Good morning, fingers crossed OH seems ok this morning.

Mel how lovely to see the barn owl and even to follow it.
Love the mistletoe leaves, very realistic.

We bought a bottle of Baileys when it was reduced last month. Don't normally have that as a drink of choice but had some at Christmas at daughters so decided to get some.

Vera I think your friend should be very proud of that card she sent you its lovely. I know what she means about it could have been better as I think that with someof the things I make. I find it always helps to look at something the next day or take a picture of it and look at that. That way you see the mistakes and see it in a different way.

AnnG hope hubby is ok tomorrow and it was just a blip today. Hope he is nt sickening for something.

So nice to see Frank and Jane posting as I do miss both of them when they are away.
Good the toothache went Frank and you did'nt need the dentist. Sometimes if mine play up a bit I swill my mouth with Jamesons whiskey, works a treat.

Jane are you still on the Baileys? I won that big litre bottle at the Christmas Fair and oh bought me another bottle after that one disappeared but I still have some of that left.

Done some varnishing today of my bits and the one thing I painted, only on the top, baked ok so I may do a bit of that in future.

I must tell you this before I forget. I drove up the drive tonight to get the F & C and as I stopped at the top to go onto the road and put my seatbelt on a Barn owl flew past me at eye level. I pulled out onto the road and had my headlights on full beam and it flew along in front of me till I reached the crossraods where it turned right and I went straight on. It was lovely following it and you could see it all white in the headlight. Some thing I doubt I would ever see again. :-) :-D :-) :-D

Evening. Well that was a strange day, OH ate his soup for lunch and was fine for about an hour then went steadily downhill and fell asleep downstairs again. Said he felt shaky and week.was better after a sleep but not himself. Ate his meal ok and is watching football upstairs, or, as I can’t see, may be asleep.. But no there was just a bang and I shot upstairs to find him doing something with the TV in his office which included lifting the atavistic off the shelf. He didn’t need my help he said so goodness knows. Must be some sort of bug.

Vera what a rigmarole that was hope you get it all sorted in the end.

Jane hope you have more good days than bad this time that was a very big shop.

Annx Report 4 Mar 2020 17:47

Evening All,

Sunshine and rain mix here. I would have slept well only OH's cough kept us both awake. He went early to the surgery this morning to get his blood tests done, but while I was at class, he rang the surgery later to check they had sent the referral for his xray at the Hospital today. It was a good job he did, as they hadn't, even though the doctor asked if he was going today and needs the results back for his next appointment with her on Tuesday. So at least that saved us wasted time and a journey across the city for nothing and enabled him to get on with some work. He phoned them again later this afternoon and the referral has gone now so we will go first thing in the morning. We both tried to contact his garage about the car today, but strangely no-one was answering the phone!! In addition to the beeping warning light, his clutch pedal is getting stuck when he releases it and then makes a loud 'boing' a few seconds after as it springs up again! :-S

Frank it must have been scary getting a pain like that and what an ordeal at the hospital. I hope resting today has helped as a scare like that can leave you a bit shaken up.. I bet Ros will enjoy The King and I and it was her good luck she got the free ticket. How is the tooth? I can imagine you and Biggles getting some ZZZZZ together!

Vera that was a lovely card your friend made for you and she should have been very satisfied with it. :-) I'm glad your back seems a bit easier but did you manage to arrange the physio in the end? I had a similar frustrating experience today trying to link my nectar card with MyMail. In the end it locked the account, the helpline on the screen wasn't recognised when I tried it a couple of times, so I resorted to their chat screen. The email link they sent to change my password didn't arrive, so they sent a code by text I could use and that had just 4 minutes left before it expired so it was a miracle I managed to do it. I hope your OH's neck is less stiff now.

AnninG you have reminded me I must press on with going through my clothes. It sounds like the nap was what your OH needed. I hope your arm is beginning to be more comfortable.

That was a long time sitting Jane. A bit like when I took part in the research study that time. I hope your chair was more comfy than the one I had! I remember it was a palaver going to the loo and removing clothing with a cannula stuck in your arm too. Hopefully you will not feel so many effects this time.

