Hi all,
I have a haircut appointment for 4thJuly 3.45 pm. I was thinking of asking for an estimate, but thought better of it. lol lol I enquired about Asha my hairdresser and was told she is no longer with them. When I asked where she had gone, she immediately said " I HAVE NO IDEA" Of course she would say that, knowing I would have gone to her. She has been cutting my hair now for over 10 years. So will be trying to find where she has gone.
Nice programme on Nat Geo, about the building of the BENTLEY CAR, well worth a look if that's something you might enjoy.
Madam is dozing on the sofa, I will wake her with a nice COT in a few minutes.
We are having Indian takeaway tonight, the only problem is, I have mislaid the MENU. So will have to go online to see the menu, before ordering.
I've watered the greenhouse this evening/afternoon. The tomatoes are coming along fine, as are the runner beans up the sticks by the fence. So something to look forward to when they are ready.
What a todo with your OH and his blood sample, I did have ate smile about having lie down after surgery. Typical MAN lol lol
It would be nice to have waist high planters. It would certainly be easier for Ros, rather than having the VEG PATCH.
Barry has made a really nice job of Tony's garden next door. It's the best I have seen it in a long time. My lawns aren't looking too good, I an thinking I might get GREEN THUMB back to look at it. as they did the summer treatment last Tuesday.
Well I had better wake Ros or she won't sleep tonight. WHO am I kidding, she can sleep for ENGLAND.
Bye for now. xxxx .

Afternoon All,
We have had 2 short showers this morning and the wind has got up now. At least it has watered the garden as has been said.
I knew it would be a palaver with OH doing this blood test.We laid all the stuff out on a new big plastic blotter we haven't used yet, cleaned his finger with the wipe, pricked it and blood appeared. Well you had to squeeze a drop onto a small square on the test strip and he kept twisting his finger out of mine to look and so it trickled down the side of his finger instead. So we had to use the second finger pricker they provided and do it again with me wrestling to keep his finger in the right place. Well I think we'd used all his blood up the first time as it wouldn't drip. They had also provided a pipette to suck the blood into to use so we did that and managed it then. Then 2 drips from another tube in another tray on the test strip and wait 5 minutes before taking a photo to email to them with the questionnaire. The test strip had a blue line and that would change colour and possibly other lines appear if you had antibodies, but his didn't change. I did tell him it looked as if he was pregnant to me which made him chuckle. :-) After he had sent the photo off, he said he needed a lie down after having 'surgery'. :-)
They have finished building the big canopy that's like one of those roofed open car standings with wooden pillars, at the asian house now. There's less room for cars to park but family were there last night and were talking so loudly I had to turn the telly up. I knew the noise was from there as they talking in what sounded like Punjabi. They went fairly early though so I had a good night's sleep till I woke with someone turning a car round in our drive at 7.10am, also someone in a yellow work jacket standing at the side of it talking loudly. I nearly opened the window to ask what he wanted with being on our drive, but remembered I was starkers! Why does everyone need to talk so loudly when they know people may be in bed?
We had to give up on the cryptic crossword after lunch after only 2 clues. I'm sure it depends on who writes them having minds that work like your own as some days they seem easier than others. I remembered to water the greenhouse earlier so am free now. :-D
I forgot to say before what another strange dream you had Mel. That is very kind of you to buy young Sam the gingerbread men. :-)
That was good getting rid of all those snails Gill. I must keep an eye open for them too after the rain. Good luck with your tree today. I must get back into mine again.
Mandy what a good idea for Colin to make veg trugs! It's much easier to do things at waist height. I shall be glad when we get round to clearing the rubble and soil left where the raised beds were so I can have maybe two. OH is thinking we should get a skip when we start on the garage so we could clear that into the skip too. I must read up what the latest rules are about what you can put in them. I look forward to seeing a pic of the bag. I bet Lacey was pleased with it.
What a nuisance getting other people's bonfire smoke in your house in the evening AnnG. It never seems to go in their own houses either. That was good getting a hair appointment. Yours is sooner than mine on the 14th. I'd noticed how much hotter I was with it longer too, yet it is nowhere near as long as I had it in the past.

