Annx Report 3 Jan 2021 21:32

Evening All,

Well, what a shock but nice to hear from T like that AnnG and I see it wasn't a one off as he rang you again today. Out of bed for a little potter too so that is amazing. I hope he continues to pick up and hopefully starts to eat again. Glad your order came and is sorted now. They said Brexit might affect veg availability didn't they?Ours comes between 9.00am and 10.00am tomorrow. I must be mad having it so early, as we can't get up before 10.00am lately, but I thought it would be good to have it sorted early on so the rest of the day is free. We are setting 2 alarm clocks tonight!

Mandy Fitz's house is a lovely barn conversion and big like you say. I went there once with Jane to meet him and for a bite to eat. Well it turned out to be quite a buffet really and very enjoyable and where I first tried those wet walnuts. It's in a lovely peaceful spot, although I think some of the new building going on will be along the little lane that goes up to it.

Gill it sounds like Sandra is a bit of a handful, especially where her phone is concerned. I hope she has learned her lesson about taking it in the bath now. How nice you have a new twig to add to your three! :-)

I have been busy doing my painting and it's coming along quite well with most of the building done. Quite a bit left to do though with all the background and it is where I get nervous in case I spoil it with not concentrating! :-0 Hubby keeps coming in to look, which I'd rather he didn't till I finish for the day.

With being busy today, our few decs will be put away tomorrow afternoon now. Looking for a replacement lightbulb for the second bedroom OH found some little lights I bought ages ago. I can put them on the twig tree before it's put away, instead of having several small sets with all the battery packs that have to be switched on/off with those.

Today I booked a free 2 hour course on zoom about mind sets and diets! I wanted to book one on Botanical Drawing, but it is the same day as one of my other painting courses and I don't think my eyes and concentration can manage 2 in a day, plus the extra homework to do.

Tomorrow I must start on my 'to do' list again. There is always so much that needs doing! My knee is slowly improving so I should manage a quarter of an hour in the garage to find some more rubbish for the binmen on Tuesday! I can sort and OH will bin things.

Glad your arm is slowly improving Mel and I hope yours does soon after the sofa day Island!

Off to bed now so I hope the non sleepers have a better night.

Pretty sure he is still in Gloucester Mel. We won’t get too excited as he still has all his original problems the main one now being the lung cancer but it is a bit of a reprieve. If he goes back to not drinking as well as not eating and they stop giving him fluids then he will get dehydrated again and back to square one. Meanwhile it is good to have the occasional chat.

Thats wonderful news Anng and it sounds like he is a lot better. It must be so good to talk to him. I hope he continues to improve and they can get him some fruit that he likes. Did he say where he is? so yopu kinow if he,s in stroud or glouscester.

AnninGlos Report 3 Jan 2021 14:26

T just phoned. He spoke very clearly and said he was just going to the bathroom to wash and shave and clean his teeth which would help him to speak more clearly. He said he walked a bit yesterday and will do more today and he said the nurse explained (he said she gave him earache) that he would walk better if he ate more but he said it was hard. He said he was missing fruit which is what he needed. He said he would try and get some there.
He said in the room he is now it is difficult to reach the charger, not sure what he meant. He also said he went somewhere yesterday. Not sure what that meant either. Strange that he seems to have bounced back with a vengeance. I wonder if they have moved him and he has a better nurse. I wonder if he was in a Covid area after the positive test on the 27th because that would be a week. The problem with talking to him is he talks and doesn’t wait for a reply. I think there is a lag on his mobile as he often talks before I finish talking. A bit frustrating but at least he phoned.

you lot have been busy talking.

Vera i made a pinapple jelly once and put pinapple in it but it did,nt set. i hope the juice will not let your jelly set.

I am wanting to do a bit of crafting buy can,t with this arm.

AnninGlos Report 3 Jan 2021 12:48

Oh Vera housework. I have no excuse now for not doing it as the decorations have all been put away, but quite honestly it is not dirty, not going out and about and bringing in dust and bits on shes etc I don't make much dust or mess on floors. I will get around to whizzing round soon but this weather doesn't encourage you either. As for craft Vera, it is difficult to get motivated by card making, I have a fair stock and Christmas has gone, I will get back to it, just not today :-D I ought to have another go at painting. I did stir myself to look at all the Christmas cards and weed out the ones that I can use again next year. Then the next lot were for a group of friends who make recycled cards so there is a batch of cards for them, the remainder went in the recycling (No foil or glitter).
I have an oven ready lamb shank for this evening, there will be a bit left over I expect for a sandwich tomorrow as we always had these between the two of us.

