Find Ancestors

does anyone have access to the 1911 census my credits have run out and (find my past) site doesnt seem to want to accept my card. im trying to find who herbert windett born 1909 was living with in 1911 we are having great problems finding this out. the sad thing was that we were in Kew records office all day yesterday but somehow missed looking at Herberts records.
would appreciate this help.

Hi Ginny

No, didn't pay. Used this method. Works best with less common surnames.

Look in index for person. This case only gives one answer because of the unusual name. Make a note of where the person is (West Ham)
Go back to the search page and remove first name and date of birth and add place of residence, then search agian. This should bring up the entire household. You can also put the first name of the person into the 'other members of household' box, to help narrow the search further.

I know some people get more info than this by using the references generated by the actual webpage, but I've not tried this myself.

Herbert Windett was my great grandfather Percival Windett's brother, I have some details on my tree going back to about 1700's on James Windett's line.
