Good morning AnnG and all
Another grey, damp day. I slept fairly well and was up early but goodness knows what I am going to do with myself all day. I feel as though I am slowly going round the bend. I am not good at taking things easy. A day or two of inaction is fine but it’s been 4 weeks now without even a short walk. Oh well, enough of my moans. I’m just feeling sorry for myself so I’ll give myself a slap on the wrist and put a smile on my face :-)
I hope the transfusion has given you a bit of a lift Jane.
Have a good day everyone whatever you’re doing.
EDIT. I meant to say how good your painting is Ann. I love the colours. You have so much talent

Oh Mandy the crochet Gingerbread House sounds really nice and you can decorate it just how you want too. What a good idea to use the ice cream tub to strengthen it too and it will keep the shape as well. I look forward to seeing a pic when it's done.
I forgot you were hoovering yesterday Mel. Did you try the cordless? Yes I think it has gone very cold tonight. We have had the heating on in 10 minute bursts for a couple of weeks now, especially in the evenings.
They are going to rejig the big island on the main road just along from here. It's where all the accidents keep happening and the railings keep getting bent and knocked over. We thought the last 'improvement' they did last year was really dangerous. It has 3 or 4 lanes going round it and they put an extra little island between 2 of the lanes that you couldn't see as you followed round to the right until you were on top of it as the island is thickly planted with tall bushes. This island caused a car to flip over and land in a garden recently. It has traffic lights at each of the 4 junctions but people approach that fast they can't keep in their right lane around it.
I'm off to bed now, hopefully for a good night's sleep. Hope everyone else has a good night and that our aches and pains all vanish overnight.....now wouldn't that be great! :-)

Thanks Mel I will try that with the cheque. I'm sure I read that I could use the post office when they closed the branch last year. I know OH has an address to send them to for his bank. How is the new cordless hoover.....have you tried it and hoovered everything in sight? :-D
AnnG thank you so much for passing on that swede tip! I love swede as it is much better for sugar levels and calories than potato but it is a devil to peel and cut up. That sounds a brilliant way to prepare it with far less fuss and bother for having it mashed.and we have it at xmas mashed with pepper and butter like Mel says. Otherwise just mashed with pepper. I've just put a swede on my next order! :-)
I've emailed a pic of the painting.

What a good first attempt Ann. I thinks its lovely and can see the third from the right has a face on the trunk just like you see in real trees.
I started to clean the chickens out this afternoon and oh was mowing. He came up to me and told me it was 6pm and to come in out of the cold. I did as he said and I had only cleaned out the nest boxes so I left the rest till tomorrow.
Came in and had a cupps and then did the dinner and by the time we sat down it was 6.44pm. Much too early really but it seemed to please oh.
Mandy can't wait to see the crochet gingerbread house you must let us have a picture. I shall have to have a look and see if I can see any online as I don't do facebook.

Evening all,
Oh Jane so lovely to see you popping in <3 <3 hope the blood transfusion can help and your soon home again .
Vera that is good news about your foot ,i bet your very relieved you don't need an op on it and its good to know you can have the special shoe should you feel you need it .
AnnG that was good you remembered the hardy geranium in the garden and got it out for the winter ,when you pay a lot for a plant you don't want the frost getting to it so you lose it . I really need to cut my fuchsia's back but they are still flowering well so i've left them for now . You will have to let us know how you go on with the swede in the microwave ,i was going to say you'd have to pierce it well but see you don't have to , i hope it doesn't blow or thee would be a heck of a mess .
That was a nice little surprise win this morning Ann you could treat yourself to more paints ,your little water colour you've done is lovely ,really pretty and for a first attempt is a brilliant start .
I have decided to crochet a Gingerbread house for a little christmas decoration for the children ,might fill it with sweets ,i saw a picture of one on FB and thought i could do that so wish me luck as i'm doing it with no pattern ,so far i have cut the frame out of ice cream tub lids , bottom, sides and roof and i'm going to crochet the shape and make it so i can slip the plastic between the two layers to make it have a bit of body then decorate it with snow and flowers etc.
Hope Frank is ok and has managed to get some more tablets to help his attacks must be awful for him ,i hope we soon get to see the old cheeky Frank back <3

Ann yes the post office will take cheques but you have to put them in an envelope with your sort code, account number, number of cheques and total value and the post office stamps it. You just put the cheque in and fill out a paying in slip and pop that in with the cheque. I was a bit wary at first but it has been ok a few times now. I get a wayleave payment each year for the electric poles in the garden which reminds me I have a cheque to take to the post office.
I have had to do that for a while now. You seem to be having a good year or so on Ernie. Maybe you will be able to go to the new carvery once its finished if they have tables outside and well spaced apart.
Very intereting about the swede Anng. I have never thought of putting one in the micro but do find it very hard to cut through some swedes. I miss the ones we used to grow ass they were so tender. I sometimes do mine the Devon way or just plenty of butter and pepper. I may just ry that though.
Vera so the doc thinks it will heal on its own then. Its nice to have the choice to use thier shoe or your own. I hope you get on ok with your own though they sound nice and sensible.

