Frank Report 27 Oct 2020 10:19

Good morning Girls,

Horrible wet morning here. With no sign of improvement.

Ros is getting ready to go out with Carolyn, so I will have a nice quiet day with "ALEXIA" I will find some nice soothing music, and try to relax.

I have been having my "TURNS" again this morning. Ros said I got up at 11.30 last nigh making a list of people who I want to take out for my B'Dsy. (How strange is that !!!!) I had a very iffy nights rest, and this morning I have only had ONE COT, but three bottles of water. have a mouth as dry a a dessert . I have the lounge windows open and the conservatory door onto the patio. I only have a short sleeved "T" shirt on, and I am still ROASTING.

I just wish the doctor/hospital, can find out what's causing me to be like this. I HATE IT. !!!!

I am going to see if I can eat a little cereal,as I haven't eaten since last night.

Take care all. xxxx

Good morning from a gloomy looking Gloucestershire. 8 degrees but looks drizzly out there.
Slept quite well but still waking up very early 5am this morning then dozed until 0715 got up for the loo and OH sneaked into my bed while I was in there. He is back in the other bed now.

Got antiBs to pick up for him today and then the Docs at 3.20pm.
As to the next scan Annx your guess is as good as mine although we are assuming head and chest. really not sure why they keep mentioning the chest and not the back although the last xray they did front and back of the chest. totally confused now.

Frank OH has found he can sit comfortably in the conservatory in a chair we have out there, it is an upright wooden arm chair that belonged to my Great Aunt who used it in her bed sit where she was housekeeper to a doctor I think around 1920ish. It then passed to my Mum and was in oue kitchen from about 1946 onwards. Must be 100 years old. He won't be sitting out there much longer though as there is only a plug in electric heater.

Annx Report 26 Oct 2020 21:25

That's the garden rubbish gone now then Mandy! Do you still have to book slots? I think we will need to go again before too long. OH pulled the last of the french marigolds up today and some old rhubarb leaves to top up the garden bin for tomorrow. The courgette plants went in the bin the other day. I did check if the Dauphinoise potatoes could be frozen and they can't, but the dates last till next Sunday so it could be worse. I checked and did freeze the lasagnes for now

No wiser about your OH yet then AnnG? Is the next scan to be of his head or elsewhere like his neck or spine? At least you know now they haven't spotted anything worrying about his heads can and he has antibiotics to treat the infection.

Yes, Asda do let you choose to substitute or not, and I do specify no substitutes for a few things, but I don't mind most substitutes, like chicken, pork or lamb, just not the beef dishes they seem to think I must want. If I choose not to have substitutes on a lot of dishes we could end up with far less food and little choice. They seem to be getting worse for some reason as time goes on. Maybe it's because they sell out quickly at weekends when our order is. I dread changing it though in case I lose my recurring slot. Bonus fish for the freezer for you then! Well done getting more sorted for the charity shop. I must top up my latest bag to take.

Oh Mel, the virus has reached your neck of the woods then. Still you are careful not to go out often and will just have to get to the shop early before many people are about. I find just the same about other people not being careful which is why I still keep away as much as I can. There have been 67 new cases in our Blaby District in the last 7 days, but in the last 24 hours in the city there were 207 and that is already in tier 2. Next door Nottingham is in tier 3 now.

Oh Vera what a disappointing trip. You will have to pick a better day next time. I bet it is the boot causing your back trouble. When I hurt and made my knee worse I had trouble with the opposite hip from not walking properly. Good idea to take the boot off for a while. Is your ankle strapped up to help support it as that may help if not. If we needed a bathroom cabinet putting up I would have to mark the wall or it wouldn't be straight! I did the markings for the tv brackets on the bedroom walls and OH drilled the holes and screwed them on.

I do sympathise and know what you mean Frank. Good idea to open the door for some cool air as they make you overheat and feel there's no air. I hope they can give you some advice to help you next week. The shaking inside is scary, but try to just keep calm and remember it does pass each time and is the effect of adrenaline. Just drop in to say Hello, we will understand.

