I read out your post to oh Vera he said what happens if you buy a bag of peas? I know its only counted as one item but it made me laugh.
Is that from Tesco as I don't know if I have a limit on how many items I can have from Asda.

Mel, I did a double take when I read your post. I didn't have my glasses on and read that you had the window in the bedpan open. No wonder the room smelt like a dung heap ;-)
You have to be a canny shopper with the 80 item limit don't you Ann? Things I would normally pick up loose I now buy in a pack e.g. 4 loose parsnips count as 4 items but a prepack of parsnips is only 1 item... and why would a dozen eggs in 2 six packs count as 2 items but a dozen in one box count as 1? OH likes it if I get him some beer but he has to wait till I am sure I've got all the food and cleaning stuff ordered and then see how many items I have spare. I've just completed my order for tomorrow and have got him 4 bottles which brought me to 79 items. I'm trying to persuade him to forgo the bitter and become a lager drinker as I can get a whole box of 24 cans of lager and it still only counts as 1 item. I suppose eventually things will get back to some sort of normality.
I told OH that you had all sent birthday greetings to him and he's asked me to thank you.

I have had both the window in the bedopen and the bathroom for a bit of fresh air. Someone is manure spreading and both rooms smell like dung heaps. Needless to say I have now shut both and sprayed the rooms. :-S :-S :-S

ack again. tesco man was on time arrived 10.10 I did an hour and a half wiping this morning then another half hour thiss afternoon and there are a few bit in bags I will leave until tomorrow. Not in carier bags this time just thinner plastic ones that are good for rubbish bags. So they are out in the sun in the conservatory where they will stay for three or four days by which time I won't feel I have to disinfect about 20 bags. Very good, nothing missing, a few subs but all ok and £5 knocked off the total for price match. Next one 9 days time. Trouble is I do have trouble keeping items down to total of 80 with the slots being quite far apart, After I had done that and we'd had coffee we drove round to the local garden centre to give the car a run and to pick up a few more plants. Got a fe reduced which is good then stopped at a small new shopping centre (only a coop and a hairdressers there so only a few cars. I used the cash machine which was very convenient. No queues and nobody around.
tired now though OH pottering with the plants we bought so I had better go and see what he is doing.

Mandy if you remember rightly on my first order I asked for 4 pints of semi and they sent me two pints of goats milk!! I sent that back becasue after having my own goats and one was a maiden milker I used to use a lot of goats milk but Katies was lovely milk. The stuff you get in the shops is nothing like it.
I am now going to wsh up and then go in the garden and make some room in my shed for all this compost I had delivered.

Afternoon all,
Belated birthday wishes to your OH Vera sounds as if you both enjoyed the lovely cake . Oh dear Colin is the same i have to be behind him when the post comes and make sure he doesn't just lay the post down on the side like he usually does .
Oh Jane i'm sorry your feeling so down ,not long until Tuesday ,it's good you have the face to face consultation it's much better to ask questions face to face than over the phone . Have a lovely day tomorrow with your sister and BIL .
We had to pick up Max's Flea and Wormer tablets from the vets today ,i had to ring when we got there and they came out and put the bag on the table . When i rang to order them i asked about his boaster injection for this year ,they are leaving all boasters for three months after they are due and then they will do them . When we went to the vets they have road works and the road is shut outside the vets but you can drive into the vets but i had to drive round some metal barriers and it was at a funny angle and i caught the side of the car ,we now have some scratches down the side of the car ,Colin thinks they might just rub out with a bit of luck .
It will seem very strange when we can shop and just put it all away this wiping down seems to take for ever .
Mel fancy Asda not having milk ,i think we use about eight pints a week too as we both have a lot of cereal .
Ann i have a tiny watering can i use ,i usually half fill a big can and then fill the little one from that ,it's a devil to lift a bigger one up to water hanging baskets . hope your side is feeling a little easier today .
Gill how did OH get on on his job hunt ? hope he soon finds some thing .

This thread was started on 25th April 2008. Has been scrubbed out twice but is still managing to carry on 2 years and one month later.
So in actual fact it has been going for twelve years and I forgot to put up its birthday on the 25th April for some reason.

