Evening All,
At last AnnG! I hope you get the scan results soon and that they find what is causing the trouble for your OH.
Frank not another fall and bashed ribs. I hope you can rest up a bit and come back when you are feeling better. Just take care not to fall again if you can.
Love the wreath Mandy and the colours look good together. You made a neat job of it. That's good the girls like their headbands and the teachers liked their masks........now you have more to do! :-) Nice to hear from you Gill. Sandra will wish she hadn't carried the heavy bags if she makes her back worse won't she. Is it Christmas shopping she is buying? Sorry your OH has had a chest infection and hope he is soon feeling better. Maybe you could celebrate your birthday another day? We would often have to go out for a meal another day on our birthdays because of work commitments.
OH thought he'd only be about 20 minutes at the opticians this time, as they only needed to examine the back of his eyes more closely than usual. No it was one and a half hours again, as the trainee did it!! So all told it took 3 hours to do an eye test, that you'd expect to be quicker during a pandemic to reduce risk. I know they have to spend time wiping down the equipment between customers, but not that long and if they'd done his test all at once there would have been less wiping to do. My test is due as well now but I'm thinking twice about going to Boots for it. A new Specsavers is opening in the Sainsbury's down the road on Monday so it might be worth me going there instead. In Boots you have to walk right through the store to the back and past people so Sainsbury's would be no worse.
Vera you managed to do quite a lot today and I'm glad you felt better for it. Sorry your back is worse for it though. OH had both backache from the opticians awkward seats at the machines and a migraine from the bright lights in his eyes this afternoon. Hope you sleep better tonight.
Mel, we were taught at school that it was the rats that carried the plague too. OH thought they were more sensible about social distancing than now in some ways eg walking down the middle of roads to keep away from people. I never knew they had people watching the houses with plague to make sure people didn't go out as well. We need some of those now too!
Not sure the Christmas idea of 3 days in and out of others houses and meals with up to 10 from 3 households is a good idea. No-one will be checking and drink will be flowing too. It's bound to cause a spike in cases. The Health man for the city here has reaffirmed again that the city's main transmission of cases here is inside homes and visiting others in their homes.

Evening all,
Been quite a nice day here but turned very cold late afternoon .
AnnG at last they are doing some thing for your OH and he'll get treatment if its needed ,has any more been said about the op they were going to do ? As Vera said he's in the best place ,take care of yourself and make sure you eat .
Oh goodness Frank not another fall ,your poor ribs ,i hope you soon feel better and can post again ,take care and come back to us soon .
Vera you have been a busy bee but doesn't it feel good when you get things done ,just don't over do it ,it's knowing when to stop isn't it .
Yesterday i did the shop and wipe down and i had an afternoon making some more masks . I made a wreath for son and DIL and one for us and there's lots of the mesh left so i'm doing a couple of smaller ones too. I finished the girls headbands the other day so i walked over to the school and gave them to son so the girls could have them as it's turned a lot colder ,i didn't hang about just handed them over and also gave him some masks for the teachers they loved them and want some more . The girls loved the headbands and want some in another colour ,Chelsea and Katie want a black one each and Lacey wants a dark purple one so some else to keep me busy .
Gill what ever was Sandra buying that was that heavy ,is she buying things ready for her flat ? Hope her back soon feels better .
Ann your fish in the cheese sauce would suit me i love cheese with any thing ,the other day we had Macaroni cheese and i added some ham that was getting near the use by date oh it was lovely as it got all crispy on the top . Hope it wasn't such a marathon at the opticians for OH today ,hopefully he didn't get the trainee again and was in and out a bit quicker .
I see Kirsty's christmas makes is on next week and her christmas programme on after that too, filmed in January well before the first lock down i read .
I'll send a photo of the wreath i made for son and the girls headbands ,sorry i still don't know to send them together so it will be in 2 emails .

O Vera you did get a lot done today. I seem to have come to a stand still and the only things I have doen today is make a huge pot of soup for lunch and cleaned a couple more things off the room divider. I did bring in a pot of wires from the shed ready to wire some flowers I bought last year. They came with no wires attached so the bits I cut off of some last year will do to make stems for them for me to wire. I hav'nt found ut yet if the shop will take my wreaths this year!!
What on earth is Sandra bringing home thats heavy???????? She needs to rest that back or she could suffer with it all her life.
Anng at last someone is taking notice of poor oh. Sometimes lesions are nothing to worry about and can be treated with antibiotics. I hope they can treat it for him but it dos'nt explain the headaches.
Frank you will really have to be more carefull we want you back on here as soon as poss as we miss you when you don't post. Just take it easy and est those ribs and get back to us soon please.
Where's our Island and whats she been up to lately????

Thank goodness the medical people are actually doing something for OH at last, AnnG. I expect you are not sure whether to be relieved or sorry that they have found a lesion but at least they have found something specific and can now get treatment under way for him. It’s not very nice for you being on your own but he is in the best place to get the care he needs.
Frank, please take great care and use sticks or a walker to steady you. Just post on here when you feel like it.
Sorry to hear about Sandra’s bad back and hope it’s better soon. AnnG is right to say keeping mobile is best for backs but to avoid heavy lifting and carrying. It’s good that your OH is better now. Is he enjoying being with the night staff more than the day people? My 18 year old granddaughter, who is working most of a gap year in a care home for people with dementia, has just done her first night shift. She quite enjoyed it as it’s not nearly as hectic as during the day and she got some time to read.
Although I had another bad night I decided I had to do something useful today to keep myself sane. So this morning I went with OH to pick up my meds from the chemist. I can’t move my bad foot quickly enough yet to drive safely so he had to drive but I went in the pharmacy and then walked round to where he had parked. Then we went to Roy’s shop and he parked while I went in and bought the one thing I wanted. Back home, he lifted some stuff on to the workbench in the garage for me and I cut back and potted up some more geraniums to overwinter and also potted on some cuttings that were outgrowing the tiny pots they were in. I also had a bit of a sweep around in the garage while I was out there. Then I came in and cleaned some sinks and surfaces and prepared tonight’s dinner. My foot seems to have stood up to it quite well though my back is quite painful again but at least I feel happier in myself now.

