Glad they arrived ok Mel , I thought you might like the one with the deer on :-D

Ann that was a handy find the cool bag with the ice blocks .
I just put my veg in the shed in the cool ,I make sure I take it all out of any plastic wrap ,I've had carrots in there a good month or more and they've been fine ,potatoes we just cover up so they don't get the light and go green .

Goodness it was dark early tonight with this miserable weather ,I'm waiting for the dancing I think I read that Anton is on the judging panel as the coloured lady I can never remember her name has to isolate after coming back from Germany this week .

Just a reminder for new lot of The Chateau tomorrow night and the jungle programme with Ant and Dec that's now from the castle .

Evening All,

Pouring with rain and windy now, a proper wintry evening, but the fireworks are still going off!

Ros is really silly Frank as they have found that a good number of people have an upset tummy as part of the virus and even if not, why risk passing a bug to Martine? What if she fainted again while driving. It doesn't bear thinking about. She should have listened to you. Don't worry about not having much interesting to say as we are all in the same boat I think with not going out. I do wish you would write more of your memoirs as we all loved reading the last ones you did. How are the attacks now, are you starting to feel a bit better yet? Oh that fridge must have been really whiffy!

Yes, it was nice to see what Hannah said and to see all the lovely photos. It does seem strange that we won't have any more posts from her.

I find it hard to pick up what some folk say if they have a strong or foreign accent AnnG, so it must be even harder for you. Why do they seem to speak so fast too! I know you can get special phones for the hard of hearing. If you don't have one, it might help with some calls. Try not to feel guilty as I doubt I could lift hubby up either. It was a bit of a game getting him out of the bath recently! I had a lookon line at the time and there are some handy tips to get someone up from the floor or how to get up yourself if you fall. It even suggests (if there are no injuries) ringing the fire brigade for 'lift assistance' if you can't manage it.

I hope you get more used to the meds soon Gill. The sleep may be what you need just now though. How is Sandra doing with the things she needs to earn now? I will forward you the email for Jane's service.

I found a few more bits in the garage for the binmen on Tuesday including an old mop bucket I doubt I will use again now I have a steam mop. I also unearthed a cool bag that looks better than one of the two we are using for bread and veg that won't go in the fridge, so tomorrow I'll give it a good clean and disinfecting. It has ice packs in it too.

Back to my painting now.........tricky homework that must be in tomorrow.

I missed you there Gill. Good to see you posting. Take care.

SuffolkVera Report 14 Nov 2020 17:11

Oh dear Frank, what are you going to do with Ros? I know she is trying to be helpful and kind to Martine but she is really being very silly and putting herself and others at risk. All that food thrown away and money wasted! I think you need a notebook to write down what food you have in your fridges and freezers and keep a check on everything. I know it’s none of my business but, just out of curiosity, why do you need to buy and store so much food? There are only 2 of you and Ros seems to shop more frequently than most of us. By the way, don’t even think about leaving the thread. You know we all miss you when we don’t hear from you.

It must have been frustrating not to understand the lady on the phone AnnG. Accents seem to get distorted on the phone and I sometimes struggle to understand someone with a strong accent. My hearing is quite good so it must be doubly difficult for you. Have you heard back from the hospital yet? Are you allowed to visit if you can get there? Our hospital allows controlled visiting. One person can go for an hour a day at a pre-arranged time slot. I hope you get some better news soon.

I am laying on the bed again at the moment resting my back and foot. I stood in the kitchen this morning for quite a while preparing and cooking some bits and pieces and this afternoon I worked in the garage (half of it acts as a shed) and I cut back and potted up more geraniums to overwinter and also planted up another pot with tulip bulbs that OH had overlooked. I was careful but by the time I finished my back and foot were quite sore.

I also had a FaceTime call with my son this morning.which always cheers me up. My hairdresser rang to rearrange my next appointment which was supposed to be on Tuesday. Then I had another one booked for Christmas week. I’ve now got an appointment for 8th December and have told her to cancel my Christmas week haircut. I won’t need 2 appointments in December.

OH said he would cook tonight so I’m going to have an hour with my book now.

Hi all, it's been raining here most of the day then the sky turned orange just as the sun went down, it looked lovely.

Have I missed Jane's service, is it on an email? Could someone send it to me please if it is. Thanks

I'm still getting used to the new meds the doctor gave me, they're making me really sleepy so I'm sleeping a lot lately.

I hope you've heard something from your OH now AnnG

That was nice of them to let you pay next week Mel.

What a thing to come across with your smelly fridge Frank, at least it's been thrown away now.

Just watching the F1 qualifying with OH before he goes to work, the cars are slipping all over the place with the rain. I wonder if they'll stop it if anymore cars spin. Sandra is watching children in need from last night as she doesn't like the F1

O Frank Ros is such a silly girl taking Martine when she's not well herself. If anything happened to her who would look after you?? She needs to realise this.

Mandy thank you so much for the masks they are amazing. Oh thinks they're great too. He said you are very clever and kind. They arrived this morning but the internet was out and I have only just got back on.

When I went to the shop thier pay point was down so I owe them the shopping money and then I forgot the ham so I paid for that as I had a fiver in my purse. I even wiped the change before putting it in my purse. I need to pay them next week.

Anng have you heard anymore from T? Its a real nuisance when you can't hear what people are saying on the phone and with a hearing aid it must be even worse.

