Oh dear Ann, your OH didn't have much luck at the Chemist, all these extra trips out for meds isn't good either. Can the Chemist deliver them to you, mind you until you get the meds right it wouldn't be worth it. I hope things improve soon, although it doesn't sound likely by what you said.

So you have a nice clean bathroom now Mel, did you get you washing dry in the end?

So nice clean windows in your conservatory now AnnG, it'll make it brighter on dull days now. I sounds like you're getting on well with your cards if you have so many birthday cards already lol. Have you tried just walking around a bit every now and then, it would stop you back feeling so sore with sitting down a lot? Pity you can't get out in your garden but the cold wouldn't help you back would it? The sun's just come out here, but it's not very warm, there is a bit of a cold breeze around.

So it's a new oven and having it moved, more expense as you say Frank, but hopefully it'll be easier for Ros to use and you won't need to move it again anytime soon. I see Harvey was being careful to keep his distance, he's very good isn't he?

When OH took his friends shopping around the other day he wouldn't except anything for it, his friend has done so much for us in the past and wouldn't except payment, so it's only fair we do the same for him. He kept insisting but OH wouldn't tell him how much it was, so he couldn't give him anything. OH even offered to go to the shops again as his friend put banana's instead of potatoes in his text, but he said it was okay as he doesn't eat them very often and had a tin of potatoes in if he needed them. He's a very proud man so I think him asking for help goes against the grain for him. At least he's staying in doors and keeping safe which is the main thing and he's very grateful of OH's help. OH left the shopping on his door step and talked to him through the window, keeping a safe distance away from him.

I'm starting to wonder when the peak of this Coronavirus is going to be as they were saying most of the deaths are from people who contracted the illness before the lockdown was in place. Hopefully things will peak soon, then start to get better. I just hope there aren't many more deaths.

Did anyone hear about the woman who lost both parents 12 hours apart, first she got a phone call about her mother, then later that day another one about her father. I felt so sorry for her.

AnninGlos Report 1 Apr 2020 14:44

gill yes it does look better for them having a good clean.

Annx Even more frustrating that the prescriptions were not even sorted once your OH got into the shop.
Gosh you were lucky getting a Tesco slot. Not sure I have the energy to stay up until 12 to try for a slot. I try off and on but nothing doing here.

Frank, it will be nice to have a new oven. How old is the one you have got, sounds as if it is quite old if it has corroded.

My problem with lids and plastic boxes is storing them, the lids are particularly awkward and invariably all fall out of the cupboard when looking for just one.

Trying not to sit too long but that is hard when it is cold outside so no encouragement to go out into the garden.
Might make a card now. I will soon have enough for two years worth of birthdays.

Frank Report 1 Apr 2020 14:33

Well good old Harvey has been up and fitted the new cooker element . The trouble is the back of the oven has corroded away in a quite large area, He thinks this has happened because the oven getting HOT then cooling down I can't believe this could happened, but who am I to say. !!!! So t looks like a new double oven will be needed shortly. Eos said she wants the ovens moved to a different part of the kitchen, as she can't reach the controls very well. (MORE EXPENSE) I haven't used those words in a long time) lol lol.

anyway he has gone home without making any contact with us. When I went to make the coffee, he went out to the front garden, thats how careful he is being.

He has allot available with Sainsbury's, so we can send him our list of needs, by Email, and he will order for us. We have told him to keep a record of what he is spending, so we can settle up later.

Now we have the job of getting everything back in place in the kitchen. Ros has scrubbed the floor, and has let it dry. So now we can get everything sorted

No sign of any movement in the close, not even one person out walking. It feels quite weird being so isolated. But we are all in the same boat, so must just get on with it.

Boiled Onion Roll for tonights meal. Ros made ours, and one for Harvey, before I was up this morning. So no cooking for me today.

See you all soon. xxxx

Morning All,

Dull and quite chilly but no breeze out there today.

Oh Mandy it must really bring it home to you when you see a neighbour go off in an ambulance. I hope the lady will be ok and I should think it must be the virus she has with that level of protection they were wearing.

