Happy birthday to your OH Vera pleased you both enjoyed the meal. I walked round to the hairdressers ok but when I came out there was a bus due and it came within five minutes so just had a little walk round the corner from the bus stop. Daughter arrived about 2 pm a slow journey but no real hold ups.

Part 2.
Its 28 degrees here now so getting a bit cooler so I shall go and water soon.
When I went out and looked in the little greenhouse where I have put my pots of strawberries the suns been so strong it cooked three of them that were ripening. I had to cover them all and the greenhouse in fleece to shade it.
Been fiddleign with miniatures today, I'm trying to make a tudor stall with ipies and bread and meats hanging on it. Maybe a bit of cheese. Its only small so I shan't get a lot on it.

As to my tablets Annx, I used to have the gastro resistant asprin but they are now sending me just asprin. I have never liked soluble aspirin as it gets stuck in my throat and makes me cough. I did order them on my Asda order again this week but they never came.
<3 <3 Happy Birthday Mr. Vera <3 <3 Sounds like you had a great lunch and I would have been with you on the lamb shoulder.
I don't know whats going on here but I keep losing some of the things I type. I really must get around to having someone come down and set me up oh's pc and tranfer my stuff over onto it. Man in the pc shop in Holsworthy said about £90 so I think when I get the next solar payment it can come out of that and also new glasses.
Going to post this now before it disappears. Keep cool all.

Happy birthday Mr Vera :-) that sounded a lovely birthday lunch ,hope the ear infection soon clears up . That's odd that you can't find out what this appointment is for Vera , is it a hospital you have to go to or some sort of clinic ,does it say if there's a certain department you have to go to .
Anng hope you managed the walk there and back to the hairdressers and didn't get to hot ,have a safe journey tomorrow .
Ann we haven't had anything cooked in the oven since it's been hot ,I don't want to heat the kitchen to much as that's where Max has his bed ,I did cook a few oven chips yesterday in the air fryer to have with some gammon and salad and did wonder after if I could have moved the air fryer into the conservatory.but didn't in the end ,at least with the air fryer it soon heats up and I don't think they throw the heat out like the big oven .
I hope its cooler tomorrow as we want to do a bit of shopping

It's reached 33 degrees this afternoon, but dropped to 30 degrees now and thunder is rumbling in the distance. Its' supposed to be getting cooler then for a few days. The heat must have affected our front door too as OH had a job to lock it when he popped out to the bin. I'm beginning to wish we lived further north if this is a taste of the future. Neither of us have ever been able to lie on beaches or sunbathe without getting headaches or feeling badly.
I was looking at some cheap, wafty, cotton Kaftans to wear round the house on the Temu site while it's hot and they also had some wide brimmed fishing hats that also cover your neck, only a few pounds each so I might get one for in the garden. I've hardly done anything today and neither has OH.
Oh I missed you there Vera! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MR V! :-D It sounds like you both had a lovely lunch and I would have enjoyed both, but particularly yours. Yes the old buildings with the thick walls and smaller windows keep cooler in this weather. We really noticed the effect in France in a hot summer many years ago. Three hours for your OH's Saffron Waldon appointment sounds a long time, but then again a few tests and waiting between them can soon eat into the time. Yes I think a taxi may be a better bet than the hospital transport. I remember MIL and FIL using it once when we couldn't collect them and they had to wait so long they rang a neighbour to fetch them.