I think your weather thingy must have sun shining direct on it. 42.7 is near enough 109 deg Fahrenheit :-S. That would be an all time record for the UK :-D. The sun never did break through much here. It’s a fairly comfortable 21deg. but it’s overcast.
I got the ironing and a couple of other jobs done and hope to do a bit in the garden this afternoon. I’ve got a very easy meal tonight. OH is having pizza and I’ll probably have something like eggs on toast.
I’ve just had a go at OH. The post came. He picked up a birthday card, opened it, put the envelope down and immediately rubbed his eyes. I yelled at him to wash his hands but he goes into automatic pilot and forgets to think. Men :-|
Mel, I’ve just noticed the date on the first post on this thread - exactly 10 years ago.

I have been to the shop and just as I drove to the crossrads a Mole Valley van came towards me. I waited and he drove into ours so no phone call to say it was coming today as promised but it has all arrived. Three bags of horse manure compost, three bags of J innes 100 litres of j Innes multi purpose latex gloves for oh and chicken corn and pellets. Paid my sub too so thats the most I have spent for a long time, £65 odd.
Ha ha done my wiping down good luck with yours and I hope it dos'nt take too long to do.

Morning Mel, AnnG and all
It looks as though it is going to be another good day. The sky is a sort of milky pale blue but the sun is trying to shine through.
What a pain having no milk in your order Mel. Good job you have a local shop. I hope your Tesco order is complete Ann. My turn wiping down tomorrow when I have a Tesco delivery.
I’m going to tackle the ironing now before it gets too hot.

Morning all,
It promises to be another gorgeous day down here in Devon and we have that forget me knot blue sky again with just the wispiest of wispy cloud.
Asda sent no milk yesterday so I have to go up the shop today for oh's rolls which he did'nt have on Saturday and some milk. Oh likes a mug of milk in the night sometimes so I shall have to get 8 pints to get us through. What a thing to be unailable though. I would be really stuck if we did'nt have the shop up the road and as I only drink milk and water and orange juice I think its a bit bad on there part. We were told by one of the drivers that the people who pick the grocery orders start at 2am and finish at 6am I think oh said. He was talking to one of the drivers last week but you would think they would be out of milk completely would you?
Slept like a log again last night and hope you all had a better night than the night before.

The wiping took ages and I got fed up with it half way through. I did it all in the end but hav'nt done all the carrier bags yet they are in one of our plastic boxes and I will do them tomorrow.
I had a nothing day today and did'nt do anything other than pick up a barrow loads of dead sticks from the old ash tree which were all ove rthe orchard and where the snowdrops grow. I was wondering if that why I did'nt seem to have so many flowers on them this year.
Your face to face consultation must be better than one of the phone Jane and I do hope you feel better with it that way. It is so unpersonal over the phone.
Ann you will have to get yourself a smaller watering can so he can't put too much water in it for you. Whenever I want the hose to water with oh has always moved it somewhere and I have to follow the pipe to see where it ends which is usually completely the other way to where I need it and its a very long and heavy one to lug right across the front of the bungalow. I do take cans down to the shed to water the things I have in there.
Vera its good the cake was a nice surprize for oh and that it turned out well today when it mattered for his birthday. Sounds like it went down a treat.Hope you sleep better tonight. Have you tried eating a thiick lettuce sandwich or just some lettuce on its own. That usually makes you sleep. I can remember as a child being given cos lettuce leaves to eat sprinkled in sugar but it was'nt at home it may have been att Aunty Jean's or Aunty Joan's. Aunty Joan used to make lovely spread cheese sandwiches with chopped walnuts in.
Now that reminds me of something I hav'nt seen in the shops for years. I used to buy a cheese with walnuts all around the edge. Does anyone else remember those??
Well its late now and it was so nice to hear from our Jane so I am saying night night see you all in the morning and including Frank I hope.

I'm glad you have got a face to face consultation Jane. I was a bit surprised when you said it would be a phone one, but understandable in the current circumstances. It is easier to ask any questions face to face. You are bound to worry, but try to focus on seeing Janice and getting ready for her visit and just look in like AnnG says, even if you don't feel like joining in.
Another email from my hairdresser. So people can't just drop in, the door will be locked after you come in and we will need to bring a shopping bag with us to put our coat and handbag in. We will pay from our seat so there is less movement around the salon too. With paying a deposit on-line beforehand, we shouldn't need to enter a pin to pay the balance.
My side isn't happy, but I think it's more because OH keeps forgetting to only half fill the watering cans for me.
I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight AnnG. I am off to bed now as I want to be up early tomorrow before it gets hot!