I hope your back is getting better too Mandy. My ex SIL's Lab wasn't allowed upstairs either. I lived in a chalet bungalow with stairs at the time and didn't know so called him to follow me. The poor dog just sat at the bottom of the stairs looking worried as he knew it was something he wasn't allowed to do! :-)

When we went for lunch yesterday a load of sheep had got out along the lane in one of the villages. They had spotted sheep in another field and all gathered at the gate on the grass verge and were munching the tasty spring grass most unconcerned. When we drove back, they had covered about half a mile and were in the village and being driven back by a couple of farmers to wherever they had come from. Some were heading into the gardens they passed and looked as if they were having a grand old day out! :-D

One of my friends who does the wool felting with me has made me one of her little cat brooches so I will see if I can send a pic. At class today we made some felt bowls/boxes but as usual mine is still in progress! I never got my applique finished to take so will see if I can do it now while OH is out at another meeting.

Afternoon All

Have had a morning out doing a big food shop.I did Tesco,Asa and Morrisons s am quite whacked out now.
I rang Frank just now as I see he was going to ring me but thought I would be resting. . We had a good old natter didnt we Frank :-D :-D

Vera ,did you manage to get things sorted today?. What a palaver you had yesterday :-S :-S.
I havent used our soup maker for a while now AnnG. I had enugh soups to last me a life time when I couldnt eat solids. But I did enjoy the tomato soup last night(heinz)

Mel I think tomato soup was always in a cupboard when `i was young.Dad loved it. Mums favourtite was Oxtail(YUK)

Hope all is well with Gill and that she is getting used ot being on her own during the day. Is it next week that you said OH is doing nights Gill?

Still no hand sanitizer to be got anywhere .Luckily Chris ordered a load on line somw weeks ago for us all so we have plenty to be going on with. Hannah says work has plenty too.Hannah and Gareth are off to Paris on Friday on the Eurostar for her Birthday. We have some face masks they might like to take just to wear on the train as it is quite a confined space. They would help just for a couple of hours if tey felt the need to use them. But once they get moist (which is very quickly then they are no good at all. One of the staf in Tesco today had the most hacking cough and was coughing into her hand !!!!!!!!!!!!. NAUGHTY. She should not have been working .I wouldnt be surprised if there were some complaints.
It has been raining here all afternoon. James and Hannah have gone to the golf range for a practice. First time for Hannah.

Dinner tonight here is Chicken Breasts with apsaragus wrapped with Pancetta, potato wedges and mixed veg. I think I should be ok tonight with that. last night I think I was just to tired to eat. Islept really well last night until 3am and was suddenly wide awake.I think the steroids `i have to take for a few days had something to do wit that. I came down and made a cup of tea and took it back ot bed ,read my kindle until 4.40 and then dropped off again.

SuffolkVera Report 4 Mar 2020 17:18

Afternoon all

It’s good to see you posting Frank and sounding much perkier now. I’m glad your toothache went away. I think toothache is one of the worst pains. Biggles always seems such a sweet dog. He’ll be good company for you. Was it the film or the stage show of The King and I that Ros was going to see? I’m sure she’ll enjoy it.

I hope your side/back is a lot less painful now Mandy.

How are you today Jane? Isn’t it usually a couple of days before the side effects of the chemo kick in? Fingers crossed that they will not be nearly as bad this time round.

OH and I are both a lot better, at least I am OK as long as I just sit. I had to push the hoover round downstairs today, it couldn’t be left any longer but I could really feel it pulling on the muscle.

I had another go at sorting out my physio today. There was no FAQs page but I found a little section tucked away where other people had asked about their password not being accepted and apparently if you haven’t used the service for a year you are deregistered and have to start all over again. On that page it said the password you use must be 8 characters and contain various elements. So I make up a password and go in to the site to register again. It now won’t accept my password because, according to this page, it has to be 10 characters long and contain different elements :-S. Anyway eventually I registered and ploughed my way through all the questions and pinpointed on the diagram where the pain was and submitted my self referral. I got an email saying I would hear from them within 48 hours. A couple of hours later I got another email telling me I had been triaged and there was advice and an exercise sheet attached. I should also wait 2 days for everything to go through the system and then ring for an appointment. So, I open the attachment. Is it a sheet of exercises and advice? Is it heck. It’s a copy of the email saying I have been triaged.......etc. Click on the attachment in this attachment and you get an email saying...well , you get the drift. So I have emailed them to point out that I still need the exercise sheet. Now I have had a text from the NHS telling me to ring straightaway for my appointment and if they don’t hear within 2 weeks they are going to discharge me :-S. Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I don’t think even the right hand knows what it’s doing!! I feel as though I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and landed in Wonderland :-D. I do seriously wonder how someone less confident with computers would manage; I suspect some would just give up.

