Oh dear Frank, do you need a mat in the kitchen, could you do without it, one of the chief causes of falls in the home I think. More bruises then I hope you have not done more permanent damage.
I won't eat much now until 7pm this eening.

I have just noticed that the apple tree is just starting to sprout.

Frank

Frank Report 28 Mar 2021 11:36

Morning all, I won't say "GOOD" As last night Ihad a terrible fall in the kitchen.
I went to get a drink and a piece of cake, went to turn rounded must have caught me foot on the mat. DOWN I WENT like a sack of SPUDS. I managed to sit up, but between Ros and I I couldn't get to my feet. Good old Tony came to the rescue once again. When Ros rang him, he was in bed, and had to get dressed to come round. Got me into the armchair. where I sat until I went to bed.

My right side once again took the full force of the fall. I have a lot of pain in my right hip and my right arm. No shower this morning, just a wash down.I am in "Joggers" and T shirt, and that's how I will stay today.

I did the VEG for dinner today, last night. and this morning I have made the Yorkshire pudding, gravy and cheese sauce.Ros will cook dinner as and when we decide to eat. Roast Pork today

If I had that lot for breakfast, I would eat for the rest of the day.Ann. In fact all I have had is one COT and three bottles of water. I have such a rgurst on lately.

Ros has just found a bag of Gladioli, which she bought ad forgotten about. Is it to late to put them in now. ??? Suppose they will flower, even if they are a bit late. TWO CHANCES. lol lol

I am now going to refill my water bottle and sit in the conservatory with the paper and my book.

Ros rang to say goodbye to Conrad, but he was already at the airport, his flight is at 11.30 am so had to be there2 hours before. Eos thought his flight was this afternoon.

Stay safe everyone, speak again soon. xxxx

Mel
I was wondering about plum too.
There are a lot of wild plum trees in flower near here at the moment.

Good idea Gwyn can't see my pears to see if they are in flower. They could be plum too. shall have a look at the old plum tree on our south facing wall.

Good morning all.

Could Gill's trees perhaps be pears?

I think they have white flowers and there is a tree with lovely blossom near here

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Mar 2021 09:18

Morning Anng and all,

Grey damp and 9 degrees here too really miserable but tomorrow is suppose tobe good so I will look forward to that. Anng you could make a couple of cards today to keep you occupied.

Gill I was going to say I did'nt think they could be apple trees as none of mine are out yet and I have two Beauty of Bath and they are the first ones out usually. They could be Prunas of soem kind though as they are out in the village. There's one thats really pink but the frost got it this year and turned it all brown. I think Franks flowering cherry used to come out about this time of the year but he had it cut down.

From the ariel photos I sent it looks like you have a lot of shrub down one side of the garden. You may have more there than you think.

Good morning all, I slept but not enough I guess, woke early but of course it was really earlier. so it will be a tired day today. 9 degrees, dry and grey outside. I had better get dressed. Nothing planned so could be a boring day I think.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Mar 2021 07:44

Are they white cherry blossom trees Gill? Unusual to plant more than one and a bit early for fruit trees with white blossom like apple.
Or....Almond trees range from 6-9 meters tall and have finely serrated leaves that usually appear well after the tree has blossomed. Flowers have five white to pale pink petals that fade to a magenta center.

Are they very tall established trees and are they in your garden our outside the fence?

Thanks everyone for all your support, I'm feeling a little better now and think it might just be an infection. I'll still ring the doctor on Monday though, just to make sure.

When you were talking about jet washing your flag stones Ann it reminded me about something I found in our garden and forgot to mention. There are lots of flags stones like a pathway here and there over parts of the garden so we're hoping they'll be enough to make a base for the greenhouse to go on as we brought ours with us from our old place. All we need now is to clear a space for the greenhouse to live, that's not to windy.

Since I cut some of the hedge down I can see more of the apple blossom trees, they are so lovely. I counted about 5 or 6 of them the other day and even OH has said how nice they look with all their white blossom and this is from the man who said he hates the mess blossom trees make lol. It's like a beautiful secret garden down there and can't wait until we can see it properly.

Evening All,

Sorry to hear you have this health worry Gill, but as others say, try not to worry. You are at an age I think when things can go a bit haywire! It does need checking though, just in case, but don't assume the worst at this stage, they are just being careful so they can treat it soon if it needs it.

I'm glad you are making some progress with your work on the bungalow and it's good you are getting someone to dig out the hedge. It was backbreaking work when we did ours at the old place and the stems were like tree trunks at the bottom it was so old and it was a much shorter hedge than yours. It sounds like they are concerned about the DPC being breeched doing the bricks, but it might be worth asking what it would cost to have an injected DPC as that may be cheaper than paying for rendering that would need repainting.

So you are all getting your second jabs coming through now so they should be moving down to the rest of us soon. Our Boots Chemist on the retail park where I had my eye test starts doing them on Monday, but I expect we will be sent to the Racecourse again.

I finished my vase of roses painting today (not impressed!) so I have a few weeks break now and can catch up in the greenhouse a bit and HW!! :-S OH did some notes this morning and watched the Rugby this afternoon.

It says in our account that we will be switched to fibre on the 9th April, so a while to wait as we keep having connectivity problems with Sky since we changed the router. At least I have no courses on the changeover day.

I saw the doctor called Chris with the coronavirus clock talking about the booster this morning AnnG. I suppose we may need one every year for now the way these new variants keep emerging, plus they don't really know how long the vaccines will last yet do they.

I wonder if it will be mayhem again next week with the rules being eased. My friend wants us to go to her house for beading next week. She said we could sit outside but I don't trust that will happen as I remember talk of going inside when they got cold before when things were eased. Two of us are going to wait a bit longer first.