Better go and think about lunch now, although I had breakfast late so not that hungry.

Morning/afternoon all

I’m pleased your arm is easier Mel but sorry yours is so painful Island. We could all have had a party in the night as I was awake from 2.30 on and got up at 4.30 to find codeine for a bad head.. i’m feeling a bit better now, just droopy.

I know that part of my problem is boredom and lack of motivation. Can’t go anywhere or do anything, don’t want to bother with housework cos no-one’s going to visit anyway, I’m not into doing crafts and I don’t watch much telly. That only leaves reading which I love but can’t do all day and every day. My mood hasn’t been helped by the fact that my brother has been very poorly and in hospital again and, of course, I can’t visit. I can really empathise with you AnnG. My brother and I are very close but it must be so much harder for you not seeing your OH. Your daughter seems to have so much trouble getting to speak to anyone at the hospital. Thankfully, my brother’s OH seems to be able to get through fairly easily and speaks to the ward sister and sometimes the consultant so we do know what is going on.

That’s more than enough of my miseries. I shall paste on a smile :-) :-) and buck my ideas up.

It’s cold here but it has been sunny for a change. It’s clouding over now and the forecast is for sleet showers on and off for the rest of the day and all night. Never mind, the house is warm and we’re not short of good food so nothing to complain about. It’s lamb shanks today with some nice veg. I’m not too sure about the pudding. I hate wasting anything so all sorts of oddments get frozen until I find a use for them. Today I took out a small pot of juice from a tin of pineapple and mixed it in an orange jelly. I’ll serve it with sliced bananas and call it something exotic and OH will think how clever I am ;-). It’s surprising what you can get away with if you give it a fancy name.

Right, better get on. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

AnninGlos Report 3 Jan 2021 12:06

That is the Tesco delivery sorted, just one acceptable sub and nothing missing, fairly large order so that was good. I did notice however when adding something yesterday that a lot of veg was unavailable.

Yes it was great to hear his voice again, however I am now on edge wondering id that was just a one day wonder or if he intends phoning again. I had got out of the habit of listening for the phone. We have an answer phone and have long beein in the habit of not picking up until we recognise a number or voice, I don't want it to go to the answer phone if T rings in case it confuses him more.

Island, not pretty certain they have not got him mixed up with anyone else. Because they try different ways of stimulating him, getting him to eat, drink, move. It depends what he has done how alert he is so one day he may have slept most of the day so will be unresponsive to the doctor and another day after being rehydrated may be alert.

In the night I got up for the loo and there was a real blizzard going on and laying. This morning at 0630 it was all gone. Just wet and horrible now still only 3 degrees.

morning all

there's a funny thing Frank - I was awake at 3am and up at 7am, to find some codeine for my very painful arm :-( Went back to bed at 9 feeling zonked. I think it's going to be a sofa day, might get dressed at some point.

Mel, I'm glad your shoulder is getting better - annoying isn't it?

We had a good blanket of snow yesterday, all gone now.

I hope everyone is ok and has a good day.

Morning Frank and all,

We,ve had a bit of brightness but now its dull and grey again.

Nothing to report except my arm is a lot better today and not so painful. Had a sleep in this morning so hav'nt been up that long.

Anng how nice you actually had a talk to T yesterday. I bet that was a lovely surprise to hear his voice.

Feels colder out there today as there's a bit of wind, not much but enough to make it feel colder.

Gillx Report 2 Jan 2021 21:23

What a lovely surprise to hear from T AnnG even if it has left you a bit confused.

I don't know why it takes so long for OH to have his jab Mandy, maybe they give the same time to more than one person, all I know up to now is the people who had their second jab yesterday were in the queue for 3 hours in the cold as it's being done in a tent behind the hospital. So long as he gets the second jab I think he'll be happy otherwise he's only covered for just over 50% so can still catch the virus.

I hope you feel better tomorrow Vera, good idea to keep away from the screen, you don't want to end up with a migraine.

I'd love to see a pic of your painting when it's finished Ann, you do lovely paintings which are always lovely to see.

I've just spent 5 hours trying to update Sandra's tablet with the help of Michelle, all the way through it Sandra was very stressed and kept trying to press buttons, how Michelle and I kept calm is anyone's guess. Her phone doesn't work properly so she's taking it to the repair shop on Monday, I might have to ring them first to see if she needs to make an appointment, some repair shops say you do so there isn't to many people in the shop at the same time. I've not told Sandra yet, the mood she's been in, so that's something I'm not looking forward to telling her later. She's just having a chat with Michelle on my phone so she can keep her battery charged on her phone with not being able to plug it in, she has a device that charges the phone but that takes up to 6 hours to fully charge, thankfully using the device charges her phone reasonably quick. She can't plug her phone into the socket incase it's still damp, although she's nearly done it twice before I managed to stop her.

