Afternoon All,
Before I say anything else, OH has forwarded me an email about a scam that tells you to do that Mel so delete it! I haven't read it yet, but he told me about it.
Edit: It was in a a Police Newsletter he gets and says this:
"This year has seen a marked increase in online shopping and that gives fraudsters more opportunities to scam you.
Firstly, we wanted to draw your attention to 'missed delivery' scam emails (could also be text messages) purporting to be from delivery companies that claim you have missed deliveries and need to pay a small fee to reschedule delivery.
So far, we have seen numerous versions, predominantly DPD and Royal Mail, but bear in mind it could claim to be any other well known delivery service.
!! Generally, missed deliveries will result in an actual card through your letterbox and not asking you to make payments online !!"

Me neither Mandy.
Anng thanjks for the lovely card its lovely with the squirrel and Robin on and a bit of glitter sparkling on the holly and snow just the kind of card I love and handmade too.
I have three cards now as I had one from my old school friend who now lives in Mersea. Its funny it has three old people on the front sitting in a bus shelter with all snow on the roof. The first lady has a bag with Holly printed on it and she is sitting next to an old man with Robin written on his jumper next to him is another old lady with Ivy written on her handbag. Both the ladies have smiles on their faces but the old man is looking a bit confused as both ladies have a hand on his knees and are showing lace on the ends of their knickers.
Its been raining all morning here and its cold out too 5 degrees at the mo.
Oh had a look at that email and when he clicked on the bit to put in the right address it took us straight to Google. we took down the parcel number. It also said the package had been taken to their depo where I could collect it from in LONDON. So we have left it at that. Oh said if it is a real parcel it will be sent back to the person who seent it in the first place. It also said I would have to pay.
Oh had taken himself off so I expect he will be having a sleep so I can go out and collect some stuff for the wreaths. Only three to do this year so I think if its stopped raining for a little while I will corn the chickens and disappear into me shed before it gets too dark.
Good luck with your lady caller Frank and I hope Carolyne likes her present.

No hope for me then as I've got skinny arms. The needle will go in one side and straight out the other!
Your card arrived at lunchtime AnnG. Thank you very much; it's lovely.
OH is now doing more tests on the heating to make sure it is just the activator and not the whole valve that's given up. He may not be a great romantic - he's never going to order me flowers the way Frank does for Ros - but, by golly, he's a useful man to have around when things go wrong.

Afternoon all,
Thank you AnnG your card came this morning very pretty.
Shopping all done wiped and put away ,thought we'd do it today before the weather turns nasty tomorrow although it's not very nice today as it's raining .
Good news about the vaccine hopefully next year we will be back to some normality. I knew there was a reason I have plenty of meat on my bones have you seen the length of the needle for the jab :-0 looks like it could go in one side and out the other .
Mel it sounds like a scam they get you to ring up about it and charge you a fortune for the call. My little parcel was sent from the post office so don't think it's anything to do with that .
Vera I hope you can soon find someone to fix your heating but it's good your OH has managed to isolate it so you can at least heat the rest of the house .

I hope the lady can help you make your bungalow safe Frank. You’ve had more than enough falls, we don’t want to hear of any more. I hope the funeral goes OK. They’re always sad occasions but more so now with all the restrictions.
I wonder what your parcel is Mel and I’m intrigued by your new toy Island. Can’t wait to see what you make with it.
I’ve been writing a few more cards. The first couple were OK but then the tremor started again and I gave up after 5 cards. If you get a card that looks as if a pie-eyed pigeon has staggered across it, then I apologise.
OH has just rung to say they are just leaving the hospital so he should be back in just over an hour.
EDIT. It didn’t occur to me that it might be a scam Mel but AnnG could well be right. Be careful

Good morning all,
Wet here also. Eos went to see Carolyn as it's her B'Day today. She took down her card and present.
I am expecting the woman who is going to look how safe the bungalow is, to see if there are any
bits that can be improved on TO STOP ME HAVING THESE FALLS. I don't think there will be anything in doors, but going down on the lawn will need some looking into. That's where I had my last fall and ended up in hospital, and stitches.
At 2.00 pm we have a funeral at the CREM in Wellingborough. We won't stay long. It will be the case of being there, and off home. I think we might stop on the way back for a meal, to save us cooking tonight.
Jan has been on the phone this morning, asking if Ros will get the "CRACKERS" for Christmas. She always manages to buy NICE ONES. So she has a job for life. She also wanted to know what I wanted for Christmas. I don't need anything, so she buying me some JOGGERS.
Already for the young ladies visit. So will sign off. I hope you are all well, and please stay safe. xxxx

Moist and murky here too and very dull and dreary with it.
Anng Iv'e not got your card yet perhaps it will come today.
Shall be doing the wreaths today to get those out of the way but its not nice to be going out there in the rain picking foliage as its a long way across the garden.
I have received a message from DPD to say they have a parcel for me with some of the address missing and I hav'nt ordered anything big enough to be delivered by them. Iv'e only got till tomorrow.

Good morning all, like you say Vera, very wet out there and 4 degrees here too. so no pottering in the garden.
Just lining up all the admin jobs that need attention after I have had breakfast and put a wash load in. If I don't make lists things get forgotten. Fortunately I usually do most of the admin anyway.
Pleased that you got my card Gill, I thought they should be there by now, they all went together.
I will probably be back later.

Good morning all
It looks like another very grey, wet day. According to the forecast it’s going to rain all day and not get any higher than 6 degs. It’s about 4 degs at the moment but feels warmer to me, probably because the house is warm now, except for the lounge. OH went off around 8 to pick up our friend and drive him to his 9.30 appointment.
Have a good day everyone. Stay warm and safe.

Thanks everyone for letting me know your cards arrived okay, our post has been a little slow lately so I wasn't sure how long they would take to get to you all. Thanks AnnG for your card, it arrived today, so that's two we've got now as Mel's arrived the other day. I already had 1st class stamps so used those.

Possibly a loose connection Ann. I will have a look tomorrow, it is a bit awkward in the evening as the Socket strip thing is behind the curtain.

Well that wasn't what you wanted to hear about your heating Vera. Thank goodness you have an OH who is able to at least isolate the valve so you can have heating on again. We wouldn't have a clue what to do. I hope the mnfr can do something for you.
I haven't actually been feeding proper bird food. I have just been putting crushed up crusts from my seeded bread and OH's bread out for them up to now. I haven't fed them all summer. Clearing the garage shelves I found some old birdseed and some mealworms so will try those tomorrow. They turned their beaks up at a bit of cooked potato I tried. I thought they would like it as mum's chickens loved boiled potato peelings. I know the Magpies that have come back now the Jackdaws have gone have had some, but we've seen the Robin and Hedge Sparrows feeding as well.
I've done what I can with my painting AnnG so I will send a pic tomorrow. Do you think a bulb has gone or maybe it's a loose connection with your Christmas village.
No-one in the close put lights up when we moved here 20 years ago but a lot do now. Both neighbours opposite have them, but I feel sorry for our neighbour who is opposite the all singing, all dancing ones! With being a single lane road, the bungalows opposite are close and even we can see them through wooden blinds plus curtains. The twinkling ones opposite us are fine, but the flashing and pulsating ones at the bungalow next to them would be no joke if you wanted an early night as our bedrooms are on the front. Makes me think of One Foot in the Grave when the street light went through the window!
