Morning two Ann's and all,
Bright sunny morning here too and it looks quite calm but I hav'nt been out yet.
All organised with your breaks away then Anng. Lets hope everything will calm down a bit and we don't go into another lock down. When all this started oh said to me its going to be longer than a year maybe 2 and a half is more like it.
Last night my left hip was very sore and I thought it would go off by this morning but it has'nt. Too much going from pillar to post with the shopping yesterday and the pots of plants outside I think and I forgot to take my pills yesterday. Took one in the morning but forgot lunchtime to take the cardicore and asprin and only realised when I went to take my statin at night.

Morning AnnG and All,
Sun's shining here too but it's chilly. Hope you get all those tasks sorted AnnG and how nice you have those breaks to look forward to over the next few months. It will do you good and be a help to have a change of environment and some company after all these months.
I better get the washer on and and check my seedlings, then some paperwork to do! I need to start my bank switch soon as they start the monthly charge next month. I want to ring SKY to get an engineer in and I might see if I can have a look at the new printer then and the instructions!
Hope everyone slept well and has a good day. BBL.

Two weeks away booked in July from 13 to 27th For Tony's birthday with Lyn and Joe and three days in August from 24th to 27th in Portsmouth and maybe a few days in August to Stephen's (he will collect me) around my birthday
So getting organised

Not found out much more except they are looking for an explosive substance and he is still in custody and the police presence is for when they need to do a further search

Evening All,
A busy 2 days what with courses and haircut! I hardly recognised myself after my locks were trimmed and coloured and my neck feels chilly now. Only 3 customers at a time and hands are sanitised before you get through the door and before they let you out. If you brought a coat, they sanitise your hands again after you remove it. I got an email later thanking me for my custom which was nice.
That was exciting in your close with the police and the arrest AnnG! I hope you get to find out what it was all about. You will certainly be busy now after your plant shopping trip. I bet it was nice to be buying some plants. I am looking forward to making a very early in the morning trip to one of our quieter garden centres maybe next week.
Our new printer has arrived so that's another job for me to get it connected and working etc.
I gave the NHS some feedback by email on my vaccination experience at the vaccination centre I went to. There was a request to do so at the centre when I went. I got a lovely reply by email today, thanking me for what I had said and saying they will pass my comments to the staff there. :-)
I was up before 7.00am this morning so I could uncover my seedlings in the greenhouse and shower and do my short spell on the cross trainer before my course. I also put the washer on and OH pegged the washing out later. He has done some weeding and he says the garden bin is half full now.
That was just the sort of thing OH would do Vera!! lol. I suppose they are worried at the tip that people will just pour in one following the other, but with no-one else queuing you'd have thought they would turn a blind eye. At our tip they ask you what you've got and tell what order to visit the different skips to drop your rubbish off as it is all separated into different skips.
Mandy, we are watching that tonight and it will be interesting to see how the little ones have grown on Our Yorkshire Farm. :-)

A jobsworth Vera, you have to laugh though.
No we have not heard any more but his Mum was at the house earlier talking to another neighbour and there has been a police presence all day.nee wonder if their search has left the house insecure so the police are guarding it. Can’t think of any other reason for them to be there. Maybe we will never know.
Well we got the signature witnessed so will get that letter posted tomorrow. Son arrived at 1pm and we scattered most of T’s ashes on the edge of the nine hole golf course just inside a stand of trees. It was lovely and sunny and the birds were singing and it was good to have both children with me. Son in law did the scattering as the urn was really heavy. We kept dome ashes back so some are in the garden and some in two pots under the soil so he is still with me. Fortunately there is no wind at all today so all good. And daughter has sanded off the hand rail.
Son went home with one of T’s sweaters for granddaughter, a chunky one (she asked if there was one): The tools for her, a figurine of a golfer with T’s name on as seniors champion and cuff links for grandson and himself and T’s ring for himself.

O Vera that was an exciting day on your trip the the tip!! What a lot of nonsense over nothing but I suppose he was told to do that and so he did. Silly really if you could see there was nobody in front of you. Did you remember the sandwiches and coffee?
I have been out in the garden this afternoon still fightiong my way through the plants that were outside my shed. Some pots have nothing inthem and some are cuttings I took toput inthe bit of garden oh made me round the back of the bungalow where the mower won't reach. He got as far as spraying the weeds off last year but it is covered in weeds again this year. He has also bought membrain to go down with some kind of pegs and wanted me to plant through that but without that down the plants have been waiting over a year to go in.
Ordered my chickens food yesterday and wanted two 100 litres of compost but they had'nt got the one I want. I want Athur Bowers potting compost as I have founds that better than the Westaways is it? Too many grass cutting in that compost and the water goes right through it and it shrinks badly in the pots.

