Glad yours too is better Vera. It makes it so hard to eat anything and enjoy it.

Very breezey here too and its cold. It seems to be coming from the east here and I know Suffolk can get that very cold wind fromt he east. It used to blow across our garden when I went down to feed the chickens when I lived in suffolk.

Morning Mel and all

Alternate sun and cloud here and it still looks very breezy. OH has been out and came back with very cold hands so I guess it’s still quite chilly. I’m just about to put some sheets in the wash as I think it might be a good drying day.

I’m glad your mouth feels a little bit better Mel. I think mine does too.

Enjoy your day everyone

I don't like Keith Lemon either but I have watched a bit of some of his shows. I think he is sooooo rude but the young ones seem to like that sort of thing.

We had chinese tonight and it was lovely all from Asda.

Wow what a woman Ann, amazing all the things she's done and I thought I did a lot, she puts me to shame. Fancy getting the date wrong for your session, at least you and the other lady had a good chat.

Oh dear Vera you've had a time of it lately, I hope things improve for you soon and your headache goes quickly.

I hope your mouth starts feeling better soon Mel, putting salt on will help but if it's to painful and you can't bring yourself to do it then the Corsodyl should work.

Did anyone watch Keith Lemon's Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft? , Eamonn Holmes was choosing which one he liked for his garden, he chose a table with a water feature in the middle, I like the blue plastic one that reflected the picture onto the floor when the sun shone through it. I don't really like Keith Lemon so I thought it was going to be rubbish, but it was really good, I'm looking forward to the next one now. It's on Sunday 8pm channel 4 if anyone's interested.

My hair is beginning to develop those 'Marcel' waves Vera. My hairdresser always smiles when I tell her they are coming. :-) I also have the start of a 'wing' where my fringe is swept to one side like AnnG describes and I've started to tuck the sides behind my ears. Hubby has offered to trim the back, but would you let a man loose on yours when he can't even get the suction soap dish level in the bathroom? :-0 That'll be a 'no' then! What a shame you are getting this head pain and were shaky and had to go to bed. I hope you feel a bit better now. I went a bit dizzy in the shower the other day. The only recent change was keeping up my hayfever tablets and when I read the leaflet it said they could cause it. I've seemed ok since. To be honest I think we are all under some stress for one reason or another with the circumstances just now.

Mel the 'wipe' days take ages don't they. Then the bin days are wipe days too.

OH has come out in a rash on his lower legs. He sat out in the sun in some ancient shorts he found a couple of days ago and it has happened before in the past so he must be allergic to the sun. It never seems to happen on his arms though. As we have bungalows either side and he often pegs out washing in his jim jams early in the morning I told him to make sure his 'giblets' are well covered if it is sunny!!

Oh dear Ann a definite senior moment that was. Still you had a nice chat.
Our anniversary is the 27th August.
Masked ‘ball’ :-D many a true word spoken in Jest!
Your pork meal sounds tasty.

Vera my hair has grown downwards and out and up it is so thick now and where it is normally short over my ears it is now ‘wings’. I don’t know what to do with it, very tempting to hack it off but trying to resist.

Mandy naughty blackbirds. We seem to have bathing parties in the afternoons, the birds almost queue up to have a dip in the water feature. In a very short time blackbirds, sparrows and a Robin all had a dip.

Ann at least you had a good chat with someone new even if you both missed the session. I hope you will keep in touch with the lady.

Vera my mouth is still a bit sore and rubbing on my denture. I think it may have been an ulser. I used to get a lot of those when I was young. My grandad always told me to put salt on it. I nearly hit the roof but it worked. Not sure if I am bold enough to do that now. I use te corsodyl.

I have been up in the border this afternoon and just come down for a drink and to feed the chickens and bantams their corn.

Good afternoon all

What a shame you have had to cancel your trip AnnG. You will have to have a lovely little celebration at home with just the two of you on the day and, of course, we’ll all be raising a glass to you. You can then book a special holiday when the time is right.