That’s my tale of woe for today but thankfully I can see the funny side and have had a laugh at the parallel universe I seem to have entered. I’ll let you know if I end up being discharged before I get seen.

Ir's only me again, I didn't mention my tooth ache has gone away. I think my new dentures have been pushing against the tooth (the big one at the back of my mouth on the bottom left side) So fingers crossed I won't have to pay out to have it removed YET. lol lol

I have read 8 chapters of my new book, all about a young 16 year old going through his training to be a PARA TROPPER. I think it goes on to cover his life in the PARA's Very good so far.

For lunch today, I hade toast and Pate with two cops of coffee. Giggles has laid by my side all day, and doesn't seem to want to go for a wee. He did go for a long walk this morning with "Jenny" a friend of the owners. He came back with a wet under carriage, after walking through long wet grass, and has slept since.

I forgot to mention that a very nice woman came to speak to Ros and I from Age Concern. who went and got us a HAM sandwich and tea/ coffee. and gave us a leaflet about what help there is for the Elderly. It covers things like Cutting toe nails, gardening, housework, and general help around the house/garden. Some help is free and others you have to pay for. I did ring this morning to see how much they charge to cut toenails £41.00 for us both. Which seems rather expensive to me. Plus they are not experienced people who does it. So I will PASS on that.

I do hope that any of you are not up to scratch, that you feel better soon. I was going to ring Jane, but she might be resting, and I would hate to disturb her. xxx to Jane and to all of you.

A great film and I am sure Ros will enjoy it. Nice for them to think of Ros as someone dropped out.

So Biggles is back. Nice company for you Frank and I know you enjoy having him. A nice bit of quiet company eh?

I am doing a bake of some moulds I made and I just hope they come out ok and work. Its disappointing when you make them and then they are not deep enough or have flaws in them as theres nothing that can be done once they are baked.

I have also made a little toadstool and painted the top before firing to see how that comes out. Just testing things really.

Had a good clean up on the tables today but I must remember to put on oh's cotton white coat as with jumpers I tend to get fluff on the clay and same with fleeces.

Bet your soup was nice lunch time AnnG. Its always good when you make your own. I really need to clear some draws out in the spare bedroom so I can get more stuff in them.

Hope Gill is ok today and getting into a routinewith oh being at work. Gill does he get a lunch at this place or do you have to give him a packed lunch?

Not done much today, tidied out a shelf that has some long and three quarter sleeve tops on and got rid of a couple. Took a box of stuff to the charity shop, collected my prescription, then took my cards to my friend to sell for charity.

Home made soup for lunch I made yesterday. OH didn't sleep well last night and felt cold and under the weather (very unusual for him) anyway he had a sleep in the lounge then said he felt better for that so hopefully he is OK.

Frank good that you had a good sleep. That production of The King and I looks to be good so I hope Ros enjoys it.

Afternoon to all you lovely people,

Slept like a log last night, and " a bit out of it" this morning. Still feeling very tired ,and out of salts. I have rung the Drs. and got an appointment for 9.50 am SATURDAY. Most unusual for them to open on Saturday's.

Ros has gone to see "THE KING AND I " at Milton Keynes. One of the women couldn't go, so Ros took her place. There are four of them. They are stopping at a loverly little pub, for lunch. on the way there. She has bought me a ready meal, for tonight. She won't want a meal tonight.

Did I tell you we have "BIGGLES" for at least a week, they have gone to Spain, and they might be over a week. As long as they are back by the 14th for us to go to Southend-on-Sea. for the weekend, and provided I am feeling O.K.

It's so peaceful here today, no Tele on, and I am reading a new book, and relaxing.

I see that Jane had a very long trip at the Hospital, and hope she is O.K.

