Morning Mel and All

Mel you are all confused LOL It is next Tuesday I have Chemo. This morning I am going for a lovely relaxing facial :-D. It is 45 minutes of pure bliss.

Sun shining here too.Chris is going to spend the morning in the garden pruning.James is in the Summerhouse on his lap top applying for more jobs. Unfortunately he did not get the job he went for last week . The reason was that there were a couple of areas of the job that he had no experience in .

Must make a move as my facial is at 11 .

Morning all,

Hope you all slept well last night. After shopping yesterday I went out like a light the minuet my head hit the pillow.

Lovely morning here so far. The suns shining and we have had a frsot so its burning that off now. Oh toldme yesterday that we are going to get 40 mile and hour winds for the next four or five days so we are going to taking the gazebo thing down to a lower level to keep it safe. We don't want it blowing away before we have had a chance to use it.

Yesterday I took some pics of the snowdrops in the orchard and our one daffy out. The crocus in the corner of the orchard have two or three flowers out but its so dark there they did'nt show up on the camera as they are mauve.

Thinking of our Jane today and hoping she will be ok. Sending love and wishes. <3 <3 <3 I wonder if Hannah will stay with her today?

O Jane had a lovely girly day and enjoyed her lunch too thats so nice. She should sleep well tonight then. <3

Worn out after the two shops but irs all put away now and we've hada cuppa and a doughnut. We like Lidl's doughnuts cos they are not so greasy and have icing sugar on instead of caster. Still manage to get sticky though.

Pleased you enjoyed the film Jane, and lunch.

Annx we were the same in St Ives museum, really don’t understand modern art don’t like it much.

I did like the quotes that went with the piece though.

Annx Report 4 Feb 2020 17:20

That's great you enjoyed the film and your meal Jane. I've just checked and it is still on here next week so hopefully we can go then. Yes, you put your feet up now and enjoy your cuppa. :-D

I just googled scrumble crochet AnnG and see it is a kind of random, freeform effect. Some things look better than others. It reminds me a bit of abstract art and I'm afraid that goes over my head too! I like things to look like something and obviously I don't have much 'vision'. OH and I decided to have open minds and went round a Picasso exhibition at the art gallery at St Ives once. We were silent for the first 10 minutes while we studied the exhibits, then OH turned to me and said he must be a philistine!! We were both unmoved by what we saw and clearly lacking in the genes that make you see and understand what others see!! :-)

David I think the internet has opened up the lives of people who for whatever reason can't go out and about much. You can still find much of interest and stay connected with the outside world and the goings on without leaving your chair.

Jane Report 4 Feb 2020 16:51

Home from lunch and film and I feel quite exhausted! It was well worth it though. The film Little Women was really good and my Scampi and chips delicious.
Ann you must go and see the film ,I am sure you will love it.
Going to put my feet up now and have a cuppa.

There was a photo Ann but it was difficult to tell. I think the idea is that they would all be different as they were encouraged to not only use different ply wool but different stitches as well. More than anything I think the idea is to encourage free thought, not to have a plan but that won't work with most things. Lol I can't even make myself set a topper on a card at an angle!

Annx Report 4 Feb 2020 15:22

Afternoon All,

Chilly, breezy and bright here today. I slept well last night and OH did once his cough had settled. I think he was shattered poor thing! He says his back is hurting with all the coughing now and he has stayed in bed all morning and is cancelling another meeting he has tomorrow. He's not had a sore throat or noticable temperature, but is a bit sniffly now.

I did some more shopping this morning at Sainsbury's and decided to sit and have a coffee in the cafe and give my knees a rest before the plod to the far side of the car park. Mistake!!!!! They had a trainee on the till and I stood there over a quarter of an hour before I got served. You'd think someone would help the poor girl get the queue down every so often, but no! It didn't help having a vegan in the queue in front of me who was questioning every single item either. 'Is the butter vegan?' I felt like saying, 'just have the Flora Missus and hurry up'. lol.

I have done a cat lick with the hoover since I got home. How do men manage to make twice as many bits on the carpet/rug where they sit than you do yourself? Now I am working on my design for the applique picture. I got a nice little picture frame for it in Sainsbury's so I hope I make a decent job of it.