Off to watch a prog about bats now! Hope you all sleep well.

AnninGlos Report 26 Oct 2020 21:12

Vera well the two weeks was a second answer. The hospital had actually said on the scan report that if it was no better in ten weeks to go back for another scan yes TEN weeks I don’t think they had been told he has had it two months. No he had not had a back scan only X-ray and two lots of chest X-rays.

Sorry that you are suffering hope it is better tomorrow,

SuffolkVera Report 26 Oct 2020 19:53

Frustrating to say the least AnnG but try and concentrate on the positives. The medical people haven’t yet found the cause of the headaches but the scan will have helped them to rule out all sorts of nasties. It does seem odd to suggest another scan in 2 weeks when it’s already been going on since July (?). I’ve slightly lost track but did OH have any sort of scan on his back? I would have thought even a minor problem with the spine might cause headaches but that’s only a guess. I don’t have any medical knowledge. Don’t worry about speaking to different doctors each time. They will all have access to his full record on their computers.

Mandy, I did go out with OH for a drive around but it didn’t go particularly well. It was sunny when we left but became overcast within a few minutes. A little further on I stupidly said “Well, at least it’s dry”. That jinxed it - next minute it was raining :-(. Trying to go through lanes and minor roads all we found were road works and traffic lights or road closures with diversions, which all took us back to main roads. To cap the lot in 3 different villages, when we were on narrow roads with no way of passing, we got stuck behind bin lorries. I was quite glad to get home.

I was also glad to get home as, since last night, I have had quite a bad back pain and can’t get comfortable anywhere. I have had this sort of pain before but I think this time it might have been caused by my special shoe. Because of the front of it being off the ground one hip is effectively higher than the other and so I am walking around lopsided. I’ve left the shoe off this afternoon and OH has put a heat pad on for me and I have taken a couple of paracetamol but they don’t seem to have helped much yet. Oh well, I know at different times you have all had bad backs so I mustn’t keep moaning about mine.

OH did get our new bathroom cabinet up yesterday but tells me he’s having it down again as he isn’t yet happy with it. It looks right to me but he is such a perfectionist.

We’ve had our meal, nothing very exciting, just cold meat, baby potatoes and baked beans. Then we had a handful of grapes each and OH has just made a cup of tea so I am going to drink it while it’s hot. Sleep well tonight everyone.

AnninGlos Report 26 Oct 2020 19:43

Well we have already been to what seems to be the alternative to A&E The acute medical investigation. Enter, and they didn’t have answers. All they seem to want to do is shift the responsibility. In our case the answer seems to be another X-ray or scan or blood test none of which give us answers.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 26 Oct 2020 18:21

So still none the wiser AnnG
That's good the scan didn't show any concerns but it must be very ffrustrating still not knowing what the pains are .
Not helping either that it's different doctors each time and now having to wait another two weeks !!
If we didn't have this virus I would have said take him off to A&E ,you'd have a wait but at least they might try and sort out his pain and get to the bottom of it poor chap .

I wonder if Vera had her trip out .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Oct 2020 16:18

Well the doctor phoned. I of course am not sure if I have been told everything, it comes out in the conversation in dribs and drabs.

The scan apparently showed up nothing that would cause headaches but if it is no better in two weeks he has to book another scan. (Now I am puzzled by this given that it has already been going on for two months.) This, of course, was a different doctor to the one who has been phoning him. He has to collect a prescription for antibiotics from the chemist because he has either a UTI or cystitis. And tomorrow has a doctors appointment with yet another different doctor, to have his ears and throat checked. difficult to see how they can join the dots when you see or speak to all these different doctors. Oh and the doc who phoned (at 3.30 when it should have been between 4 and 6) is the husband of the doctor who did the op on my arm.

so we are not really any the wiser, except there doesn't seem to be any concern about his head (brain?)

I am not sure how much the doctor today knew about the case but OH did fill in the background for him. Just seems nobody really knows and he is left still suffering pain.