Good afternoon from a VERY hot East Anglia. Yesterday there was at least a bit of a breeze but today the heat is just hanging there.
I hope you didn’t melt on your walk to the hairdresser and back AnnG. I expect your daughter arrived a while ago and hope she had a good trip. Is it tomorrow you go back with her? If so, have a safe journey.
Mel, it’s probably worth having your swollen feet checked over, just to be on the safe side. I’m in a similar position and the chiropodist said I should get my swollen feet and ankles checked at the surgery. She thought I might need water pills. As I was at the surgery with OH this morning I asked about an appointment and was told I had to be seen by physio first. Goodness knows why. I’ve been given an appointment for Friday morning.
I shouldn’t think you know whether you are coming or going with rheumatology Annx. I do hope your OH can get sorted soon. We’re beginning to feel confused with this appointment for OH at Saffron Walden. Someone did ring him back today but we still can’t find out what the appointment is for, except it will take up to 3 hours. It’s only an hour or so each way to drive but it will be the rush hour and we don’t know the roads so neither of us is keen to drive. The chap who rang said he might be able to arrange hospital transport but it’s a real faff and we could have to wait several hours for someone to take us home. so it looks as though it might have to be taxis which will cost an arm and a leg.
OH had a doctor’s appointment this morning. He now has an ear infection so yet more drops. My normally healthy husband seems to be going through the mill a bit lately. He also had to go to the opticians and we popped into Waitrose for yet more salad. Then it was back home for a drink before going out again.
It’s OH’s birthday today. I don’t know if people are economising but he didn’t have half the number of cards he usually has. But he has had a lot of phone calls and text messages so he hasn’t been forgotten. I had booked a table for lunch at a place he likes. It was comfortably warm but not hot. I think it’s an old building with thick walls and small windows so it didn’t get overheated. Our meals were delish. I had pan roasted salmon with crushed baby potatoes and asparagus and a lemon and dill sauce. The birthday boy had an enormous piece of slow cooked lamb shoulder with veg. Then we both had rhubarb panna cotta. A pint and a coffee for him and a fruit juice and pot of tea for me and the whole lot came to £70. We thought that was good value when you look at prices today and consider the helpings were generous and it was beautifully cooked and presented.
Tomorrow I’m having my hair done and then I am out to lunch again to celebrate a friend’s 79th birthday. I think there are 8 of us ladies going.
I desperately need to do some watering of wilting plants but I’ve just checked and it is still 31 degrees out there so I will leave it a bit longer. Try and stay cool tonight ladies and sleep well.

We were going to have fishcakes with salad today, but the thought of having the oven on............so it's going to be tinned tuna instead! I just about got my leg over the bath to shower, but my backs easing a bit now. I've filled the little water bottles and am freezing them. They fit in my little cube desk top fan and keep my face cool. OH has gone to collect his meds and get a paper in the cool Co-op. I will do the washing after teatime and hang it out tonight to dry when it might be a degree or two cooler for it to dry overnight.
I'm glad your water is back to full pressure Mandy and I bet you enjoyed that shower. These workmen have to be out in all weathers don't they and I bet they were glad when it was finally fixed' All OH is getting is a telephone appointment on 4th of June Mandy and not even a time or whether it will be morning or afternoon. The nurse told OH they don't deal with any emergencies either. Max must love his cool blanket. An old schoolfriend has the cool pads for her cavalier spaniels.
While he was out he noticed his car windscreen has a longish crack behind the mirror. It wasn't there when we went out on Saturday so it must be the heat as the car hasn't been out since.
Edit: Blow me, rheumatology just phoned as someone else had picked up OH's second message. She wanted to know exactly what had happened, she hadn't seen the letter he left the other day as no-one had scanned it in on the system yet! She is going to notify a registrar and get back to OH,
Mel, we have had medicine shortages here for different things since long before the war, although I expect that doesn't help. Both my tablet medications often have two different brands in each and there's no choosing the make. I often have to wait a day or two while the pharmacy phones around to get any. OH still gets his soluble aspirin so did your doctor stop issuing the soluble aspirin or did he take you off the aspirin altogether? Yes I would mention about your feet when you next see the doc. I think a lot of people get some swelling in hot weather especially if sitting or standing a lot but it needs checking as you say.

Morning all you lovely ladies,
Its 26 degrees here at the mo going on to 30 later but pc says a cooling trend over the next three days.
Hope it not too hot on the way back from the hairdressers Anng and as the others said you'll have lees hair so should be cooler.
Well yesterday my feet swoll up and I have never had that before. I thought they felt strange when I went round to feed the girls last night. When you have small feet it looks odd to see them fatish. Shall have to tell that to the doc when I see her. Could just be the weather I suppose.
Shopping comes today and I have one thing missing, The gastro resistant asprin. Thought I would buy it from Asda as the doc won't give me it anymore. Do you think Trump's war is affecting pill supplies?