Love to you all, xxxx

Morning all,

First of all I am sorry to hear about your trip to A & E Frank and the time you were there. You say when you go to the nurse of r bloods she takes an armfull but they must have taken two arms and two legs full by the sound of all the tests they put you through. It must have been a really frightening experience with the pain and being taken to the hosp and so tiring too. I am so pleased you were ok in the end but what a late night or morning as the case may be and did'nt they think to give you a drink at all?????? during those hours it was an awful long time to go without anything in the way of food or drink.

AnnG we have a grey day here too this morning. Oh came in to wake me but said I looked so peacful he let me sleep.

Vera you must be exhausted after all that time trying to get through to the phyiso for an appointment. These sites are supposed to save time but they only seem to work one way and not in your favour. I hope the back is getting better now and that oh's neck is easier today.

Jane I hope the reduced treatment is going to make you feel better this week but that is a long time to have to sit for and the loo trip sounds awful but must be done with so long a time at the hospital. Tomato soup was my dads favorite and on trip down here for holidays we always had it in the car with sandwiches. Mum would make a big square biscuit tin of sandwiches for the journey but I suppose in those days it took so much longer and no motorways to travel on.

Mandy how's your back this mroning? Take it easy till it heals properly and no walking the dog.

Ann I hope your hairdresser had the card stopped the moment she found it had gone so it could'nt be used again. Some people have the cheek of the devil don't they?

Well the washig machine has stopped so I better get it out and hang it on the airer as it that fine rain out there today and no chance of it drying at all.

Hope you had a good sleep Jane and are refreshed this morning. Oh dear Vera a VERY frustrating day. I do hate these on line sites that fail every time, and those who tell you the password is wrong when you know it isn't. Hope you can go on today and have more success.

Good morning all, a bit grey here but some sun tring to get through. BBL

SuffolkVera Report 3 Mar 2020 22:13

Oh dear Frank, you have been in the wars again. It’s good that it doesn’t appear to have been your heart but it must have been an anxious time for you and for Ros as well. Take care now.

I am pleased your pain seems to have eased a bit Mandy and you must take care not to overdo it as well.

That’s a long old session at the hospital for you Jane. I expect you feel pretty tired by the time you get home. Hopefully the after effects won’t be quite as bad this time.

Your poor hairdresser, Ann, having her credit card taken like that. You want to be trusting and believe the best of people but that sort of thing must make you very wary and a bit suspicious of everyone. I do feel for her.

I have not had the best of days. This morning I tried to sort out physio on the self-referral system that is used here. They prefer you to do it online but I decided to phone. After listening to an endless recording and pressing this number and that number for the various options, I got a further recording that kept fading in and out so I could only hear bits of it. It seemed to be saying that it would be quicker to do it online. If I hadn’t got internet access I should........and the recording faded away entirely. So having wasted all this time I went online. Started OK until I had to pick the service I wanted from a list. I clicked on it and nothing happened, so I tried again and again but the system stalled at that point every time. Tried the desk PC, the iPad, three different browsers and it stuck at the same point every time.

By now I was very frustrated but I knew that, as I had had physio before, I was registered with them already with a password, user name etc and eventually I found a page where I could log in. Oh no I couldn’t :-|. Dratted site kept telling me my password was invalid, even though I knew it was correct. At that point I gave up so I still don’t have physio organised.

By then I had a headache but my back wasn’t too bad so I decided to go to our Ladies Association meeting and listen to a speaker about moths. It’s only 2 minutes down the road and I sat at the end of a row at the front so that I could easily slip out if I got too uncomfortable. Well, the speaker didn’t turn up, it got very hot and noisy in the hall as everyone sat around talking, the CoT I had was like dishwater and my headache got worse. I have done nothing since I came home at 4 pm and I feel so tired that I am now going to bed.

I am a real misery guts tonight aren’t I. Never mind, tomorrow’s another day. Sleep tight everyone. See you all tomorrow.

Every where was gridlocked. I am just enjoying a nice glass of Sherry :-D.Might have another :-D :-D

Crikey Frank what a time you have had !!. Thank goodnesss though nothing was found wrong with your heart <3 I hope you are feeling ok now.

How are you now Mandy. Poor Max whining for you :-( Is he not allowed upstairs?

Ann,that was shocking about your hairdresser having her credit card pinched by the colleague. Shame on him and good job he got caught. He will def be out of work now.