Ann, I’m wondering what my hair, and OH’s, is going to look like by July as well. Mine is short and thick but as it starts to get longer it tends to go into some very old fashioned waves. It’s beginning to feel too long already. Fancy getting your Zoom day wrong but at least you had a nice chat with someone new. I was sorry to hear about your friend’s husband and hope trying to arrange a funeral at this time doesn’t cause her too much stress. She sounds a very capable lady.

I hope your foot/ankle is feeling a bit better Frank. I bet Ros is still busy sewing - you’d be millionaires by now if she charged for all the work she does. I hope people appreciate all her efforts. Thanks for the sweet video of the little bird.

Have you found out what your pine is, Jane? I guess it’s a black pine but I wouldn’t have a clue what variety.

Well done on sorting your router out Gill.

It’s not been a good couple of days. I woke yesterday feeling very shaky and with the pain in my head back again. It feels as though it’s right in the bones of the skull. I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up my meds. OH drove me so he could drop me right outside. He then went to the nearest car park and I only had to walk back from the chemist to the car. We got back and I spent most of the day in bed.

Then I took a call from OH’s youngest sister to say that her husband had been taken to hospital at the weekend with a heart attack. In the flurry of getting him off to hospital she didn’t think to pack his mobile phone and can’t go to see him at the moment so is having to rely on one of the nurses in the CCU answering the phone and being able to tell her how he is.

Looking on the positive side I think, fingers crossed, that my mouth is a bit less painful today. How’s your sore mouth now Mel?

OH has taken our friend to and from hospital for his chemo today and will do the same tomorrow. I’m not really happy about it but the friend doesn’t trust any of his own family as he says they haven’t been careful enough about keeping a distance and not mixing with others. If my OH won’t take him he says he will have to drive himself and he really isn’t safe to do that - he’s already had one “funny turn” at the wheel. If he drove and had an accident injuring himself or, even worse, someone else my OH wouldn’t forgive himself, so he does the driving and I send him off with hand gel, wipes and a face mask in case he has to get out of the car, which he hasn’t had to do yet. When he gets back the car practically gets bathed in Dettol.

Well the old man is back from hospital and has wiped the car down so I had better make him a cuppa. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll find some happy news instead of making you read all this doom and gloom. Take care folks and stay safe.

Afternoon All,

A day of extremes, bright sun then freezing and windy. I slept like a log last night too Mel, so at least 2 of us had plenty of Zzzzz! I have ordered some lettuce seeds on line and they should arrive by next tuesday and they are the cut and come again mix I have had for a few years now, just like yours! The hearting types tend to bolt all at once don't they so don't last as well as these. I like the variety with some red leaves too. I put my plants outside to harden off this morning but they are all back inside now.

I made 4 meals of somerset pork today with lots of veg in them including a small bag of the spinach I froze before. The 2 I shall freeze will save me time another day. We had bought scones after and I used some of the leftover fromage frais instead of cream in them but they were still very nice.

Oh Mandy those little tinkers pulling your plants out of your hanging baskets! Mel's idea sounds a good one to stop them. You will have to put them their own basket up filled with bits of wool, dried grass and fluff!!

That was a shame having to cancel your wedding anniversary holiday AnnG. Gwyn was right though in that you have the most important thing.....each other. You will have to come up with some new ideas how to celebrate it. My first thought that came into my head was a 'masked ball' at home!! Please excuse my inappropriate sense of humour, it just comes out and I do realise what a terrible disappointment it must be with being your Diamond Anniversary too. It was sad your mum never quite made it to her celebrations. Please let us know the date so I can at least send you a card.

I did a silly thing today......losing my marbles again! There was a sewing session on Zoom like the others I have done, so I signed in and one lady was already there. We had quite a chat and she said she was in Cornwall, but no-one else arrived, not even the teacher. After nearly half an hour she checked the date and we discovered the session was yesterday! lol. :-0

Gill, the lady's husband had a stroke at age 45, so she has done lots of DIY herself too. She still makes lovely dresses, crochets cardigans and is a great cook. She has shown us beautifully made bedding sets with matching curtains. Her garden is long enough for competition archery practice as she represented GB years ago and she does a lot of the garden herself now and grows most veg. She sealed a leak in her conservatory roof herself recently, yet she has arthritis in her shoulder and has had a bone removed from her hand. She was still towing a 16 foot caravan till last year and would have still been doing it if her husband had been well enough. She puts me to shame with all she still manages to do.

