AnninGlos Report 31 Dec 2020 16:15

33 phone calls and she finally got through. She spoke to a junior doctor. She said that T was delirious much of the time not even knowing his date of birth but was occasionally lucid, would not eat or drink, they were considering tube feeding him. Daughter said we didn't want that. doctor will tell her superior our wishes which daughter made clear.

All very sad but We do know that he has signed a DNR form as he told us so she reminded the doctor. and we hope now that he will be sent to one of the community hospitals and left in peace. Sad but we know how much he would hate being messed around. Full marks to them for trying to prolong his life, you so often hear the opposite but we both know him so well and he would hate being tube fed. He just wants to sleep so hope they let him.

Vera that was a good result from Sainsbury's and it paid for you to be honest as well.

It has been sunny here all day but the highest the temp got to was 2 degrees.

I am having a very 'down' day, mostly caused by the old thing of Gloucester hospital not answering their phone. so far daughter has phoned at least 16 times to not have the phone picked up.

Well done on locating the secret switch Island, good to have you back with us again. you will know next time.

Ann sounds like you are sleeping much better now then that is good. Hope your knee continues to improve.

Frank, good to see you, pleased that you enjoyed the drive. Are you in tier 4 as well now? If so where did you find a coffee shop open? None open round here.

Mel, best to be patient I think and keep your arm rested before using your clay. :-) :-)

And a happy new year to you too Frank stay indoors and safe.

snows stopped now and a lot of it has melted.

Nice to see Island on here and know everything is ok with her and hers. Love to doggy Scruff. <3

With this blimmin arm I have not had a chance to have a play with my new poly clay and my lamp. So frustrating all I do is sit here at the pc and play cards and eat choccies. I shall be as fat as a pig soon.

Frank Report 31 Dec 2020 13:02

Afternoon to all you lovely LADIES.

Nice drive out into the Countywide this morning. We stopped in SALCEY FOREST, just outside Northampton and had a coffee at the coffeeshop in the forest. Have now been home half an hour.

I got steaks out of the freezer for tonight, and did the chips. Ros is doing the Mushrooms and slicing the onions.

Didn't see any frost here this morning, but yesterday it was all over the lawns.

Nice photos Mel, Robby seems to be enjoying his bath.

Nothing to do this afternoon, apart from reading and watching T.V.

I doubt I will be back before tomorrow, so I wish YOU AND YOURS a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

We were put in total lockdown from Mid-night, but as we didn't mix with anyone, felt safe having LITTLE DRIVE OUT.

Stay safe, see you tomorrow. xxxx

Island Report 31 Dec 2020 12:54

Afternoon all

Back in the room!
I have finally landed after being stuck in airplane mode for over a week, I think I was at high altitude yesterday as I wasn't connecting at all. The tiniest of hard to move switches was located on the laptop casing and it had been flicked - it's so secret, there is no mention of it on 'net. Back to regular talk talk drop outs now I suppose :-(

I'm lining me gourds for a couple of FB challenges starting tomorrow - 30 day sketch and a year of stitches, might dip out of the stitches if it gives me hand cramp though.

Off to catch up.
Happy new year all if I don't get back later.

Morning All,

I slept well but my body clock seems to have shifted a couple of hours and I seem to be getting up later! It seems chilly again this morning .

Interesting what you say about the internet Mandy as ours went down a few times yesterday, but only for a few minutes at a time. I hope yours stays ok now. Are you doing a jigsaw this year? Mine hasn't been started yet.

Vera the knee is a little better this morning. I keep trying to get back to the pedalling as I need to lose quite a few pounds for my knees to either improve or to be in the best shape for the operations on them. Although I thought just 100 pedals to start with each day was gentle enough I think I will try just 50 every other day once the left knee has settled down again. I'm going to start up some other knee exercises I used to do as well that strengthen the muscle support around the knee as they helped before and it may be what's needed for pedalling to be ok. I never expected to have knee trouble with all the exercise I did when I was younger, but gaining weight as I got older hasn't helped. Some of my joints seem too flexible or a bit unstable too. I could always bend some joints more than other people and I can still bend my thumb joints in opposite directions! Lol.

Nice easy ready meals (mine is a WW chicken and leek) today with added veg and then I want to start some painting today after sketching in the background. OH is doing his tax return!

It seems much quieter again now with the change of tier. I can't hear any traffic noise which is nice.

I hope T has had a comfortable night and that your daughter will have some news for you today AnnG. I think we will be taking down our little trees and door wreaths at the weekend.

Better get lunch now.

SuffolkVera Report 31 Dec 2020 11:51

Morning everyone

A thick white frost here today as well. The temperature has just reached the giddy heights of 0 degrees and is forecast to start dropping again after lunch. OH went out for his normal walk at 9 this morning well wrapped up but came back with blue fingers and a red nose. I’ve just been outside to put out some more bird food and de-ice the bird bath and couldn’t wait to get back indoors. Brrrr

I had a quicker response from Sainsbury’s than I expected. They’ve put an e-voucher on my account to cover the cost of the items I complained about and thanked me for my honesty in telling them they had refunded me for an item I didn’t return. They won’t be asking for the refund back. Good result.

I’ve vacced and dusted downstairs but have some other jobs I want to do so must get on. I hope everyone’s aches and pains are a little better this morning. Take care and stay safe.

Morning Anng Mandy and all,

We have a sprinkling of snow here this morning and its still on the car and on the road but the suns out now so it won't last long as the sun is out too.

Little finger hurts on my left hand on my bad arm today.

Mandy we wondered if you were ok not being on here for a day or two.