I've been standing up for hours leaning over the worktop in the kitchen as that's the only place we could get a good enough signal so my back is hurting now.

Going to get myself a drink and watch some TV before bed. I'm so tired today so I think an early night is called for.

That was a lovely surprise for you AnnG. You must have been so pleased to hear from him.

I had intended to do a longish post but I haven’t felt brilliant today and now the type is going fuzzy so I’m going to stop. I hope you all have a good night. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Oh my goodness AnnG! Lovely that you heard from OH but how very confusing for you. I know to my cost how slow hospitals are with 'paperwork' but now I'm wondering if your OHs has been mixed up with another patient? There's just no consistency in what you are being told. Sorry to be blunt.

Evening all,

Oh AnnG it must have been so nice to hear from T what a lovely surprise for you to hear his voice again ,we have to think what day it is some times so it's not surprising he didn't now what day it is and if they move his bed when he's asleep no wonder he wonders where he is when he wakes up .

We have had a busy day getting the decorations down and put away we just have the box with the tree in to go away now but it needs some tape on it to close it up so that will be done tomorrow as the tape is in the shed and it was getting dark and cold to go out for it .
We had some sun this morning it made the day seem so much brighter and perked us up a bit ,it's surprising how just a little sun can make a difference .

Gill i don't understand if OH has an appointment time why does he have to queue for ages ,i don't think we have had people queuing here for their jabs they have the appointment time and go just a few minutes before time and have gone almost straight in so why all the queuing when they give you an appointment time .
That's lovely having a new baby in the family another little twig on the tree :-D

How is the painting going Ann looking forward to seeing it as they are always so good .
We like the mint Vienetta a few years ago they did a coffee one and that was nice but i haven't seen one since .
I forgot to say thanks for sending those photo's of Fitz's tree ,what a lovely house they must have, by the look of the photo's it's big .

How is the arm today Mel ,getting better i hope ,i meant to ask if the boys liked their masks .

Well I am spookedTalk about make me jump. T just phoned

Perfectly lucid except like the rest of us he wasn’t sure what day it is. He said he had not been able to find his phone but they found it for him this morning shut in his green case. Not confused, not delirious and speaking reasonably clearly.

He said something about yesterday they were going to move him and now he doesn’t really know where he is. I am not sure if they have moved his bed or what. They tend to move his bed when he is asleep sometimes.I asked him if he was still in Gloucester, he said he didn’t know. I told him to ask a nurse he said, yes I am now going to charge my phone. So I don’t know if he will ask a nurse. He mentioned his iPad but I was not sure if he said he couldn’t find it and didn’t want to ask him to repeat what he said.

So I am now totally confused. But it was nice to hear his voice which was not at all weak was quite clear.

Gillx Report 2 Jan 2021 15:45

Yes, Sandra has changed and is very moody now Ann, she tries to tell her dad and I what to do which is why her dad has to have words with her. She's on her phone now, it'll phone people but not much else so she's speaking with Michael, Michelle's boyfriend. I'm expecting her to start shouting again later when she tries to do other things on her phone and it doesn't work, so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasts. Michael sent her something to show if her screen is working and it looks like the top inch isn't working. I'm not clued up with modern phones so I don't know what that means, I'm sure Sandra will complain about it later though. She's in contact with a lot of old school friends and of course our two large families.

OH's just old me that some of his workmates had their second jab yesterday and were in the queue for 3 hours, he's working nights on Monday so he's decided to go early straight after his Covid test and get in the queue, hopefully by the time he gets to the end it'll be nearer his appointment time then he can come home and get some sleep before going to work a night shift. Luckily he's off work Sunday night. I hope it's not to cold, the vaccine's are being done in a tent behind the hospital and he'll be like a block of ice standing outside for hours. Good idea to take a chair if you can Ann, but hopefully you'll be able to go to your GP's surgery where you can sit down in the warmth.

My cousin's wife gave birth to their first child today, a little boy called Theodore, Theo for short. He was due in December so he was a little late. I've added him to our family tree and I'm waiting to see a picture of him on social media when they do it. It's nice to start the new year off with some good news, after the awful year we've just had.

Oh has just filled up the peanut feeder for me and put another fat ball in the holder. He also feed the chickens and bantams their corn. They don't like this wet weather and are not l;aying well at all.

Enjoy your bit of painting in the peace and quiet Ann.

We had another small hail shower this morning.