The Pigeons and Magpies seem to be in our garden every day now looking for grubs and things, oh and drinking from my little water filled pot with the lily.

Afternoon all

Sunny here but a bit of a cold wind with it, so not the weather for sitting outside with my cuppa today. It's getting cloudier by the minute so I'm expecting a bit of rain soon.

I'm so pleased I did the router yesterday, I forgot I had to submit my metre readings today, so that's been done and I've had a text letting me know their will order my fibre by 30th June. I thought it was the 15th May, that's what it said on the letter. It could be because I'm a bit later than everyone else swapping the routers over.

You've been very busy today Mel, good job you had a good nights sleep to give you the energy to tackle your jobs.

Sorry to hear about your friend's husband passing away Ann. She sounds very active for 77 moving all the furniture out of the room to make way for the double bed. I hope you had a better nights sleep last night. Good idea for your OH not to climb near the greenhouse and wait until the water butt is empty before cutting back the Ivy. With little rain around it won't be long before all the rain water has gone and he can do the job safely.

What a shame you've had to cancel your Diamond Wedding holiday to Lanzarote AnnG, but like it's been said you still have each other which is the main thing and you'll enjoy your holiday at a later date more knowing it's safe to go. Sorry to hear you mum passed away a month before her celebration.

I hope the Blackbird hasn't destroyed all your baskets Mandy, I noticed a Blackbird collecting bits from our border for his nest the other day, the worse is when they take the moss out of the gutter and make a right mess outside the back door. At least it saves OH having to clean the gutters but gives me a job of brushing it all up. Maybe Max was telling you, you needed to re-pot the plant, bless him trying to help.

It sounds like Ros is still busy with her sewing Frank, with everyone needing masks now she might be even busier soon.

I had such a busy day yesterday I didn't have a chance to come back on here. At least the router is working today, so I know I can chat with you all again.

Good afternoon, sunny here but windy as well and still only 11 degrees outside.

I had a few bits from our neighbour to wipe down and I dusted and polished lounge and dining room, found a silver cleaning cloth in the cupboard so cleaned a silver tray and a few silver spoons. Other than that just read the paper on line and went on facebook and on here. So not done much really. Going to have lunch now.

Morning All,

Bright sun and a very frosty m orning here. The suns just burning it off the grass so I am pleased I put my tender plants in the shed last night. Plenty of blue sky with just a touch of long wispy clouds if you can call them that. Not much of a breeze either. Better than the cold wind yesterday.

Wipe down day today which will probably take up most of the morning till lunch time. I hav'nt worked out yet whether its worse than going and getting the shopping and lugging it in the trolley then out of the trolly then into bags and then out of the bags to put away.

Slept like a log last night and hope you all had a good night too or at least got a few hours in.

O AnnG how sad your mum died a month before the celebrations.

Mandy you'll have to put some thread around your basket chains to stop the birds turfing thing out. I had some tumbler tomatoes in a basket once and the blackbirds ate the toms as they ripened.

Hi to Gwyn ~~~

Ann its not too late to sow Lettuce. I like the cut and come again ones, can't think of the name just now. They are red and green with curly leaves. Did'nt get my tom plant in its pot today after all but its ready to go tomorrow after all the wiping down and putting away of the shopping. I did feed the strawberries today though. Took apart a wreath I was given back from Em and another arraangment that was on the bench. Swept all the bench and now its all tidy for the next lot of stuff. I may clean the windows in there tomorrow.

Its very very cold out there tonight so I left the sweet peas and million bells in the shed today.

Yes of course Gwyn. It is a small thing among all the sadness around and as you say we are lucky to have each other. I am sort of haunted by the memory of my parents. With all the organisation of their diamond wedding anniversary party under control, my mum died a month before the day.