Oh Jane, you are bound to feel all over the place at the moment. You have had a lot to put up with and the waiting for results can be the worst thing. There’s nothing wrong with crying. It’s better than keeping your emotions all bottled up; tears can be therapeutic. I just wish there was something I could say or do to help but I am sending you love and lots of hugs.
Aren’t these Tesco slots odd AnnG? They seem to vary so much from region to region. Yesterday when I got another slot booking was only going up to 12 June, yet my brother in the next county got one for 14 June and your son was able to book as far ahead as 22nd. It’s a good job you found out about your changed delivery time. I’m sorry to hear you had a bad night yesterday and hope you get a better one tonight. Have you got a spare room you could go to if your OH is fidgety tonight? I’m in and out of our bed like a yo-yo. Of course the disadvantage is that at the end of the week you have two lots of bedding to wash instead of one.
Gill, how did OH get on with his job hunting? I hope he finds something soon.
Ann, I need to volunteer to organise the quiz if I want to get my own back with questions the younger ones find difficult. I am not sure I am yet up to actually setting up a Zoom meeting – I need a 5 year old to instruct me lol. If things continue as they are I might offer to do the quiz in a week or two.
I hope all the wiping down went OK Mel. It seems to take so long doesn’t it. I know a lot of my friends have more or less given up doing it. One of them only wipes down her milk delivery bottles now. How’s your poor OH’s finger now. It sounds quite painful.
I hope Frank is OK. I think we all miss him when he doesn’t post.
Thank you all for your birthday greetings for OH. In many ways I think he has had a better day than normal. As we are not seeing family or friends at the moment, everyone has telephoned. The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. Daughter, two granddaughters, my brother, various friends and early evening son rang and had all 7 in their house singing Happy Birthday to him down the phone. We had the Black Forest style cake as a dessert tonight and he was really surprised when I produced it as I had managed to make it earlier in the day and assemble it just before our meal without him even noticing. I decided to cut the sponge in half and only put the cream and cherries on half of it because it was quite big and there are only 2 of us, so it was a half moon shape. The sponge rose up really well and evenly so there wasn’t a dome in the middle or any cracks. The cream whipped to just the right consistency so I put a good thick layer in the middle with lots of cherries and more cream and cherries on the top. We had such a big helping each that I can hardly move now. There is still a piece left which I have put in the fridge because of the cream so we’ll have that tomorrow. The other half of the sponge is in an airtight container for me to do something with later in the week. It’s a shame all my culinary efforts aren’t as successful as this one.
I’m going to go and watch “A House Through Time” now so I’ll say Night, Night. Sleep well everyone.

Jane a combination of being confined to the house and garden, not being able to freely see family and your health situation is bound to pull you down. I am sure like us your family and friends just wish for a magic wand and a solution to make it all better. Don’t worry about coming on here and commenting but do have a read occasionally so you feel in touch. We are all thinking of you and will be when you go for your consultation. <3 <3 <3

Done the wiping before lunch but have all the bags to do yet. corned beef toastys for lunch followed by a yog for him and a fromage (sp) frais for me. I get the little asda ones 12 for 80p so I can have two at a time if I want.
Do you remember we gave Em and the boys the pool we bought when oh made the pond deeper. The one we kept the fish in at the time? They put it up at the weekend and we can hear the boys playing in it. Its so nice to hear them and good they are using the pool as we would never have used it again.
Oh said he had a look at the price of pools and paddling pools and our hot tub and the prices have gone sky high. Our tub cost us £250 and now they are £600 and something.
Oh ground the top of his finger this morning so it was an emergancy plaster and finger stall as we can't find the latex gloves I bought his for working on the mower. He has ended up with a big plaster wrapped around it and a finger stall I had in the cabinet and I gave him one of those plastic gloves you get in the garage to put over the lot. As always there was lots of blood as he is on asprin. It was a bit hard to tell which was blood and which was red oxide paint he had been using and I am never aloud to see what he has cut etc to see how bad it is.
So now he is having chinese curry and rice tonight and I am having a couple of boiled eggs or egg and beans on toast don't know which yet will see what I fancy later on.
I am now going to was up the lunch things and then wipe down all the carrier bags and the three plastic boxes and then go out in the garden and cut down some docks.
Its 30.4 outside and 21.7 inside at the mo. I may have togo and open the car windows as its in full sun.
Wondering how Jane is today? Hope she is not dizzy and feeling the heat too much and sending her hugs and wishes. <3
Good you got another slot Anng.
Vera how did the cake turn out?? Was it a great success? Save me a piece please? Yum...
You got a good amount off oh's car insurance Ann. I bet G was pleased with that. Now don't overdo it with that dodgey back stay safe its not the time you need to be going to the hospital.
Where our Franky Boy?