Frank that's good your getting the hand rail sorted you need something to hold onto and I'm sure Ros would use it too.

Sorry you've had another bad turn it will be good when they can get this sorted out for you .
Your garden will look beautiful in the spring with all the bulbs ,nice to see a splash of colour in the garden .

We have stew tonight .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 26 Oct 2020 14:17

You should be OK Mel if you kept back from people in the queue.

Sunshine and showers here now ,we did get to the tip and parted with all the garden rubbish, when we came home we cleaned out the woodshed as Colin has ordered some logs for Wednesday morning .

Ann could you freeze the dauphinoise potatoes trays .
Yes I still think of Lewis and the bin lorry cake too Lol

I still can't really take it in that Jane has gone ,I didn't realise that she had so little time left although Hannah did say it was quick so maybe they weren't expecting it to happen so quickly .

Frank

Frank Report 26 Oct 2020 14:17

I thought I would just pop in to say HI.

Ros ordered a selection of SPRING BULBS from one of her magazines. She was busy yesterday putting some in, and has been out there for a couple of hours today. weeding and cutting back. She has put a load more bulbs in as well, so the garden should look nice come SPRING.I do wish I felt well enough to help her, but she is very understanding, and doesn't expect me to help.

We rang Barry last night, asking when he can spare us a few hours . We have some bushes that need cutting back plus the lawns need their last cut (I HOPE) I also want a hand rail fitting to the arch on the steps down onto the lawn. As things are I daren't attempt going down the steps, after that horrible fall a few weeks ago. Harvey was suppose to do in ages ago, but he doesn't seem in any hurry to do things for us. At least paying Barry, saves me from asking Harvey, when he is coming to do some things for us.

I have been sitting in the conservatory reading a new book. All seemed great, then I had one of my "TURNS" I managed to get to the back door and open it, so I could get the cold air into my lungs. it's gone off a bit for now. I do wish I could find out what brings these "TURNS" on.

Cold pork with chips and curried baked beans for tea tonight. I did the chips earlier while Ros was in the garden. So I do what I can to help. I have a tray of stewing beef out of the freezer for tomorrow, so I might do a stew, for a change.

I am looking for a small armchair for the conservatory. I have been using a dinning room chair, with a cover on. But a light armchair will be more comfortable for me.

See you all tomorrow. xxxx

Yes I agree with Anng Frank we just like to know your around even if you don't feel like posting just a note will do.

I have just been up the hsop for a loaf and someone came in and said that a person in a close in the village has corvid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that he got near to soemone in the fish and chip que. I was up there last week but stayed away from everyone where I could but people round here don't seemm to take much notice of social distancing. Three children right at the shop door probably all from one family and all had masks on but there are only two aloud in the shop at a time and when peole come out they walk right past you close. I try not to get near everyone but you have to walk past the other person in the shop as the isles are very narrow.

Well it was a lovely morning so I decided to take a charity bag down to the lady who does all sorts of charities and also the book stall. It was suddenly overcast as I set off but was ok on the way there, however on the way back it chucked it down so a good job I had on a good wet weather coat. Ought to change my jeans though I suppose. they are still a bit damp.

Mandy yes It will be a long day, then I hate waiting for the phone to ring and making sure OH has not retreated to bed as I can't hear whoever is on the phone.

Anyway he watched a bit of gardeners world while I was down the road but had gone to lie down to ease his back now. first thing this morning I started to sort away T shirts and get out sweaters, ought to do the other cupboard now. I did take a few short sleeve sweaters to the charity as I never wear them it is either T shirts or long sleeved sweaters.

Annx Yes you will miss your Christmas meet up this year (did you actually go last year I can't remember although you may nnot have because of the two hip operations recovering.
Yes our thoughts were that they would have been in touch if it was anything urgent. Then my brain (which I kept to myself) also thought, say it is too late to do anything and that is why there is no rush! Half full glass or half empty.