It sounds as if it is just as bad at other chemists, I must admit I was wishing we had a shooting stick if I needed to fetch our medication. :-D OH was at the pharmacy an hour before they opened today and sat on a wall and he was first in the queue. They were taking ages though and hadn't even got the till set up when he went in (2 people at a time) or had our prescriptions ready, so he said it took them quarter of an hour to just serve the first 2 customers. They hadn't got 2 of our medications either so it means going back yet again with more queuing!! The doctor hadn't given OH the usual 2 months of the new dosage of one of his medications so he only has a month of that as well so will need to go back sooner for that now. I really don't know how these things are helping us all stay in. :-S He was muttering 'shambles' and 'disorganised' when he got home as they were just like this before this happened and don't seem to have seen a need to 'up' their game because of it.

Lids to plastic boxes are a nightmare and I have the same trouble. If there was some kind of marker or tape that didn't wash off you could number the container and it's lid so you could easily find the right lid but I don't know of any! Vera I had a chuckle at your experience with the dogs. My worst experiences have been with cats, thankfully not here but at a previous address. I had a lovely bed of heathers and every weekend I would find it decorated with clumps or even cumberland sausage shapes sitting on top all over it. What a pong and job to separate it from the heather. People say they bury it.......not always! I have a feeling I never mentioned how lovely your previous garden and koi pond were and such a great view at the back. It was a credit to you. I have changed the bedding today too.

The garage freezer has been sorted better now and we have boxes and bags at the ready for our delivery this afternoon. I still couldn't even get onto the Asda site at quarter to midnight last night, but did manage to get a Tesco slot for 3 weeks time so that was good.

I want to see if I can start a painting later as all I seem to be doing is think about shopping, sorting food, cook and do HW. I cleaned the lounge windows and patio door earlier and hoovered the lounge rugs and hall.

Hubby is still ploughing through notes and phone calls but will help me with the waterfall rocks in the morning if it isn't raining. They have sagged a bit at the sides over the last couple of years and need soil packing under them to level them again. The bigger slate rocks are quite heavy for me on my own..

Missed your post there AnnG, sorry to hear your back is still sore, I hope it eases soon for you. Don't over do things, try and rest if you can. Maybe a hot bath might help if you have one. Your OH sounds busy cleaning the conservatory blinds, it'll look good when it's all finished.

Gillx Report 1 Apr 2020 12:51

It sounds like Ros is very busy making face masks Frank, what is she making them out of? I hope your oven is fixed now, that was nice of Harvey to fix it for you.

How are you getting on with your washing Mel, is it warm enough to peg out now or do you still have the frost around. It's not to bad here, no frost, plenty of clouds so hardly any sun around though.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Apr 2020 12:50

Good afternoon, Vera, Mel, gill and Frank.
Pleased that you and Ros are OK Frank. Yes best that we stay indoors.

Mel, my back is still very fragile so I am going very carefully, no spasms today so far in it though which is good. I had a fairly good nights sleep.

Gill shame about the casserole, not a time when you want to be wasting veg is it. That wouldn't happen with me as I never cook with salt, if anything needs salt we had a very small amount after cooking as it is bad for blood pressure.

Vera Don't you go putting your back out again with doing all those cupboards will you. I have a couple that could do with clearing out in the kitchen but if I do that I am going to find stuff for the charity shop which will have nowhere to go. (My excuse and I am sticking to it!).

OH is almost finished cleaning the blinds on the inside of the conservatory roof, each pane of glass has a separate blind so quite a few to do. they do look a lot better.

OH stripped the bed for me and we have the first load in the drier so I had better go and check. I have just caught up with emails and messages this morning. Trying to keep in touch with local U3A friends.

Its turned grey here and oh was mowing but came in cos its too cold out there. He has spied some hog poo around the garden so they are back foraging.

Frank Report 1 Apr 2020 12:22

Good afternoon to you all,

Ros is still busy making these face masks. She has rung the Doctors to see if they would like some. They said the front of house people have to have special ones supplied by the NHS. They are going to ask the staff if they need any for their families.

Carol down the road, called this morning. She had locked herself out again, so could I leave her spare key on the drive for her to pick up, which I did and left a face mask for her also.

