Frank Report 10 Nov 2020 16:03

Not a good day for me after all, Afternoon to you all,

I had a TERRIBLE ATTACK OF THE RUNS, Only just made it to the toilet. While in there the phone was ringing. I let it ring as I had no option. Did a 1471and it was Simon. He has been into work (to the office) to sign all his RETIREMENT PAPERS. So from today he is officially no longer employed by FORD.

He has decided to take a few months to get over not working. It will give him time to spend with SALLY, and his beloved dogs. He walks them for unto two hours every morning, whatever the weather. He will have a fair pension as he has been with them for over THIRTY YEARS. With Sally still continuing to work, they could manage. He might look for a little security job for three/four days a week, if he gets too bored.

How nice to be able yo retire at 55 years old. I was still working until I had my stroke in 2004 I was then 66. and if I hadn't had my Stroke, I was willing and capable to carry on for a few more years, as I loved the job I was doing.

Yes the girls will only be able to go Tesco/Sainsbury shopping. Not going out, I don't think of "lock down." I am quite content to be HOME ALONE with my books/Computer and a bit of T.V.

I have some nice MEATY pork slices for dinner tonight. I have marinated them in a CHINESE marinade. I have done my own chips, and I will do Curried Baked Beans.

Will have to be careful how much I eat, I don't want any nasty accidents.

Time for a COT and a bit of afternoon BBC T.V. some good programmes on until the news at SIX.

Anng I meant to ask you if T is eating in the hospital? Are they watching what he eats or has he even mentioned the food at all?

Well doesn't look like he will be home today either. He phoned half an hour ago, he didn't phone before as he'd been asleep all morning, finds it hard to sleep at night there. Doctor/consultant (Not sure which) is insisting on more tests he is going to have BP tests this afternoon because (I think he said) his BP was high and it has to be equal over sitting, standing etc. (well I know that) Then he said something about his headaches, so whether they have finally caught on to that and his back I am not sure. He also said something about physio, although often things he think are going to happen don't. I wonder if this is all part of pre op examination. He did charmingly tell me his bowel problem was better and he is now blowing wind. Such romantic phone calls we have. He might phone again later. Which means carrying the phone with me all the time as he expects instant answer.

Just spent half an hour chopping down the hardy fuchsias in front of the conservatory, it was like a jungle and have started to take a bit of the Buddleia. Must check what to do with the peonie as it looks as though it needs cutting down. At least there will be less to worry him when he does finally come home.

morning Feank, you sound bright today, that is good. I assume you mean Ros and Carolyn are food shopping as no other shops are open during lockdown.

I have just been Christmas shopping ....... On line.

Still waiting to hear from OH these things are always do long winded. I assume he is waiting to hear if he will get transport and looks like, if he can it will be after lunch.

Frank Report 10 Nov 2020 10:43

Good morning GIRLS,

Poor Ros got woken up by the phone this morning. I was up and having a COT when the phone rang, I got to it as quick as I could, but it also rings in the bedroom. It was GREEN THUMB wanting get in the back garden to do the treatment. So I had to go and let them in.

Nothing sort of day here,Very overcast, and not that warm outside.

I hope your OH gets home today Ann, and that he makes a speedy recovery.

It's all go for Ros today. 11.30 she is having the foot lady here, 1.30 Hospital appointment, then shopping with Carolyn, ending up a Tesco for the odds and ends. It will leave me a nice quiet afternoon with my book.

I woke this morning at 4.00 am with "ONE OF MY TURNS" So I got up and sat in the armchair, watching T.V and drinking bottles of water. It eases off for a while, but makes you want the loo. :-( :-( :-(

I have my eye test appointment at 11.40 tomorrow at Vision Express which is in the Tesco store. So I expect"MORE EXPENSE" with new specs.

Lewis has a new Honda Jazzcar. He took Ros over to the honda dealership, where she was able to test drive the Automatic, which she loved. She is nor considering getting rid of our Mercedes A 160 Auto, and getting a new Honda, on the Motorbillity scheme. She will hold out till the new Registrations come out in March so she will have a "21" plate. I will get it's MOT done in Feb. So that I can sell the Merc. with a full mot. Considering it's a 04 plate, it's only done 72,000 miles with two lady owners. We have owned it since 2007, and Ros only does about 4,000 miles a year. So it should be a good buy for someone. I would hope to get close to £1,000.00 for it.

The beef that was over from Sunday's dinner, I minced it up and cooked it with Mash and VEG for last night. I will sort something out for tonight, and get that prepared while Madam is out this afternoon.

I hope you all have a nice day, Will try to get back later with any news that might pop up today. TAKE CARE and STAY SAFE. xxxx

Yes we both have to learn Mel, he might find it a bit awkward depending how far he has to bend because of his back.

Sun is shining now but very wet under foot and another load of apple tree leaves down for me to clear up. Can't go far though as still waiting to hear if he is coming or not and if he is, when??