Good morning gill, yes looking forward to losing some of this thick hair, it is so hot.
Ps and Qs. One explanation (there are many) is the following:
Another proposed origin is from the English pubs and taverns of the 17th century. Bartenders would keep a watch on the alcohol consumption of the patrons; keeping an eye on the pints and quarts that were consumed. As a reminder to the patrons, the bartender would recommend they "mind their Ps and Qs". This may also have been a reminder to bartenders not to confuse the two units, written as "p" and "q" on the tally slate.
another one is to do with the writing of p and q when learning to write as children get muddled as to the position of the 'tail'. :-) :-)

Morning all
Sunny here but a lot of clouds around so I'm expecting some rain before the day's out. OH cut our lawns again yesterday so they look better, they seem to be growing quite fast at the moment with the mixture of sunshine and showers we've had. We noticed late last night there were lots of slugs and snails all over the grass near the big border, so I held a torch while OH picked them all up with some kitchen roll and put them in the garden bin. He said he wasn't doing it again, but at least we got rid of around 30 of them, so my plants should be less effected now.
I slept okay last night Mandy, probably because I was shattered after not having much sleep all week, not being able to lock the door the other night didn't help either, I feel more human today though. I hope the rain stops soon for Colin, so he can build the veg troughs, what veg are you growing?
Pleased to see Barry turned up to do some gardening Frank, it'll save Ros doing it with her sore arm, I hope the swelling goes down soon. How are you feeling today, any better?
Fancy someone having a bonfire AnnG, I hope the smell of it has gone out of your house now. I'm the same as you today and don't have much to do, so I'm going to catch up with a few recorded programmes and take another look at OH's tree. I was so busy yesterday I didn't have a chance to do anything, so I'm hoping I can find more people to add today. Pleased to see you slept okay, it's not easy when it's so hot is it? I see you have a hair appointment soon, I bet you can't wait.
You seem to be having lots of dreams lately Mel, do you normally dream or is it the hot weather causing them. I dream occasionally but can never remember them in as much detail as you do. How nice of you to buy Sam some gingerbread men, I bet he looks forward to that each week. Nice of him to say thank you, not many of the youngsters say thank you anymore. I was brought up to remember my P's and Q's as a child, so always thank people. Although I never got the Q's bit as Thank you begins with a T. I wonder what the Q stands for. :-S :-S
You're braver than me helping your OH with his blood Ann, I'm like him and don't like needles either. How did your zoom meeting go with your beading friends, are you making anything at the moment?
Thinking of Jane today. Hope you're starting to feel less tired Jane and Thomas has come home now.

Morning Mandy, Anng and all,
So you both have the rain too this morning, so do we and grey sky with it. It did cool down a lot yesterday and was really quite chilly in the wind that came up. Still windy this morning too.
Usual shop this morning for a few bits and pieces and egg delivery. I do miss the boys and having a chat about what they have been doing. We get Sam two packets of small gingerbread men with our shopping each week and he always says thank you from a distance. Em can't get them from where she shops and Sam's a fussy eater so if he likes something he gets it. He dos'nt eat chocolate so has these instead.
I slept well last night and am glad you got some good zzzz's in Anng, Mandy too inbetween the thunder.

Good morning all. Steady and fairly heavy rain here at themoment so no need for watering. Hoping the rain will take the temp down a bit. Slept ok last night with just a sheet on, worst problem was, somebody lit a bonfire about 9.30pm and because the windows and doors were all open the house smelt of bonfire when we went to bed.
Nothing much to do today so a lazy day I think.

Still very muggy ,the rain didn't last long this morning not enough to water the plants so they have just had a good soaking .
Poor Ros with her arm all black ,it was a good job Barry turned up today or she might have been tempted to do a little in the garden,I hope it's not to painfull and she soon feels better .
Mel I have finished the bag in fact Lacey took it the other day but I did take a photo of it so will send it tomorrow when I'm on the lap top ,at the moment we're out side enjoying the breeze when there is any and trying to cool down before bed ,when you go in the rooms seem so stuffy even with fans going , I think it's going to be uncomfortable trying to sleep tonight .
Hope Vera's ok and her migraine has been to bad this heat wouldn't have helped
Ann I use to have a Vimto and crips too sitting outside a pub with mum and dad on a summer evening ,dad would go in and bring the drinks out on a tray and we would sit and watch all the traffic coming home from the coast .
It would have been a busy evening last night with all those people at the beach ,I just can't understand why they would put them selves at risk sitting so close to one another like that. They gave out no end of parking tickets ,the poor people that lived there couldn't even get out their drives .