Morning all,
It's 24 here and we have the fans going ,I was still awake at one o'clock this morning but did drop off in the end it wasn't because I felt hot just couldn't drop off . Max had his cool blanket in his bed so he snuggled down ok The water seems OK this morning back to full pressure after the two bursts poor chaps having to work out in all the heat ,they must have been so downhearted after thinking they had tired it only for it to burst again . We will be able to have a shower today instead of a strip wash , didn't like to use the shower or the washing machine in case the low pressure affected them.
Anng hope it's not to hot a walk to the hairdressers for you this morning , you'll be coming back in the full heat of the day ,take a bottle of water with you and a sun hat .
Ann thats a good idea having the cool water bottle I never think of doing that so I'll give it a try . Hope OH can see someone in rheumatology today, did he get off early or are you dropping him off .
I just put some banana in Max's Kong and put ut in the freezer for him for later should help yo cool him off .
We're keeping in again today ,I just need to have a hoover through but will do a little at a time.
Stay cool everyone.

Morning Folks,
It's already 25 degrees here and should reach 32 later the same as yesterday. I took a hotwater bottle that had been in the fridge all day to bed last night and took turns resting my wrists on it. Shower next I think, as my back has eased a bit now since I struggled getting out of bed.
I hope water is back to normal for Mandy today, I hope it's not too hot for you going to the hairdresser and back AnnG. At least you will feel a bit cooler with less hair on the way back.

Just come in from the garden as I went to feed the fish and my ponds pump had stopped again. I took the skimmer basket out and cleaned that and put it back in jiggled the pump and plugged it back in and it went thank goodness. It almost looked like something had nbeen in the pond so I put a few more cable ties round the netting.
I am now going to have a nice salad.

It sounds as though we’re all having much the same temperature. I’m OK, Mel, I can cope during the day but I do struggle in the heat at night. At the moment it looks as though Wednesday will be cooler and then it warms up again.
I’m not looking forward to tomorrow as OH has a doctors appointment in town, followed by an optician’s appointment and there is a bit of a trudge between the two . I also have to go into another optician further through town so another walk in the heat. It’s also 0H’s birthday tomorrow so a few days ago I booked a table for lunch at his favourite pub/restaurant. I doubt if they have air conditioning so it could be very hot in there. I might be ordering a small salad and a glass of cold water.
I am more than ever convinced that your OH and mine share a gene somewhere along the line Annx. I can certainly relate to your stories. Today I got “what have you done with the garage side door key? It’s not on the hook”. This is in spite of the fact that he locked the garage last night! I found it for him and heard a lot of muttering about not putting it back in the right place. He was very lucky not to get something thrown at him. Is yours good at mansplaining? Mine will explain as though to a 5 year old what I should have done to achieve something even though it’s what I would have tried in the first place. I also get cross when I am an invisible housekeeper e.g today he had 3 hats by the back door. I asked if 2 of them could be put away. He agreed, decided which one he wanted left out and walked away, leaving me to take the other two into his bedroom and put them away in his cupboard. I told him to just call me Dobbie. (In case you don’t know Dobbie is a house elf in the Harry Potter stories,). He’s not really as bad as I made him sound and he will sometimes surprise me by doing something nice, but he can be very irritating, or perhaps he’s just being a man.
I’ve got a phone call to make so had better get on with that as I said I would call about 4.30 pm. Have a good evening everyone.

Still 30 degrees here. I washed my hair and only gave it a short dry and then put it up again and as it was damp it was nice and cool.Iv'e had a good wash up of all the dishes and Iv'e also done the water filter jug so that water can go on the plants so as not to waste it and then I am away to fill it and have a nice cup of tea and a biccy, disgestive light.

yes 32 here now too. Just had a bowl of ice cream from the freezer that was nice. The heat saps your appetite I find.
Mandy yes, bound to be a few broken limbs. As it is not now a legal activity because it used to cost too much with police and ambulances on stand by, people do it at their own risk and the only first aid present are I think St John's ambulance.

32 degrees here too! I just hope it doesn't end up getting muggy with this heat. I decided to hang the curtains I got for the study to keep the heat out and worked out the spacing of the hooks and measured how low I wanted them to hang so they slide behind the top of the radiator during winter. I was all ready to go and then couldn't find the hooks I bought, so I'm having a tidy up in the study and hope they 'appear' as I'm sure they are in here.
What a shame the water problems didn't get fixed yet Mandy, but at least you are still getting some water. Yes the weedkiller spray wasn't like the others I've had. It has a green strip pointing forwards on the top that I wasn't sure what to do with! The yellow bit the spray comes out of just came off in my hand and neither of us could get it to fix back on! Thank you and I'll look carefully at the new one when we get it and try what you say.