Morning Anng and all,

Sorry you have a grey day Anng. We have lovely sunshine and blue sky and no wind so far. That could change when the tide turns.

Hope you get on ok with the catheter. Can he not do it himself?

Mole Vallley have just delivered the chickens food and wild bird food etc so thats one delivery so far today and just Asda to come later for the big wipe down and there's a lot this week.

AnninGlos Report 10 Nov 2020 07:40

Good morning all. Looks like another grey day.

OH is supposed to be coming home today but who knows, that could change, it has twice before. Oh I dooo look forward to learning how to change/empty the catheter, looks like the start of a new career. Keep saying. "got to keep a sense of humour"

And, of course if coming home by ambulance or hospital transport (not sure which) there is no timetable.

didn't sleep that well last night, got about four hours, enough to get by on. Got up early to shower and wash hair as I don't know what time he will phone with arrangements.

Evening all
Awol again! Getting used to the new specs on the computer is taking time.
I crochet some poppies for the window and today finally did some sewing so I'm pleased to have broken that drought.

AnnG, it sounds like your OH will be coming home a new liberated man!
I hope you have managed to catch up on some rest and relaxation, you've had such a tiring time of it.

He still has backache, he didn’t say about his head I suspect he still has it as he is mainly being treated for the UTI and also that is connected to his prostate which is not working properly

Yes he had an enema two days running because he was bunged up and constipated. Phone calls tend to be short so .i do not know all the details hopefully learn more when he is home.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Nov 2020 16:47

Anng the very private person went the moment he had the catheter fitted I should think. I am pleased he seems to be getting on ok with his nice young nurse. After all they have seen it all before and more.

I did'nt know he had had enemas. Did he say about what he's been eating? or if he still has the headache and backache?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Nov 2020 16:26

OH has just phoned and was a lot more upbeat again. He has just walked with a nice young nurse (his words) around the ward and said he felt much more confident and steadier. He says they are not bothered about the stairs because he goes down sideways holding on with two hands. He is bringing a zimmer home with him he thinks. Nurse has shown him the proper way to get in and out of bed and he is at the moment sitting in a chair. He is now apparently wearing hospital pyjamas and had to throw one pair of underpants away (TMI) I assume something to do with when he had the enemas. Where has that very private person gone?

Well at least I got the leaves off the lawn, will be some more down tomorrow Inexpect.

Its pouring down here just as I was going to corn the girls. Its turned very grey out there.......

We have sausages tonight and I think I may make bubble and squeak with them. Nice and warming with a few baked beans.

Anng I do hope he will be home tomorrow as its horrid waiting for phone calls and not being able to visit. Stay strong. <3

Afternoon all,

AnnG i hope OH is soon back home with you ,it's the waiting that gets to you ,hopefully you'll know a bit more soon about whats going to happen .

Here's the recipe for the Quick Christmas puds ,i haven't tried it but thought they sounded nice .

Using a 400 gram jar throughout

1 Jar Mincemeat
1/4 Jar of Marmalade
2 Eggs
3 tsp mixed spice
Half shot glass Brandy or Whiskey
Half Jar Wholemeal Flour
50 grams Grated Dark Chocolate
2 desert spoons Lemon Juice
1/2 cup of Stout Beer
A handful of chopped Almonds
A handful of chopped Ginger

Mix every thing together in bowl ,it will be quite a wet mixture
Divide between 12 buttered muffin tin
Cook 150 c for 35 minutes
Let mature for 48 hours before freezing

Defrost and microwave for 40 seconds

It does say add a little more brandy before microwaving but i'd be a bit weary about the brandy in the microwave .

Apparently probably home tomorrow now. Meanwhile a therapist (probably occupational is going to phone me. I just hope I can hear her. son in law's daughter is an OT so she has suggested the likely questions.

All so sudden this, one minute he had a bad back and headache and the next he is needing aids.for goodness knows what. He sounded ok the last time he phoned but I do get the idea he either doesn't know anything or is not telling me if he does.
This blessed virus is a real pain meaning no visitors.

At least I managed to finish clearing the dahli tops and raked up some of the leaves from the apple tree .

good morning grey and damp here so not very nice at all. Slept well last night but was up early (for me).

Ah!! No further forward at the moment. OH just phoned, he said there was a whole load of people round his bed earlier including a consultant and they were talking (among themselves by the sound of it) about sending him home today and getting him back in next week to do an operation on his prostate. (had a suspicion that might have something to do with it). He says he is confused now as to what is happening but will let me know as soon as he hears anything. So that is all I know, I guess that may be a biopsy. Scary but at least we know something is being taken seriously. I guess the consultant was 'off' over the weekend.

so I am in limbo again. Neighbour who will take me has gone shopping so if he phones he will have to wait until she returns. Couldn't keep her here.