Can you tick your list to say no subs on an item. I have ticked quite a few things on my list. You do seem to have had quite a lot of subs lately.

Frank, that is the tests over and now the wait for results. I expect time is dragging to your hospital appointment as well. Sorry you are not so good but even if you just say 'hello, goodbye' do drop in so we know you are more or less OK.

Frank Report 26 Oct 2020 10:30

Good morning to you all,

EMPTY left arm,She only took TWO FILES, normally it's THREE. Had my ECG also. I have to ring at the end of the week, if I need to get results. But they will ring me if anything shows up.

Not well again today, even though I managed a good nights sleep. I have these horrible crawling feelings in my upper body again, and I have the shakes. Couldn't manage to see a Doctor this morning, so will see how things go.

I have a meeting at the Daventry Hospital next week, with a MENTAL HEALTH TEAM. It seems there is something going on in my brain, that they need to try to sort out. Hopefully it will stop all this shaking and horrible feelings.

Sorry that I am not very good company lately. but until I can get myself sorted, I am not good company for anyone.

I hope you, and yours are keeping well, will try to get back late or tomorrow. TAKE CARE. xxxx

Morning All,

Thank you EOS, I hope you have a good week too.

Looks dull out there and I don't feel as if I've gained an extra hour! I was thinking about Jane a lot yesterday. It is a real loss to be without her now. I shall miss our annual meet up and lunch together. I envy how she would get things organised and done while I tend to procrastinate and think I' ll do them tomorrow. Maybe l will try harder in her memory! Like AnnG says, we lose good friends we have never seen, but they still make an impact on our lives and are missed.

AnnG I can understand the worry about your OH's head scan but hope he would have heard by now if they needed to do something quickly. Maybe his being unable to swallow much food is due to underlying worry and stress. There have been stressful times in my life when I've had a feeling of a lump in my throat through worry and not wanted food or felt I could swallow much. Not long to wait now. Your white Roses sound lovely.

That's good Sandra is thinking for herself and learning to do things Gill. It is a big change for her after all these years, but it will take a weight off your mind knowing she can mostly manage to look after herself in the future. How nice she is enjoying her Christmas films again, just like old times!

Mandy well done your son for making the Christmas cakes! I used to enjoy the decorating bit best myself! Lol. Are the children decorating their own? I still think about Lewis and the bin lorry when I think of cakes!

Vera we said yesterday that we need a run out to Rutland to give us a break from the routine at home so I'm with you there. I will take my camera as some of the villages have some pretty ochre coloured churches.

We had the food drop yesterday and l had 9 substitutes and 3 out of stock. So now we have 3 chilled dauphinoise potato trays to be eaten quickly and 2 large beef lasagnes and I dislike beef. No cauli cheese or broccoli bake so it's good I got plenty of fresh and frozen vegetables.

I hope Frank is ok and that the doc's phone call is early. Is it to see how you are and how you are doing on the new meds.

Better get moving and showered now and then empty half the crammed fridge to see what to eat with some of those dauphinoise potatoes!

Morning Anng, Vera and all,

We too have a nice sunny morning with blue sky and white clouds but what it will do later I haveno idea.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for the results of T's scan and that it good news. Its horrid when you are waiting for something he must be on tenter hooks all the time which won't help with the head.

Must get the washing on the line and may be able to get another lot in.

Must also order our scripts. Dos'nt it come around quickly and thats another month nearly over.

Still got my back ache but its not as bad as it was when it first happened.

Morning AnnG and all

It’s a pity you have to wait all day for OH’s call about the scan. It’s bound to be on your mind. Try and keep yourself occupied. I have everything crossed for T.

At the moment it’s sunny and bright and about 7 degrees. It makes a change from waking up to another grey, wet day. OH has gone out for his walk and I am sitting up in bed with a nice cup of tea, trying to motivate myself to get up. All I’ve got planned today is the washing. I wish I could get out for a bit of fresh air and exercise. OH has offered to take me for a drive so I’ll see what we both feel like later..

Enjoy your day everyone. Might bbl
