Hi My grandad Albert James Clark's first wife Emily Elizabeth wood vanishes after the 1901 census and he marries my Gran in about 1905. I have been through the death records and can find no sign of her. |

These are quite co-incidental (thinking of the dying in childbirth angle) but too different a name: |

There are 2 Emily Woods born Farnham in the 1891 census - might you have assumed it was the wrong one? I think it likely yours is Emily Louisa not Emily Elizabeth. |

Ahhh so much help... wow. I think I have the wrong person and Emily Lousa must be the rigth one. I do know that Grandad lived with father in law Henry Wood. in 1901 census in Wrecclesham. Was Emily L's ather Henry. I think I got the Elizabeth from an earlier census, I am now more confused. |

Thanks folks... I think it must have been Emily Louisa.... how tragic, and my granddad was perhaps not the most nobel of men. His first wife was described as a invalid who could not satisfy him. I suspect she lived when the twins died, but either then died 2 years later in pregnancy as gran said or just plain died. I will send off for her death cert. |