Another beautiful day here, sun, blue skies and not quite so cold as it has been.
I got a couple of loads of washing on the line before we went to the tip, and that's all dry. There's just the sheets to do tomorrow.
Our away-day to the tip was fun. It is in a narrow lane and since Covid there has been a board part way down the lane where you are supposed to wait until waved forward to another wait just in front of the entrance. When we arrived there was nothing in front of us at all so OH drove straight up to the second stop near the entrance. He was very firmly told off. He shouldn't have moved up till one of the workers indicated that there was space for him to do so. He did point out that he could see that there was no-one there at all and that there was plenty of space but it was their job to decide when he could join the non-existent queue. OH then asked where they would like him to wait - should he back up to the first stop, stay at the second stop or what? The answer was "Oh, you can go straight in as there's no-one else here at the moment". Do you ever feel as though you are living in a parallel universe?
On the way back I ventured into Sainsburys. I just wanted a nice loaf for our lunch but I noticed some lovely small bunches of freesias so I bought a couple and took one in to one of our neighbours. This is the one whose husband cooks via Zoom with his grandchildren and regularly brings us goodies. Yesterday he arrived with two pieces of chocolate and orange tart.
Have you heard any more about the young lad that was arrested AnnG? That's the sort of excitement you could do without. I hope it turns out to be a storm in a teacup as it would be really sad if such a young boy has got involved in something criminal and dangerous.
I think your Scruff dog would melt the hardest heart Island. What a little heartthrob he is.
I'd better go and start cooking dinner and I must remind OH to take the bin down the road. He does it willingly but never thinks of it himself; he always has to have a prod from me.

Ros has just gone to get her nails done. It's been months she she has been. This lockdown has put a lot of small shops/business in all sorts of trouble. Let's hope it's all back to normal now.
What a beautiful day we have had. I have been sitting out on the patio reading my book, with a large bottle of cold water by my side. I have drunk so much water lately , rather than Tea or Coffee. In fact I fancy a COT now, so will say BYE for now. Take care and enjoy this weather. xxxxx

Weeell! Over. Our peaceful little road saw some excitement this afternoon, nothing to do with relaxation from lockdown. We were watching pointless when the doorbell rang. Friend next door said. Did we realise the Close was full of police. Five police cars, one across the end of the road and at least a dozen police some of whom were ion riot type outfits with guns.
A young 16/year old lad next door but one to me was taken to one of the cars and subsequently arrested. The police were in the hiouse after searching the gardens, must have been here two hours.
Found a newspaper report in Gloucester Citizen live. Something to do with reported explosive substance. But don’t know any more. He is such a quiet lad, Polish and his Mum is a dentist.

For a change I also slept well last night. I got up for the loo about 3.30 and it did take me quite a while to get back to sleep but, apart from that I slept from about 11 pm to 7.30 am.
It has been such a beautiful day here; quite chilly but one of those crisp days with blue skies and sunshine. You needed to be wrapped up warmly but it was a real joy to be out. I only went into town as I had to go to the opticians and sort out my prescription sunglasses – MORE EXPENSE as Frank would say. Like Mandy I was surprised at the number of people around. It’s as though everyone thinks the shops are only open for one day and they have got to get in quick. What really surprised me was the long queues of men outside the barbers shops. There are several in town and I passed 3 on my way to the opticians and they all had queues going down the road but everyone was keeping well spaced. It made me laugh as the barbers shops had all put up masses of big red and white balloons. It was like carnival time. While I was in the opticians OH took a big box of stuff to the charity shop. I think there are 3 boxes of stuff and a few loose bits that have been in a spare bedroom for months so I’m hoping we can get rid of it over the next week or two.
I bet you enjoyed your trip to the garden centre this morning AnnG. I think just doing something “normal” would lift all our spirits. It sounds as though you have come back with plenty of plants to keep you busy. I’ve got some garden gift tokens to spend as well so might soon venture out to a garden centre. I might get a few annuals but OH has bought quite a few plants online recently and we really don’t have room in our tiny garden for much more. I would like a couple more big pots so I could put my vouchers towards those.
Talking of gardens you must be quite excited at the thought of what you might find in yours Gill. Winter jasmine and bluebells is a good start. Did you ever manage to find out what the white blossom trees are?
Tomorrow we are off on our excursion to the tip. I’ve got my snacks and flask out ready to be filled in the morning. It will be so exciting to watch OH lumbering up and down the steps to the containers to dump all our rubbish lol
As I have had quite a busy day and he has not done very much at all I’ve informed him that he is on dinner duty. I’ve told him there is plenty of cold pork and to produce a meal from that. As there’s no sign of any action from him yet I suspect he is going to shove some frozen chips in the oven and some baked beans in the microwave, not exactly haute cuisine but it will fill a hole.