I havent actually read all the posts today. But all the talk of our husbands telling us in detail of what they have done (to help) made me chuckle. Chris is just the same. They must think they need Brownie points LOL

AnninGlos Report 3 Mar 2020 15:07

good afternoon all. Oh dear this is quite a medical thread lately isn't it with one and another of us.

At least Vera and Mel were bright and breezy first thing. Glad you slept well Vera as I did too.

Mel, that is a pity that the acrylic lifted. Does it give any warning about surfaces it will lift from I haven't worked with acrylic.
My arm is ok for most of the time, as long as I don't (or nobody elsedoes0 touch it, then it is still very tender. Another week tomorrow before the stitches come out. Actually if you put vaseline on the scar it stops the stitches from catching.

Annx Nice feeling when you get a hair cut isn't it? What an awful experience for your hairdresser I wonder how long he had worked for the other salon and if there had been anything missing there. Pity there is not anywhere to lock bags and purses away while they are working but I suppose like our salon the staff all know each other and trust each other. I guess he no longer has a job. Were the police involved? He wasn't very clever though as Mandy said.
I see you have a series of medical appointments now. I am not sure what to do about my chiropodist appointment next week (12th) as we go in to town on the bus and that is one of the biggest worries about infection. I shall wait until next week and cancel if necessary.

Mandy It has been a lovely sunny day here too, OH has taken the opportunity to work on the re-modelling of the small patio/arbour. We had to go and get two more bags of slate. The garden centre (which is very local to us) is down a narrow lane that has very dangerous road edges where it is like one long pothole so quite dodgy to drive down with cars coming the other way and a lot of people have lost tyres.
The garden centre itself is under massive reconstruction with a large new car park being built and also a large restaurant. They closed their existing restaurant about 2 years ago which was a big loss but now they must have seen that they were losing trade by having no cafe or restaurant. Looks as though it will be a big improvement.

Oh dear Frank what a few hours you had, quite worrying for you and so late too especially with no food. Pleased that there was nothing wrong anyway. I assume that the pain was maybe indigestion after all or a muscle spasm.

I find it quite worrying every time there is a coronavirus report to hear them going on about it being worse for the elderly, especially when I realise they are talking about me. :-( :-(

Jane, hope all has gone well today and that the change in the chemo will be beneficial to you. <3

Gill did you finish reparing OH's jeans and pocket?

Frank

Frank Report 3 Mar 2020 13:16

Good afternoon to you all,

I felt I needed to let you know, what's been happening to me.

I woke yesterday morning, feeling I had indigestion, and kept burping. The pains in my chest were horrendous, It went on and on, finally Ros rang 111 to ask their advise. After talking to me, and asking a lot of questions, she decided I needed to be seen by a Paramedic. Within 20 minutes an Ambulance arrived with two women paramedics, this was around 3.00 pm. They took lots af details and did a ECG. There was something they didn't like about it, and decided to take me to A & E. On arrival I was put in the waiting Area. Ros had followed me in with the car. I saw a nurse, who took bloods and did another ECG, back to the waiting area. Finally I saw a Dr. Very pleasant but not very forthcoming. After more tests, and more bloods, I was left to sit in the waiting area. for the results of the Blood Tests. When he finally came to see me he said one of the bloods wasn't good (to do with my HEART) So he took more bloods, and I again sat and waited, It's now passed MIDNIGHT, with no food or drink. He finally made an appearance and said he wanted me to have a CHEST X RAY. which I did. I then had to wait for those results and the latest blood tests. By now it was 2.30 am. He came and took Ros and I into a side room, and told me the bloods had comes back CLEAR, and the X ray didn't show anything. He put it down to a strain, which I can't remember doing anything to cause that.

Finally he said I could go home and I must see my GP in three days. We arrived home around 3,15 am. We sat for an hour to get our breath back, and went to bed. I was woken at 9.00 am with the phone ringing.

Ros was already up, and answered it, it was Pam next door. Soon after her Valere phoned. She had been trying to ring Ros all afternoon, and didn't know what was up.

I was able to bring my Haircut forward, from tomorrow, to today at 11.00.am. Eos got a few bits at a Tesco extra just a few doors down from the hairdressers. and we then came home. We still haven't eaten. Eos is getting something while I am on here, then I think it will be a few ZZZZZ.

I hope you are all O.K. See you soon. xxx