Harvey is here in the kitchen, replacing the cooker element. I left the front door unlocked and we are isolated in the lounge. I have left a cup with coffee in, so he can make himself a coffee if he wants one. He will leave when he is all done, and we will ring him later at home.

I assume you are all taking every care you can, against this VIRUS. It is so wide spread, that it's only right we all stay indoors and do as we are told.

Just going to make Ros and I a coffee. see you later.

Morning Vera, morning all

It's grey here today to Vera, but not to cold.

You've been busy Vera, I did all my kitchen cupboards a few weeks ago, I've only got a small kitchen, so not many cupboards to sort out.

I think a neighbour who backs onto Mr Grumpy is fixing his fence. His children are always kicking their football on to it, so I think it's probably completely broken now. I wonder how long it'll be before the new one is broken.

I would of made another stew Mel, but I ran out of the veg I'd used, I froze the rest of the chicken to make sweet and sour chicken another day.

Just watching "This Morning" It's Phillip Schofield's birthday. It's my great nephew's 14th birthday today to.

Morning Vera and all,

We had a hard frost this morning when I got up for the loo all the grass out the back was white. Suns out now but there are lots of white clouds in the sky so its in and out.

Pinch and a punch for the firs tof the month and April Fools day.

Hope AnnG had a better night and the back was'nt too painfull and is feeling better today.

Better get the washing machine on now.

Morning all

It’s grey and cold here. I won’t be in the garden today. I’ll probably do a bit more cleaning of the kitchen cupboards. It’s all very nice having a big kitchen and a utility but it means we have lots of cupboards and somehow they are all full. At least I’ve got plenty of spare time at the moment so I can sort a couple a day. OH said he would help me but so far he hasn’t and this morning he’s shut himself in the study again. I’ve changed 2 beds and got the bedding in the wash so that will be ready soon.

I hope your back is easier now AnnG and hope you are all feeling OK today. Stay safe and have a good day.

P.S. Sorry to hear about your neighbour Mandy. She must be quite ill if they have taken her to hospital. I hope she makes a quick recovery.

Gill you could have thrown all the gravy and stuff away and started again with the chicken.

Gillx Report 31 Mar 2020 21:09

That's not good Mandy I hope she hasn't caught the Coronavirus. It looks like it's effecting everyone now not just the people with underline health issues. I use those Chinese take away boxes for freezing food, I used one today to freeze some of the left over chicken from yesterday.

I've been baking today and made a Victoria Sponge, OH will enjoy some when he's in from work.

I finished all my sewing although putting the loops on OH's trousers took a while, it was really tricky with them being so small, but I finally did them. I just hope he's not to rough with them and they come off.

Love the cross stitch Jane and the bread. I haven't started any of my craft kits yet with being busy with other things, but I'm hoping to start some soon.

I hope your back is starting to feel a little better AnnG, it must be awkward to do things if it's sore. 27 is no age is it, I feel so sorry for his parents, thankfully he didn't pass it on to your neighbour's son.

All your makes are lovely Mel, you are very clever.

I made a chicken stew today and when I went to put some salt in the lid came off, needless to say I had to throw it away, never mind the cake I made was nice :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Mar 2020 21:06

O my goodness Mandy thats close if it is it with your neighbour. It may be something else though. I hope she is ok.

AnnG lets hope you get a good nights sleep tonight. Try to stay in one position like you did last night. I always sleep on my right side and wake up in the same position.

AnninGlos Report 31 Mar 2020 20:16

Oh dear Mandy. Presumably if she is that age she has been out and about to catch it. I hope she recovers.

Yes it is so painful, don’t know what causes it. Long time since I had anything as bad a that.

Annx my back has been better today but has got a bit more painful this evening. I guess it doesn’t like me sitting too long.
OH has not mentioned his head today or at least he hadn’t until he walked under a new piece he had put onto trellis and it was lower than the old.

I prefer the genuine Epsom because of printing photos but Indo expect them to work as they are not cheap. I have used compatible but some printers don’t like it. My old HP used to comment when the ink was not HP.
Mandy yes I could do that with ink but we do buy on line usually cheaper than Cuurys.

I use to save the chinese take away boxes Mel but now they use the foil tubs with the cardboard lids ,the plastic boxes were quite solid and sturdy and were ideal for the freezer .