Still very warm here. 29 degrees in the study with both windows and the door open. There is a breeze getting up though so hopefully it may soon be cooler. I feel like a limp lettuce and will be off to bed early again. :-S
That's good Barry is getting the garden jobs done Frank. It will stop Ros being tempted to do too much herself hopefully! Vimto is a favourite of mine too. I can remember when I was about 6 years old occasionally being sat outside a pub in the summer with mum and dad with a bottle of Vimto and bag of crisps with the little blue bag of salt in.
I don't think I can face watering tonight so may do a rain dance instead and leave it till in the morning. :-)

Frank make sure you look at the sell by date on those cans. They may be stock that had been in a shop and the only way to get rid of them was to sell them at a very cut price.
I expect Ros was telling Barry what she wants cut back in the bushes and shrubs. He sounds a nice man.
Suns out here now and its turned quite hot suddenly.

Thanks all, for your kind thoughts and love.
Still VERY WARM HERE. I am indoors reading. Ros is pottering around the garden. I have told her to come in, but I might as well talk to myself.
Barry is here to do the lawns, and trim the ornamental bushes, in the front boarder. He's outside talking to Ros. They are like a couple of old washer women. lol lol
Steak, mushroom, fried onions, baby new potatoes in garlic and herb rapeseed oil. I have also made her Peppered sauce, from a PACKET.
I have a feeling we are going to get one almighty storm, sooner or later. You can hardly get a breath of air outside. Barry had better get his AR@E into gear, otherwise the rain will be here, and nothing will be done. I can hear the mower, so he must be doing something. !!!!
I had a bargain yesterday. A chap from I think Leicester was offering cases of 24 soft drinks for £7.00 each. I ask if he had VIMTO (Ros;s favourite he had some and delivered them this morning. each can is marked at 55 pence each. So almost half price. The cans look exactly like they normally do, so I wonder if they have come off the back of a lorry. ?? Not my problem.
Better see if Barry wants a COLD DRINK. See you later. xxxx

Afternoon Folks,
No rain here yet so I'm glad we made the effort to water last night. We needed a cooling shower after and went straight to bed. It's so hot again and is now showing 28 degrees in here so the cooler temperatures haven't reached the Midlands yet. OH has some of his Independent Person Council work to do and then notes from his school work to do so it should be a peaceful afternoon. I have a zoom meet with my beading friends later this afternoon so better see if I can tidy my hair up a bit! I might stick the black and white spotted band thing on I found the other day.
Oh poor Ros and her poor arm Frank. I hope she is managing to rest it on something soft. You must be having to help her with everything at the moment and she must be fed up she can't do much as well. Time will pass quickly though and you will be back to your old selves before long. Just let your good friends help and try and rest. We will understand if you won't have time or inclination to post at times, but keep in touch. <3
OH is in the random selection of people to be tested to see if he has Covid-19 antibodies, so I have to do his blood sample to send off tomorrow. That should be interesting as he doesn't like needles or the sight of blood!! I've warned him I will turn into Hattie Jacques as Matron with a big hypodermic if there's any drama from him! lol. :-) I slept with nothing but a sheet over me again and OH said when he brought me a cuppa that I'd better put something on to chat with my friends later or I could end up on 'Youtube! 'No' I said, I think you mean 'Boobtube'. :-D

O dear Frank have you been in touch with the doctor? I think it needs to be seen to if it all black and sore. Sounds like she really went through it with the op. Please give her my love and wishes for it to get better soon. <3 <3 <3 <3 Has it cooled down where you are as I expect thats why you hav'nt been sleeping well and with the worry of Ros. We know you will look after her well but look after yourself too.
Its quite cold out today and such a change from the begining of the week.
Had a little fiddle in the shed and tied up the tom plants again. The little toms are getting bigger and its feeding Friday today so thats a job for after lunch.
Most of the ground is nice and damp from the downpour the other day so I may go up the border again this afternoon.
Lamb chops for dinner tonight so I only have to grill them and do some Jersey Royals and tenderstream brocc with them.
Still waiting to see this bag Mandy?????? :-D :-) :-D :-) :-D :-) :-D

Poor Ros, do hope the bruising will soon go down and that she has something for the pain. I expect it is not helping her sleep either plus the heat at night so no doubt that will be why you are not sleeping Frank. Just both of you take it very easy and try not to let it get either of you down. I am sure your friends are happy to help out after all the running around ros does for everyone. time to accept payback. :-) :-) <3