Hope the others slept well last night.

Still no Island and i hope Frank's ok today the last day of the old year.

Wondered where you were mandy. Hope you can stay on line now, so annoying when that happens. Was it caused by the weather?

Morning all,

Very sharp frost this morning so white and sparkling in the sunshine .

The last couple of days the Internet has been dipping in and out so I need to read through the posts to catch up .
I have just looked at the emails and loved little robbie in the bath tub my did he splash
And that's one handsome horse Vera you picked a good one there he has his ears pricked up .

Hope your arm is a little better Mel and T is comfortable and everyone else is OK .

Will post this now just in case it plays up again.

Good morning all, a very frosty start today it is -1 out there. Hope your arm continues to improve Mel, loved little robbie's bath time, he made a good job of it.

Annx hope your knee is improving, stay off the exercise bike, better a few pounds over weight than a poorly knee.

Slept reasonably well, wonder what today will bring.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Dec 2020 22:39

Arm is a little better today thank you Ann. You can bet your bottom dollar people will still gather for celebrations. have you tried sleeping with a wheat bag on your knee? I find that helps with mine. I have Merlin monkey on my knees or between them as I only sleep on my right side and Hogwart hedgehog on my back or right hip.

That suffolk punch is a smasher is'nt she and such a great chesnut colour. I do hope Adam's mare has her foal ok this time as she lost it last time it died.

Annx Report 30 Dec 2020 20:44

Robbie had a good old bath didn't he Mel. It made me shiver just thinking how cold it would be!! Is the arm any better?

What a lovely horse your adoptee is Vera, a real beauty! I seem to recall they are all that lovely colour too.

I wonder if any idiots will still gather for the New Year celebrations. They should set them spud bashing for all the people in hospital or reduce their furlough payments.

It's very frustrating when you can't even get to speak to someone AnnG. It's hard to know what the situation may be and whether they are just too busy.

We have both felt so tired today and I'm still limping with my knee if I sit for too long. I think an early night for me and see if I can be up earlier tomorrow.

That is us in tier four as well so farewell to my hair appointment on the 15th January.

I feel fed up now. Daughter has once more not been able to get through to the hospital so, as they have not contacted us we assume that he has not gone back to Stroud which probably means there are no beds. Why on Earth can’t they answer the phone occasionally?

Lovely pics Mel. The rings look so fresh and attractive and that’s a great photo of the squirrel. It looks as though Robbie was having a good time :-). My own Robbie managed to fly in, grab a couple of mealworms and fly off again before the starlings came back.

I received my adoption pack from the Suffolk Punch Trust today with a photo of “my” horse. I’ll email it round as Sandra might like to see it and I know one or two of you are “horsey” people. I got the giggles reading the leaflet the Trust sent. “Your horse will keep you up to date with news from the farm by writing letters during the year. If you would like to write to your horse you can send post addressed to your horse to...”
This is some horse - it can read and write ;-)

After going round and round in circles I eventually found out how to get in touch with Sainsbury’s. After clicking through loads of options I eventually got to “How would you like to contact us?” It then gave 4 options: phone, via Facebook, via Twitter or via BSL, which I assume is British Sign Language but might mean something else. I didn’t like any of those options. Phone is the obvious one but friends tell me you can be holding on and on and on...and then get cut off. After going round in circles again I eventually found a “Contact Us” page and used that but goodness knows if I’ll ever get an answer. They really could take a lesson from Tesco in making it easy for their customers to contact them. Moan over.

It has seemed a funny day today. It’s not yet 5 pm and it feels more like midnight. I don’t seem to have done much today and I feel exhausted and OH doesn’t seem to have much energy either. I haven’t even phoned my neighbour yet as I planned to do so will probably speak to her in the morning now.

I hope you all have a good night tonight.

Annx Report 30 Dec 2020 16:26

Afternoon Everyone,

Well that's us in Tier 4 from tomorrow!

I slept well but not till after 2am so I slept in late again this morning. I got up for the loo and hobbled around the bed with my knee. It had really stiffened but has gradually eased through the day, so I'm keeping the leg straight which seems to help. No more exercise bike for a few more days though!

How is your arm today Mel? Your OH is good doing the cooking to help. Mine can't even be relied on to get the right thing out of the freezer! Mind you he managed to hot me up some soup the other day. Your rings you made are really nice with all the different things you put in them. The one with the Poinsetta flowers was very colourful. Yes Sandra will like the Squirrel!

I'm not surprised your sleep isn't good AnnG. You have no peace of mind with what's going on with T especially as you can't see him. Your world is upside down just now, but you are doing as well as anyone could in your shoes by keeping some routine and getting a few things done, The walk would have been good for you as you say.

I don't quite understand these Covid test results. I mean how do they know from a positive test with anyone that it isn't remnants of Covid DNA from some weeks before and that they aren't infectious any more? If they can tell the difference between the virus being present and remnants of the virus being present, why do they call both 'testing positive?'

Our snow soon went and it is just back to dreary and cold now.

I realised with my drawing that the lodge has had a piece built on to it at the side since I saw it for sale over 20 years ago. After carefully drawing it in and noticing it didn't quite match, I decided I liked it better before the addition, so have rubbed the new bit out and will leave it as it was, the way I liked it best! :-D

I have another survey to complete about covid this afternoon. It's from the research unit at the hospital.

I've also enrolled for another craft day on zoom in February. It is normally at the NEC but they are doing it via Facebook.I enjoyed their December one and a friend made a lovely silver clay pendant watching one of their video tutorials.
