Afternoon everyone,
Muggy here too, keeps going over really grey but no rain so far , i will have to keep an eye out as i have a line of washing out .
Yesterday i had little Katie for the day as she didn't have to go to school ,she was so good you didn't know she was there she played all day with the little toy cooker and all the pots and pans and toy food, today she has gone to Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens on her first school trip !! she's only three and went off as good as gold bless her.
Still messy here in my kitchen ,hubby's been sanding walls down!! oh the mess dust every where !! i think he's now decided that he's going to emulsion the walls before the work tops go on , i just want it finished now, i carn't find things as i've boxed some things up i'll be glad when its all done .
My friend gave me a couple of trays of Begonias ,i want to see if i can get them planted this afternoon ,every where is so dry though.

Harry had one of those kitchen toys for his birthday with all the plastic food both he and Finley played with it for hours, Finley especially enjoyed the plastic fruit that was joined in the middle with velcrose and a little plastic knife he spent ages cutting it in half and sticking it back together.
I'm just waiting for guests to arrive, dare I say it ...... the suns out ...... I have deliberately not put the cushions out on the patio chairs yet.
I must stop eating the nibbles, there'll be nothing left when they get here ;-)

Mandy I bet you are fed up to the back teeth now with all the upheaval .How much longer will it be before the kitchen is finished?
Frank I didn't recall you mentioning going to a funeral today.I must have missed something.
Well I am dashing off now as I have managed to get a hair appointment. It has gone so flat and horrible I can't bare to wait until next week when I am supposed to have it done and don't want to look a right old sight at Williams birthday do on Sunday. Just need to shut windows and doors and I'm off :-D :-D

Mandy it will all probably come together quickly at some point but the waiting is always awful.
We have one of those kitchen things in the old workshop. It was given to us for a jumblesale for the bell fund but we hav'nt had one since. I may have to see if I have any of the food etc. If I have I will send it on Mandy.
Have you had your hair done now Jane. I keep thinking I will have mine cut as it is getting on my nerves a bit now. Lots is breaking off and stuffing the hoover up and I have to give that a hair cut every time I use it.

Afternoon all,
I am like a vat of dripping, So hot and humid.
The funeral was at midday at the local church. It was packed as he was a Mason, and they all turned up from the lodge. (I think that's what they call it) I did tell you all about it JANE but you must have missed it.
We went down to pick up Lewis from school. and took him to the dentist. He has to go back in two weeks to have a tooth removed. She said she didn't have time today. What a curfuffle . (You know what I mean) Why the hell she couldn't do it while he is up here I don't know. :-| :-|
Then went to Tesc# and got a few bits, got home about 4.45 pm.
I think it will be F & C tonight, as I haven't got any energy to cook, plus I haven't got anything out.
No doubt Lewis will want to go to the club this evening, it will be a break for me also. They have a games area outside, with Basket ball, football, tennis, etc. So he can play out if he wants to while I have a pint or three. !!! hic hic
Should be able to pop in later to see what's going on.
How's the Glam Puss, after her hair do ?? lol lol
Glad the kitchen is coming along Mandy, I don't think I would want to be working in this weather. POOR OH.
Have a nice evening Maureen, and don't drink to much.

Back from hairdressers now.I have had a fair bit taken off this time.Nigel says I'm going curly !!!!!!!!.I said I must be turning into a child again ,but I hated my curls so will keep drying it as straight as I can.I went to Nigels litte salon in Geddington today(Frank will know where I mean). It was so warm in there. No air con and in the old days it would have been 2 or 3 cottages. It's very quaint. Mel you have been saying for years now you might get yours cut lol.It will probably do it good and get it back in a good condition again.
Jess has very long black wiry kind of hair and I find hers all over the house :-S and in the plug holes. It's just the 2 old codgers here now .But then Hannah and John are here for tomorrow night arriving in the afternoon and leaving Sunday morning, when Chris and I go off to Cheltenham.James will be back on Monday afternoon. So it is a very short reprieve :-|
Frank what a shame Lewis couldn't have had that tooth out.But I suppose it is a longer appointment and that would have made following appointments late. Bet you will have a nice evening at the club with him tonight :-D

It got brighter here later in the day and the sun came out.
Went up the tunnel to water and saw a lump in the black poly in the same place. I put my hand down and felt a round body all curled up so went on watering and when I finished I lifted the poly a little and the snake is back there. I hope she lays here eggs under there as I have had no mice in the tunnel this year and I expect it was the snake keeping the population down.
Just had roast lamb carrots, peas, roast teddies and parsnips. Luverly..........

Morning/Evening All
We had some heavy rain in the night ,but when I looked out the bedroom window I realised I had left the bath and toilet mats out :-S So they are now dripping..But it's beginning to look a bit brighter now so I will leave them . Chris is working this morning, and should be home about 12.
Maureen I hope you had a good time yesterday.
Hopefully we will hear from Ann today and see some good pics of her holiday :-D I always look forward to her photos.
I see the terrible flooding in Calgary.I have relatives living there and I stayed with them when I went to Canada.I'm hoping they are all safe and sound and away from the flooding. It just looks so bad :-(
Must crack on now so BBL

Morning Everyone, Evening Kim
Has been pouring down here, and it is much cooler, good for the garden :-)
Not got much on today, apart from doing a bit of shopping in Morr**ons , and Katherine wants her dad to go up and fix their shower, can't get the pressure right, dad is the handy man while mum is the land lady.
Jane I bet you feel better with your hair cut, I wish I could get mine sorted out, keep meaning to go and ask Fiona (another one) next door if I can have the number of her hairdresser she comes to the house, I will have to make a reminder on the pin board.
Off to make a coffee and dry my hair.