Annx congratulations on the win, hope you can find a way to pay it in. I think cheques still last 6 months. No that is not the same person. I was thinking of a photographer who posts photos on line but he is from West bay near Bridport.

That's good news about your foot Vera and, as AnnG says there's no temptation to overdo it under the current situation. We still need to do a lot outside and I can't see it all getting done before the weather is bad. At least we don't have our old, huge gardens anymore, so it isn't such a big job!! His lordship says he will weed the front garden tomorrow morning, probably because he's found another footie ground that is in the sticks to go to in the afternoon! :-S
Well yes AnnG, Richard, the tutor does live in Dorset, I think at Swanage! Do you know or know of him through your photography group? You can see the beach where he lives through his window on the screen.
They are doing huge alterations to one of the carveries down road less than a mile away that was only built a few years ago. It has been closed while they extend it with far more space, much of it outdoor and covered and also areas with huge 'jumberellas' over tables. There will be an outdoor icecream service too. It looks like they are going to be more covid friendly whatever happens.
I had a nice little £25 prize from ERNIE this morning!! :-D It does pose a problem of how to cash the cheque though? Not that I want to go inside any bank yet, my local bank in the next village has gone and they transferred me to one on the edge of the city which also closed last year, meaning the city one is the next option and they are under restriction so I can't and wouldn't want to go there. I must check it out as I think the post office will accept their cheques, otherwise I will have to post it to them I think.

I haven't tried this but I intend doing so when I get to Tesco to buy a swede.
Swede easy cook cooks should simply place the whole vegetable into the microwave without piercing it and set it to cook for ten minutes. Once the timer on the microwave pings, turn over the root vegetable and then cook it for a further ten minutes. When finished, leave it to cool before scooping out the now soft centre and add your desired amount of butter and seasoning

OH came out into the garden with me and showed me a couple of things he wanted me to do that he really can't do himself, I had actually forgotten that we had planted quite an expensive hardy geranium in a spot near the dahlias and hadn't noticed that the dahlias had spread over it. Saved it now and empied some more hanging baskets. 10 have been emptied now and the fuchsia ones all moved to the top of the garden, they will survive outside for a bit longer. We will get there, looks like a dry weekend so I shall have to try and cram a bit more in the bin.

Vera that was good news about your foot. you will really have to take things easy now then. Strangely it will be helped by the covid situation as there will be no temptation to go out. Your garden will be like ours, the minimum done. to keep it ticking over.
Annx glad you are enjoying the photography. Your tutor is not from Dorset is he? Just a thought.
Yes, let us see a painting please. I have just not had time or inclination to do any painting lately, there is just too much going on here. Cards I can do because it is automatic for me but painting takes a lot more preparation and thought.

Morning All,
A bit dull here and I was convinced it was Saturday today so I have gained a day.
Good to see you posting Jane. The transfusion should really help with tiredness and being out of puff easily so I hope you will feel a lot better after it. I have no idea how long a transfusion takes, but hopefully you will be home again soon. <3 :-)
Vera you paint a lovely picture of Buster with your words and I had to laugh at the big softy!! I hope you soon hear about your foot as it must be healing more every day. How strange your DIL did the same thing! It's good your OH managed to get a bit done outside. The photography course is going well Vera but I really need to practise what I have learned. The teacher is quite a character and has a campervan he travels to remote scenery in. He even lives near a beach famous for photography and has had an exciting sounding life doing all kinds of things with his photography.
Glad you managed to contact the doc Frank and are getting some more tablets and I hope Ros can get the tyre fixed.
You are doing well with your Xmas cards AnnG. The painting is going well, I think there are 6 sessions in all, but it is so different to my usual acrylic paint! I've nearly finished my homework so may send a pic later. I found myself writing a 'plan' for each step which I don't have to do with acrylic!!
Must break off now as lunch is ready!

Sorry to hear you need another transfusion Jane but hopefully you will feel better after it. It’s great to see your name on the thread again. Sending love and hugs <3
Good news about my foot. Fracture clinic rang this morning to say doctor has studied the X-Rays and thinks it will be better to leave things as they are and I should carry on much as I have been doing, not using the foot more than necessary. They offered me a special shoe to support the foot but I told them I have been using a fairly sturdy pair of lace-ups (the only shoes I can get on at the moment). They said that’s probably OK but I can ring them at any time if I would like the extra support of their special shoe. They also said it will take 6 weeks for the bone to heal but several weeks longer for the soft tissue to recover so I have to be careful for some while yet. Interestingly, they said not to take anything like Ibuprofen or Nurofen as anti inflammatories will delay the healing.
Looks as though the garden’s going to go to pot this year. My Mr Crewcut will do what he can but he can’t do everything (and I don’t trust him with a pair of shears or secateurs).

good morning all and hello Jane <3 <3 hope the transfusion gives you a bit of 'oomph!'
Food shop was early, here again before eleven and all done and dusted by 11.45. Think I have gone a bit overboard on the milk. Can't really get the shopping sorted with OH's appetite varying so much, not in quantity but in what he chooses to eat. did quite well last night as he had one large sausage, an egg and a small jacket.
