <3 <3

Morning all,

Dull, dreary, dark, damp, drizzly, dire, dismal, drab, drippy and depressing sort of day here this morning.

Hope Vera is feeling better to and that she had some sleep last night which shold buck her up a bit. All you others who don't sleep well hope you got some z's in too.

I had a funny dream again about being on a white stoney beach looking for a lost lead brooch and finding pink and white shells amongst the pebbles. Something about someone driving past and not coming to the right spot. I found a little lead grotesque man in lead and took this to the person who was looking for the brooch and then I woke up.

Evening All,

Frost on the screen this morning so I had to clean that off before I set off for the craft club. OH usually goes out and does it for me but 'Sleeping Beauty' was still in the land of nod! We did applique this week and will stitch and decorate them next week. I did a cupcake to get used to the bondaweb and will do a little house next week I think. I had to smile when the teacher said the Bondaweb irons out all the creases in the fabric and thought it would be good to put on your face overnight if it's that good. A new lady has joined us, but it is touch and go whether there will be enough of us for them to continue with the course.

Oh Mel they would have caused a titter on the little table you used to sell your garden produce from too! lol. :-D.

Sorry you haven't been well Vera and I hope you have more energy now. What a shame your OH hurt his rib again. It does sound sensible for him to use a stool in case he goes down with the pain if it happens again, but as you say, when do they do 'sensible?'

Mandy I did laugh at the girls using most of the tin of Pledge to polish their rooms! :-D I don't think they will be keeping that up!!

Gill fancy the message being opened after all these years! :-0 I wonder if they stopped subscrining but have joined again. How is Sandra's knee now? I still have Oliver to watch too.

I like the slab photo too AnnG. It sounds a sensible arrangement for your hubby to make best use of the golf club. When I went to the gym for a short spell many years ago I might add, it was on a PAYG basis.

When I parked my car this morning, the sun was in my eyes and it was in a short space, but I thought it didn't matter as it was just long grass at the front of it. As I ran onto the edge of the grass thinking it was fine there was a horrid scrape at the front of the car!! I backed up and got out to look. I had run onto a sawn off tree stump hidden by the grass!!! Luckily I couldn't see any damage but must have a feel underneath if I can tomorrow to be sure.

I have been busy with my painting so will catch up with the posts tomorrow.
