Annx yes she was a driving force wasn't she I guess Hannah takes after her. And yes, cheerful and upbeat, hardly ever complained about that awful illness. R.I.P our lovely lady <3

Thanks for forwarding the email from Hannah Mandy.

Oh my goodness. that was a shock, but even though it was inevitable, I thought she had more time. I hoped and thought she would at least get to see her baby grandson when he arrived. How sad, but at least she is out of pain now.

I met Hannah briefly when I first called at Jane's when I was researching Fitz's family about 10 years ago and she struck me as a nice, friendly girl then.. Her email is lovely and hits just the right note as I would expect her to do. Poor Fitz has lost a good, supportive friend too.

She was quite a driving force was our Jane, so the family will feel her loss dreadfully and she will always be in our memories, our cheerful, upbeat Jane RIP. xxx <3 <3 <3

I think we have all been expecting this sad news but it still comes as a shock and will take time to digest. I feel I have known Jane for so long as we chatted on the bird thread long before I came on here and I feel so sad that she didn’t get to meet her little grandchild. A lovely lady, taken far too soon. In a day or two I will send a little note of sympathy to the family but in the meantime they will all be in my thoughts.

Thank you for sending it Mandy. Not unexpected but such sad news. What a lovely email from Hannah though she sounds a lovely person just like I had the impression of her from Jane.

So very much missed Jane and always in my thoughts. No more horrible pain you rest in peace now.

Thinking of Chris, Hannah, James, Gareth, Janice and Larry and family at this time they must all be devastated at their loss.

I don't know if you have all had an email from Hannah but i will send it to you all .

SuffolkVera Report 24 Oct 2020 13:46

Afternoon all

Grey and quite windy today but no rain so far. According to the forecast it’s not supposed to rain till this evening but yesterday they said it would be dry all day and we had a huge cloudburst in the afternoon.

I know what you all mean about muddling up the days. Up until March we used to go into town on Thursday and Saturday, market days, and meet up with all our friends for coffee so that split the week up a bit more, but now one day is just like another so I have to keep checking the paper to see what day it is.

I’m not looking forward to the clocks going back and it starting to get dark earlier. I think the time will start to drag a bit.

I am glad OH is feeling brighter today AnnG. I’m sure you’d like to see him with a better appetite but it will return eventually. In the meantime, little and often is the way to go.You’ve done well this morning getting all those jobs done. I don’t seem to have done anything much.

I had an email from dil saying that she’s fine at the moment and doesn’t have to be tested again unless she starts showing symptoms. She can resume “normal” life next Friday, except it’s not very normal anyway as they come under the Leeds restrictions.

We have had a chap come to show us some wood flooring samples and to measure up ready to give us a quote to lay a wood floor in our lounge. We can’t have solid wood because it doesn’t work well with the underfloor heating, so it has to be engineered wood. The sample we chose has shading in the colour and knots and had a bit of character to it. We know it’s going to be pretty expensive but we won’t decide whether to go for that or get another carpet till we see just how pricey it will be.

I am surprised how much my “shoe” relieves the pain in my foot. In fact I hardly felt any pain yesterday evening until I took it off. I suppose it’s because it’s taking all the weight off the broken bones. You’re right Ann about being careful on the stairs. I very carefully went up 3 stairs but it was awkward and I didn’t feel very safe, so I’ll be taking the shoe off at the bottom and putting it back on at the top.

Our neighbour arranged her slot to visit her OH to fit in with my appointment yesterday so she came to the hospital with us but OH told her he couldn’t take her over the weekend. We want to be neighbourly and helpful but he is getting nothing done. He bought a new bathroom cabinet for our en-suite, took the old one down on Monday but the new one is still in bits in the bedroom waiting to be put up. He’s just gone to make a start on filling in some holes in the tiles where the old one came off the wall and do a bit more preparation.

I hope Frank is OK and posts again soon.

Thinking of Jane, as always <3

Vera hope DiL is free of Covid, good she has tested negative once anyway.

Just settled OH in th dining room with his bowl of heinze vegetable soup. No bread with it though.

The lillies are out in the conservatory, shame as they are lovely but their perfume was overpowering.

hope it is not too wet for your OH's footie match Annx

Mel that is the trouble with feeding birds they seem to think they should leave you a present for doing it.

The old digger is The Work Horse Ann. Its not only a pipe but a flange somewhere???? Its a dvd he has ordered as the handbook is very expensive.

We have that fine rain and the winds blowing hard. My beans were over again this morning so I picked it up and found a handful of eatable beans on them. Most I have let go to seed for next year as some of them have been in the big tub for three years now and I just let them grow and add a few more new ones. The old ones were Benchmaster which have huge long beans.

Just getting ready to go up the shop for a few bits and the paper.

The female pheasent has been a right pain this morning waiting for food outside the backdoor on the patio and pooping everywhere. She's had two pieces of bread to get her off and then after those she followed me to the workshop for corn when I went for the chickens food. Had 6 eggs today and none broken!!!!!!