Loads of washing to do tomorrow after the food drop and wipe down, ready to put out in the warm weather promised for Monday! I hope to get the jetwasher out then to do the slabs ready for sitting out eating and enjoying the garden. I must get some seeds planted too. I found some seeds I had saved in a paper bag the other day and just couldn't remember what they were. I was even going to send you all a pic to see if you knew and then I realised they were Snapdragon seeds!

that is good then Vera getting the second jab, you sort of knew it must be imminent didn't you.

I find all sorts of weird things happen when I am on my Ipad, I much prefer to do long posts on the main computer.

Frank I had my second jab yesterday (Pfizer, my arm is a little bit achy but not really bad at all and not tender to touch. Did you have the Pfizer.

I did a long post which I hadn’t quite finished, got distracted and when I came back it had gone walkabout! Goodness knows where it is :-|. This only seems to happen on the iPad so I’ll have to use the big computer more. I can’t redo it all now.

Gill, sorry to hear you are unwell but try and stay positive. You’ve been very sensible getting it checked. If there is something wrong you’ll get early treatment. If it turns out to be less serious you will be reassured. I don’t know if this will help reassure you but I suspect nearly all of us have had these scares at one time or another. I have had precancerous cells and polyps removed, have had bleeding, had scans and cameras and examinations in all sorts of unmentionable places but at 79 I am still leading a happy and active life. Stay strong and stay positive <3

Just been distracted again but this time my post hasn’t disappeared. It was our surgery on the phone booking us in for our second jab on Wednesday :-)

Good afternoon all,

Both Ros and I had our 2nd JAB Yesterday afternoon.I can't speak for Ros, as she is out with Martine, but am in a lot of discomfort. I had the injection in my right arm, as I am left handed. I can't bear to touch my arm, as the pain is quite severe.

How many of you have had your 2nd Jab, and what are your reactions. ???

I haven't done anything today, other than the veg for dinner. I am sitting in the armchair watching a bit of tele.

Might get back later.

The drains look like they'll be the first to be done AnnG, providing the quote isn't to high as they want to start next week cutting the trench around the property to install the Aco drains. As far as I know that's the only digging they'll be doing and it'll only come about 6 inches or less from around the bungalow. OH will need to move all the bags of rubbish, but once he's done that the digger should be able to get past the drain's men. Luckily one of the men doing the drains gave me the gardeners number so they know each other. I'd like the drains and hedge done before the scaffolding has to go up for the brickwork as that'll stick out a few feet so there'll be no chance of a digger getting around the back then.

I got a number for a brickwork fella off our neighbour the other day so I'm going to Google him now. I always do that before I ring them just to make sure they're okay. I should think any bad reviews would pop up on a search so I'd rather know what they're like before I make the call. The last brickwork fella I rang gave us a very big quote so I'm hoping asking for another quote off this new fella will give me some idea of the price, plus I like to have more than one quote for each job if I can. I've had so many problems trying to find a builder I'm pleased I managed to get the one quote, even if it's higher than I thought it would be. I think I just need to try and do a price comparison, to make sure the quote I've already got is a fair one and I'm not being ripped off.

Well, I'd better go and Google this new brickwork guy to see what I can find out. Hopefully he'll be on checkatrade or some other similar site.

AnninGlos Report 27 Mar 2021 11:53

Hopefully it is nothing serious Gill but you will know more after the scan.

You seem to be organising the order of jobs ok. Take each batch of jobs (garden, builder, gas, inside, outside and have a good look at them then make a list, as you have been thinking, as to which job in each part needs doing before the other jobs can be done. I used to know the graph for doing that, many years ago it was part of one of my jobs. But also be aware of how any jobs impact on the need of the man with the digger needing to access the property.

Good luck with it all working out. Will be great when finished.

Gillx Report 27 Mar 2021 11:45

I've just had a call off a doctor from the out of hours surgery, I need to go for an ultrasound scan which I have to book through my doctor so I will ring him on Monday. I was in a bit of a state on the phone but the doctor was lovely and wouldn't go off the phone until I felt better and stopped crying. She's going to write a letter, I presume an email, to my doctor so he should know what's happened by the time I ring. It looks like the symptom has eased now, (bleeding) but I'll feel better once I know what caused it and have treatment if that's what's needed. It takes up to 2 weeks for the appointment for the scan.

Yes, I was thinking about birds nest to Mel, so I kept a look out for them, thankfully there wasn't any in the bit I cut back.

All of sudden from not being able to get hold of anyone I seem to have lots of people now, so I need to think of the correct order to have the jobs done so the workmen aren't in each other's way. The gas metre has already been sorted and should be done around mid April and providing the quote isn't to high the drains should be started next week and finished by the time the metre needs to go in, then we can get someone to take the chimney out and sort the bricks on the bungalow.

In the meantime we might have time for the gardener to come and dig out the hedge, then we can see the boundary and work out how much new fencing we'll need. I've decided to wait to have the boiler put in until the chimney is out with them both going in the same room, plus with having a coal fire it's going to be a messy job and I don't want the new boiler covered in coal dust. We also need the kitchen floor repaired and a new back door as we only have a wooden single glazed one at the moment, but at least things are starting to move in the right direction now and it'll help take my mind off the scan I've got to have.

I'm looking forward to the F1 starting again today, poor OH is in work tonight so will miss the qualifying but he's off tomorrow so won't miss the race. We watch it on Channel 4 so only watch the highlights. Even if we did subscribe to Sky we couldn't watch it as that's not been put in yet. So we'll be watching it on my laptop with the Freeview box going off all the time.

I must admit I miss Sky and can't wait for it to go in next week. I just hope they can come inside this time as they weren't allowed to a few days after we came here, so it had to be booked in again.