Apparently the CT scan shows a lesion on his right lung. They have referred him to the respiratory specialists. Given his age and general health I think there is a reluctance to do a biopsy.

Please take care of yourselves, I will come back when I feel I am able. Also I had another fall and damaged more ribs.
Love to you all. xxxxx

Good afternoon Gill. Quite nice here now but it was rainy when I went out for a walk.
Poor Sandra, It does sometimes help a bad back to keep gently active but she should not be carrying anything heavy. Still, as you say, she is independent now so you can't stop her. shame your OH has to work on your birthday evening but he will be there in the day. Good that he still has a job though as so many are out of work. Is he happier with the night staff?
I had better get on and have some lunch now. probably BBL.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here today so I've just put a load of washing on.
Sandra has hurt her back so I've been helping her, she hurt it a while ago and won't rest, she keeps walking to the village and buying lots of heavy things even when I said it would make her back worse, but she's her own woman so I can't do anything except advice her. The doctor has given her some cream and she's taking paracetamol, but without some decent rest it'll never get better. So with running around helping her and all the housework, not to mention sorting OH out as he's not been well either, I haven't had much time to myself lately. Luckily OH's chest infection has gone now but he's still getting used to working permanent nights so is tired most of the time.
I have a bit of free time now so thought I'd come on here as I've missed chatting to you all. OH told me this morning he's working on my birthday next Monday :-( at least it's he's first night in for next week so won't be in bed all day He's working Christmas day and new year's day as well.
Love the painting Ann, you are so clever, it looks lovely.
I hope you hear something about your OH and his problems AnnG. They're certainly being thorough so hopefully they'll get to the root of his problems soon.
The spots on the palms of your hands don't sound to good Mel, I hope the cream works, you don't want to be catching them, it'll make it worse.
Sorry to hear you haven't slept very well lately Vera, I hope you managed a decent night's sleep tonight.
Not another fall Frank, maybe you should take the mat away, it sounds dangerous. I hope the doctor got back to you and you're feeling a little better today.
Better go and peg my washing out, it sounds like the machine has just finished.

Morning Vera, Anng and all,
Good to know Vera is ok as I noticed she had'nt posted yesterday or so.
Weather here at present is quite nice with a little sunshine but clouds too and wind thingy says its 11 degrees out there but not been out there yet to find out.
Anng it sounds like they may be doing something about T's pain at last. I hope he gets good results from the CT scan and they can at last find out what is giving him so much pain in so many places. Poor man must be out of his mind with worry as are you. He is in the safest place though Anng and they can meet all his needs and you don't have to worry if he should fall down at home and you can't get him up. I wonder how long befroe he gets the results from the scan?
Nothing planned for today work wise shall just see how the day pans out. I may write some more cards as I have piles to do but can't post them yet but at least they will be out of the way. Lucky for me I bought lots of cards last year so have a nice lot in stock. I don't much like this years cards in the shops anyway. I do like a card with red and green on and a bit of sparkle that catches the light even now and then.
Got my funny spots on the palms of my hands again, then they peel and the skin is so hard they catch on everything. Must put some of my cream on them. I think a lot of it is to do with how many times I wash my hands during the day and a change of the usual handwash as I am finding it hard to get the Carex aloe Vera one which is the only one I really get on with.
Think the winds coming from the north west today so its bound to be cod and I can hear it which is'nt a good sign.
Hope you hear something soon from oh Anng.

Daughter says she would hope that the CT scan would also cover, "stomach, liver, kidney, pancreas, gall bladder, and I’m pretty sure they will have been able to see his lower back too. "

Good morning Vera, I wondered if you were OK when you were not on here yesterday.
OH phoned just after 9 to tell me he'd had a CT scan on his stomach at 7am this morning so at least they are doing something. He was most indignant because they had not asked him if they could do it. I pointed out w should be pleased they are doing something. I assume it was early to get in ahead of the scheduled appointments.
The bad stomach pains he has had lately are a fairly recent thing.
He did also say he was not coming home, which is a relief. Not a relief that he is not coming home as I would so love to see him. But a relief as it sounds as if they are taking it more seriously now.

Good morning AnnG and all
I hope you hear something definite from the hospital today AnnG. Not knowing what’s happening with OH must be pulling you down. Surely they won’t send him home without further investigation. I do feel for you both.
The weather here is much the same as yours, 7 deg and wet again. It’s supposed to get very cold tonight so I must remember to cover a few plants later.
I haven’t felt too good for the last couple of days and haven’t slept much for 2 nights. I must buck my ideas up and get a few jobs done.
Have a good day everyone. Might bbl

Yes I enjoyed that program about the plague and shall watch the next ones too. It was interesting about the lice and nothing was ever mentioned about those at school only rats and their fleas.
Have you watch Our Yorkshire Farm 5 years on? It was lovely to see the children grow from babies to children and they all get on so well together. I so hope they do more programs. What lovely children they have, not at all spoilt and little Clemmy has an old head on young shoulders. They are a lovely family mum dad and the children.