Wishes to Jane if she looks in. <3 <3 <3

Well clocks returned to the right time my bed stripped and now in the dryer. (the sheets are). And shopping wiped and put away. A smaller amount this time, no point ordering stuff for OH if he is only going to throw it away. So I have ordered me a couple of ready meals to try them, he can then have jacket and beans or edd. He is a lot brighter today (think the prunes worked!) And said he had a good night's sleep.

I had a text from 'Will' the delivery lad to say he was running early was that ok? So it was all delivered, wiped and put away by 11.30.

Drizzly here first thing but dry at the moment and a bit blowy and 15 degrees out there.

Morning All,

Quite windy and dull here and the Jackdaws are all in the air over the field and loving it! I slept well last night but woke at 2.30am convinced it must be about 6.00pm!

I'm glad you all agreed with me about the zebra crossings What a waste of money and a bad idea!!

Vera I hope the boot will help, but you will have to be careful with the stairs.

I loved your pics of the deer Mel, and that is a huge Fuschia bush you have that one is nibbling. What a shame the digger has oil leaks. It sounds like it will need at least a new hose and clips replacing but hopefully the new handbook will be helpful with the other problem leak. Often it is just knowing the right way to dismantle and put together and seeing what is inside the leaky parts that you need to mend. I'm sure your OH will be able to fathom it out and fix it. I know his mowers have names.......does the digger have one? :-)

Yes as Mel says, I know just what you mean about getting days wrong! I am fine with Saturdays at the moment as he has footie and buzzes around earning brownie points beforehand. This morning he had the hoover whizzing around! It's the rest of the week I get mixed up now.

Time for poached eggs now! BBL

Morning Anng ON THIS SATURDAY MORNING when the clocks go back and All,

I think we all have days like that Anng I seem to remember Annx having one not so long ago. I do it frequently and even did it before lock down but then again I only used to go out on a Tuesday and Saturday just up the shop. Our house is behind a 12 foot high wall so we can't see the road and people going by the only one we see is Tim the postman when he comes down with letters. O thne there's the delivery men if we order something over the net and the Tuesday shopping man but its never the same person lately.

Miserable old morning here with cloud wind and rain and oh has even turned the heating on!!!!!!!!!

Good morning. Still dark here at 0800. For some strange reason just on bedtime last night I was convinced it was Saturday so put a couple of the clocks back thinking it was strange it had not been mentioned. When I went in to OH, my bedsise clock telling me it was 0630, he told me today was Saturday. It was a while before I believed him but then realised I have a Tesco delivery this morning (Saturday) and my computer told me it was Saturday. What a weird feeling though. The problem is with being home most of the time there is no 'reference' if you look back over the days.

Anyway Saturday, good morning. OH is wandering around better go and see.

Vera if you make the gin without the sugar and taste it after you can add sugar syrup to it to your taste. Quarter of a lb of sugar to quarter of a pint of water boil it up and let it get cold or if you need more just double it up.

That shoe looks most uncomfortable and I hope you don't trip on the step between the conservatory amd the kitchen. Be careful won't you please.

Thanks for the wishes EOS and I hope you have a pleasent weekend too. x

Went through the things I have made today and moved them all to the lounge under my tables. We won't be having the Christmas fare this year so they are not needed. I had forgotten just how much I have made over the last couple of years.

Mandy its good you now have the rose tied up and out of the way. I did google and you can use them as they are still legal tender and the banks will take them forever same with old pound coins and I have a load of those too.

Thank you Elizabeth. I hope your weekend is all you would like it to be. There’s something special about rainbows isn’t there - they’re a sort of symbol of hope.

You have been busy in the garden Mandy. The photos of my elegant shoe don’t really make it clear but that square toe is 1.5” off the ground so I shouldn’t trip. There’s a little step over from our kitchen into the conservatory and I will have to be careful to make sure I lift my foot up high enough there. I think the shoe will help as there’s no weight on the front of my foot now.

Lilies are funny flowers Ann and could well be irritating your throat. I hope it feels better soon.

Lovely pics of the deer Mel. It must be great to have so much wildlife around even if it does eat all your plants.

I like the sound of Guava gin. We’re not gin drinkers but my daughter and my eldest granddaughter are partial to a glass or three and granddaughter does like the fruit ones. I found lots of references to it but I couldn’t find an actual recipe. I can do it like sloe gin but just need an idea of the amount of sugar to use as the berries are much sweeter than sloes. If I can’t find a recipe I’ll just have to guess.

My dil is apparently self isolating as she was at a funeral last week and someone else there has tested positive for Covid. Dil has been tested and it’s negative so far so fingers crossed it stays that way.

I’m now going to have a look at the crossword and perhaps read for a while. Sleep well tonight everyone.

Oh do be careful in that shoe Vera it looks like you could easily catch your footing with the square front ,you would have thought they would have rounded the front of it to make walking easier .
I hope it's giving you more support though than your usual shoe and your foot soon heals.

It looks that way AnnG if it had been really urgent they would have fitted him in straight away so fingers crossed it's nothing to much to worry about .