AnnG that sounds an interesting idea! I wonder what they turn out like as I'm not very good at random kinds of things myself. I suppose if each person's stitches complement the previous person's it could look good though. That's good the first half of your teeth are done now. I think it helps sometimes to have your hand held. From what I remember it was a bit unnerving how deep they go with the drill under your gums and you expect it to hurt but it is just an unpleasant sensation as you say.

Gill I'm impressed that you used to be able to do the splits when you were young!! Could you still do them do you think? You must have been very supple when you did gymnastics.

I hope Jane has had a nice outing and light meal with Hannah and enjoyed the film.

Good afternoon David nice to see you popping in here.

Annx I have just been answering one of my correspondence magazines. (Only 4 of us on it now - it has been going since the 80s).
I was reading a cutting one lady has put in about a workshop run by her at a convention of a crochet Guild. It is all about freeform crochet which creates scrumbles. If you have not heard of it is a sort of 'chain' crochet session, no rules, no plan, no base, like doodling. She started them off with a square of crochet they were to take five minutes to choose a thread/colour (the first person) make three stitches, any stitches then pass to the person on their left and to do this twice. the thread could be any ply, colour or texture and the stitches any.. This apparently created an asymmetrical piece of work called a scrumble. they were working in groups and when all the scrumbles were stitched together they apparently would create a piece of art to be used to embellish clothes, bags, cushions or stool covers etc etc.
They were encouraged to go away with those thoughts to avoid copying, experiment, be adaptable and use original ideas. Above all keep an open mind.
Two quotes. "there is no wrong way, only different right ways". and "When we no longer fear we begin to create"

I have not copied the whole leaflet but thought you might get something from the general idea.
Of course it could just be a recipe for chaos!!
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hello, good morning to you all :)
When I'm not reading threads or posting on them I read a lot.
I bought myself a Kindle which I find a great help to me.
Through it I've read lots of books (bought online from Amazon)
played a great deal of Solitaire and Sudoku. In addition
more recently I've taken to watching videos on it I'm currently
watching episodes of Madam Secretary (minister for state)
I've watched 15 episodes of series one. I recommend it.
I believe there are six series culminating in her successfully
running for President. :-)

Just noticed the extra posts after Mel's first one.

Good idea to wrap up warm Jane, it sounds like you have the weather we have. Have a great day with Hannah, I'm sure they'll be many more now she's living closer to you, so lots to look forward to.

Pleased to see all went well at the dentist AnnG. I hold the nurse's hand to, so you're not on your own there. I find it quite comforting and it helps take the stress away a bit as I'm not very good with dentists. I'm what you call a nervous patient, but at least I go, so it's not all bad.

I forgot to ask earlier Ann, how is your OH today? Hope he's not to sore with all the coughing.

I hope you managed some decent sleep Vera and feel better for it today. Have you managed your 6 hours yet lol ;-) ;-)

Gillx Report 4 Feb 2020 11:45

Morning Mel, morning all

It's raining here, that fine rain that soaks you through and you don't realise how wet you are till you come in doors. I've done two loads of washing so wish I had your sun Mel then I could of pegged it outside. I managed to get a load almost dry on the line yesterday which I was quite surprised at. Never mind, I'll put the washing on the radiators today instead.

You missed a trick there Mandy, you should of got a picture of someone doing the splits off the Internet and photo shopped your face onto it, then asked everyone who's next lol :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I used to be able to do the splits and cartwheels when I did Gymnastics at school. It took me a while to learn the splits though, lots of stretching over a long period of time, but was pleased I finally got there so I could pass one of the exams.

Lovely to see you on here again Jane, I bet you really enjoyed your meal, it sounded nice. I assume you're going back for Chemo next week with you going to see Little women with Hannah today. Enjoy the film, hope the weather is dry like Mel has and not wet like us, you don't want to get wet on your journey then sit in wet clothes for a few hours. Have they said when you're going for your scan, I hope it's as good as last time or even better. Good luck. <3 I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news.

Good luck at the dentist today AnnG, hope it's not to painful. I'll be thinking of you. <3

How is your back today Frank, I hope it's not to sore and you managed some decent sleep last night.