Its thundering it down here just as I was going to corn the chickens and the winds blowing a hooley too.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Nov 2020 14:06

Frank well we can just hope that Ros stays in the car and doesn't go spreading the bug around. Also hope that the police don't stop them as there are two in the car (wearing masks I hope) as only essential journies are allowed and they may think Martine should have caught a taxi as they are allowed to pick up passengers. Police are handing out on the spot fines.

MillymollyAmanda Report 14 Nov 2020 14:04

Oh no Frank I hope she'll be OK fancy going when she's not well ,I'm sure Martine wouldn't have gone if she was feeling like that .

Oh I bet that lot ponged in the fridge good job you opened it and didn't leave it any longer .

Frank

Frank Report 14 Nov 2020 13:49

Just like talking to a BRICK WALL. She has just left to go to Martine's. I have told her to ring me when she gets there, and again when she gets back from the hospital. She is so BLOODY MINDED. All she will say, is, MARTINE WOULD DO IT FOR ME. I know the would, but under these circumstances, WOULD SHE. ????

Persistant wind and rain. I got the shopping out of the car and unpacked it, into the fridge and cupboards. Took some frozen stuff to the back freezer, and I could smell something. I opened the spare fridge in the garage, and there was. A JOINT OF LAMB Out of date August 14th together with some Pork slices, Lasagne and a some other bits, All in the BLACK BIN NOW.

I've now got the house to myself for a while, so I am going to read the paper and enjoy a beer.

See you later. xxxx

Afternoon all ,

Miserable weather here today sky looks full of rain and it's really chilly ,we have the wood burner going so will soon be nice and toasty.

Ann thank you for the email ,what lovely words from Hannah and it was nice to see all the photos of Jane ,it does seems strange not to read her posts any more.

AnneG I hope you can hear a bit better when you get the next phone call ,it must be so frustrating when you can't hear what they say .

Frank don't you even think about going off the thread ,we all like reading your posts and if some days you don't feel like posting it doesn't matter ,just say hello so we know your ok.
Poor Ros ,did you say once she was diabetic? if she had sickness it be that her medication isn't working as it's passed through her quickly , keep an eye on her and get help if you think she needs it .
She shouldn't even be thinking about going out how she is I'm sure they can manage to get to the hospital some how.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Nov 2020 12:45

Frank you are right Ros should not be driving if she fainted and is still poorly. Has she got a temperature do you know? Have you considered that she could have picked up the virus? I do hope not but she has been out and about hasn't she. Put your foot down and if she is no better, you should maybe phone 111 for her.

You contribute as much as any of us to the thread so stay with us.

I am really fed up, I have had lots of phone calls from my deaf friend who took OH's stuff to the hospital and also from OH himself. and have managed to hear them perfectly but just now somebody from the hospital tried to contact me and I really could not understand what she said, she had an accent, could be scottish or foreign and she tried two phones, mobile and house and just was not clear.

All T's ward have now been moved to Cheltenham because they need the Gloucester wards for Covid patients. That was maybe what she was trying to tell me. who knows she said she would get somebody else to phone.

Frank

Frank Report 14 Nov 2020 10:48

Good morning all, SORRY I haven't read any posts yet again.I feel perhaps I should leave the thread, as I don't give any input into it.

Ros is still suffering with this upset tummy. Unbeknown to me, last night after I had gone to bed, she had a fainting turn, and only just managed to get to a chair, before passing out. I have told her to ring 111 for some advice, but she said "I will be alright" So it's really out of my hands, if she won't speak to anyone. STUBBORN OR WHAT!!!!

Horrible morning here, I have all the side lights on in the lounge. Electric fire on, and heating turned up. I am sitting here, with hardly anything on, while she is wrapped up in a dressing gown and large fleece. I wish she would go back to bed and rest, but he prefers to sit and watch T.V. (JAMES MARTIN).

There is a lot of FRAUDaround. With people ringing, saying they are from AMAZONand that your account has been compromised, and trying to obtain BANKING DETAILS FROM PEOPLE. So please be careful, I know you are not stupid but a word of warning just might help.

R os has offered to take Martine to the hospital this afternoon, to have another scan of her head. The way things are at the moment, I don't think she should be thinking of doing that.I think I will PUT MY FOOT DOWN and say NO. Brian, Martines husband will have do it himself, or get a neighbour to take her.

I know we need a bit of shopping, but i am pretty sure we can make do.

See you all latter. xxxx

Morning Anng Vera and all,

At least its good you have heard from him Anng. Don't feel guilty its not your fault you can't turn him or lift him if he falls. I certainly could'nt lift or turn my oh.

We had a bit of sun this morning but now its rain and a strong wind. Only one chicken has vertured out that I could see when I got up and I hav'nt been round there yet. I know the bantams will be in thier bedroom as they hate the wind.

Will drop Em's eggs off later and pop to the shop for some milk and the paper then its back home and hunker down.

I don't think so Vera, he was moved there from the medical ward he was admitted to.9that should be, to which he was admitted). He just phoned (good job I was up) to have a couple of things added to the package Joanne is taking in for him later.

Missed you there AnnG. I’m glad you have heard from OH. Don’t feel guilty, he is there because he needs to be there. He may have been put in that particular ward because that’s where there was an available bed. Many years ago, at the age of 60, I was put in a 6 bed geriatric ward with 5 very old ladies because that was the only bed available at the time, but the right doctors came to the ward to see me and I got the right treatment. I am sure they will look after T.