It has got quite breezy here now but has brightened up a bit.
Do any of you remember when a packeet of cornflakes had waxed paper as an inner lining instead of the polythene we get now?

Morning all/ Evening Kim.
Home alone again. Lewis decided to you out with his Nan, to Morris### and have a chat to Martine. They are then going to the cinema. They don't know what's on, so will take pot luck.
We had F & C last night and like a silly boy I am, I had batter on it. I must say I did enjoy it, but when it kept coming back to me till 3.00 am I wished I hadn't had it.!!
We didn't go out last night, I began to have one of my bad turns, so thought better of it. My left knee is getting beyond a joke. It just seems to lock up without any warning, and I end up stumbling down the lounge. I try to use my stick more indoors, but it gets in the way.
Your SNAKE seems to have made itself at home under the poly Mel, you will have to try not to disturb her, you might be lucky to have eggs, then BABIES. Wouldn't that be nice <3 <3 <3
The weather has taken a turn. Strong winds, showers and lots of clouds. I won't be doing anything but read and watch T.V.
Jane I use to like to go to "THE STAR" at Geddington. The meals were excellent, I also use to drink in the other little pub in the village, one entrance is on the main road back to Kettering.
My scabs have got to the picking stage, I am trying not too, but it's very difficult (SMACKED LEGS)
I don't know what Ros thought she was feeding tomorrow. The leg of lamb is huge, there is only five of us and it cost over £14.00 We don't like cold lamb, so Harvey can take the rest home with him for sandwiches for work !!
Lewis just rang, wanted the recipe out of his book, for Cheese Cake. I rang him back when I found it. Started to dictate the ingredients when the pen ran out. I said buy another and ring me back, but I haven't heard from him.
Well the sun is trying to break though the clouds, so will go and feed the birds and change water..

Hello Everyone,
I wish I could look so favourably on snakes as you do Mel. We have a number of poisonous ones here, so I'm afraid I grab the hoe when I see one. I dare not get close enough to see the shape of it's eyes or try to decide what type it is. One time, at our old house, I was picking bush beans and the puppy was with me, and started to bark. He was just a few rows ahead of me. I assumed it was a frog, but suddenly he made a dash for the house. I went in and his face was already swollen - he couldn't even see out of one eye and you couldn't really see his nose. The vet gave him some kind of an injection. We let him sleep between us that night, he was so pitiful, but, by the next morning he was back to his old rascally self. It took two days before we found that copperhead, still in the beans. He didn't bite anyone again!
I've been busy this week at church. We have a week of Vacation Bible School every year, and I've volunteered for the past two to help in the kitchen. We make sandwiches and snacks every evening. The little ones come in every evening, anxious to see what kind of treats they will have. It's a very small church, and everyone are invited. We always get some children who never go to church any other time, including my little GD. She is 5, and I also take my GGD who is 6. Today is 'Fun Day'. They're going to be allowed to bombard the preacher with water-balloons. Parents get to come today and the children will show what they have learned this week. We're going to make hot dogs with chili and all the trimmings. We'll be outside part of the time, so I will stay in the shade. It's going to be around 30'. Temps. will soon begin to rise.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Ruby.

Ruby ,it sounds like a busy time for you :-D.What great fun for the children.Poor Preacher, does he know what he has let himself in for???? At least he will be kept cool with all the water lol.I would be like you and find shade.I would be hopeless in that heat . Your poor little dog ,getting bitten by that snake :-(,thank goodness he survived it. We are so lucky in this country .I think our only poisonous snake is the Adder.
Frank, keep those Mitts off those scabs .MInd you I would be having a go myself if it was me lol.The Star pub has always been good for meals ,and I have been a few times over the years.I'm not that keen on the other you mentioned.I c think it is the White Hart.
Hannah and John arrived and they have just finished their early dinner.I did Lasagnes .We will eat ours much later. They are off to a party at The Red Lion, down the road in the village (Frank will know this one too)
The wind is so strong now.I have had to bring the towels in from the line as they kept slipping out of the pegs :-S No rain though :-D

Always nice to hear Ruby's tales. As Jane said I think our only poisonous one is the Adder which has a continuous black wiggly mark all the way down it's back.
I once looked after a python for a young couple when I had the pet shop. I called him Monty!! and I had to feed him live mice but could only do this when the shop was shut so nobody could see. I had him for about three weeks. Some customers would'nt come in the door where I had his tank and used the other one a lot further away.
I am glad your puppy survived Ruby. Poor chap and I bet that taught him a leson for the future.

Hi all,
Hi Ruby nice to see you joining us again. I think I would be like you, a spade or something to chop the little Bs head off !!!
Lewis and Ros have gone to collect the Chinese. The little bugg## placed his order. Chicken and sweet corn soup, BBQ spare ribs with sauce, Crispy duck and pancakes, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. When I said anything else my lord. He said "PRAWN CRACKERS" Good job he's not here ever week. Have to spoil him sometimes ;-) ;-) ;-)
I spent over two hours in the kitchen this afternoon while they were out. I have prepared all the veg for tomorrow. Cauli, Broch, fresh peas and baby carrots, runner beans, cabbage and Asparagus. Made my Yorkshire pudding mix, and cheese sauce. I have even made a Rhubarb and Apple crumble. The Leg of lamb has garlic and rosemary stuck in it. Gravy all made, so I can have a quiet morning tomorrow.
They are just back.