Going to dry my hair now, mum said she'd call round for a visit after her hairdresser has been so she should be here soon. She said she's okay to drive now, so I feel better knowing she can see alright, even though she said her eye is still a bit sore, which is to be expected for a while yet. At least I know she's safe on the roads now.

No not gone out yet only done the chickens and am now having my toast. Jane has gone to see little women with Hannah today.

Hope they have taken lots of tissues with them as it always makes me cry that film whatever version.

Glad the ordeal at the dentist was'nt too bad today. It was nice of the nurse to hold your hand and perhaps that distraction helped a bit.

Jane and Hannah will have a great time together today and lunch too.

AnninGlos Report 4 Feb 2020 11:36

Well that was a miracle he was five minutes early so I am home now after a most uncomfortable 20 minutes, but not painful at all. I did have to stop him to breathe three times. However, he had a lovely Asian nurse today who held my hand all the time. Very numb now and can't have a drink for about two hours but all done on that side. Back for the second side on 25th.

Jane enjoy the film, what did you see? I can't remember what you said. Windy and cold here too. Is Hannah not working yet? And have they settled in to their new home. I am sure it feels strange that they sre so close to you now. I wish my daughter was close to us.

Mel, did you get your shopping done?

Jane

Jane Report 4 Feb 2020 11:28

Morning all,

We have sunshine and blue sky. Its a very welcome shange.

Shopping day today and I have to do both shops so I want to get out earlier so I can get back earlier.

Hope all slept well and that Frank dos'nt ache too much this morning after his jar of his back yeterday.

Is it today Jane has her chemo? Thinking of Jane anyway whichever day it is and sending love and wishes.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Feb 2020 23:07

I looked at the pendant bails that go through little holes but was'nt sure they would bend. Do you know if they will? Another thing is I think I may be able to do without them and you have to buy so many I shall never use them all.

Going in the shower now and then goingto watch Shakespear and Hatherway.

Annx

Annx Report 3 Feb 2020 21:55

That's great you have had another good day Jane and have managed most of a lovely dinner. These chemo sessions come around quickly don't they. We had planned to see Little Women today, but OH was feeling rough and in no state to go, so it may be next week now if it is still on. Let me know if you enjoy it, the trailer looked good.

Ha ha Mandy, I wonder if she'll remember next time she comes and want to get you started on the splits! lol. :-D Best get your leotard pressed! :-D Yes it is amazing what dogs do for us. Woody is her 6th dog apparently and he takes her all round the village which would be quite tricky these days with cars parked all over the pavements. She must be at least my age too.

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow AnnG. Just think of that great feeling when you walk outside afterwards!

Are they pendant bails you were looking for Mel? Did you find some? There are some that will grip through a hole in things like glass or clay.

Ouch Frank, I hope your back feels better now after jarring it. I had a ganglion on my foot removed on a Saturday. I think it's useful for some working people to have a Sunday appointment. It might also mean there are more car park spaces too which would be good.

Sounds like you did that roast dinner proud jane to only leave two sprouts and a carrot.

Is that this Tuesday Tomorrow? or next week. Hope you hear about your next scan soon.

Gill you cold try spraying your R R's with a fungiside. Don't forget that evergreen things lose their leaves at a different time to other plants so it may just be a moult!! Ihav'nt been over to have a look at ours as the grass is so wet and soggy I don't like to walk on it when its like that. How long do you get between the chemop sessions?

Ann I have a ton of ric rac braid. Mum loved using it for edging on apron and other things.

I looked at my bits I had made this morning and saw something was wrong with one of them which I need to change an ivy leaf on as it has sort of sunk down to the other side. That one is thicker so I may have to make another one but hav'nt found the time today. I did try and make some moulds from some charms and a scaf holder I have but the glue took all the gold paint off of the scarf holder and ruined it. I am so upset as I have had it for years.

Good luck at the dentist tomorrow AnnG. Hope its not too hurtfull.

O Mandy I thought it would be to good to hope for a pic of you two doing cartwheels and the splits. Soilsport.......... :-S :-D

Frank you rest that back now we can't have you out of action again. Hope you can sleep well tonight and arn't in too much pain.

Jane Report 3 Feb 2020 20:02
