My birth mother was Joan Louise Williams and I was born in Weoley Castle, in the District of Selly Oak, Birmingham in September 1940. I was given away a week later. She was only lodging there and left soon after I was born. On my Birth Certificate her occupation was given as Assistant Cook, but on a letter from her to the Courts at the time of my official adoption in 1941 she was commencing work as a conductress with Birmingham City Transport. Evidently I have a brother who was born about 1936. I don't know his name, but have been searching since 1986. If anyone knows of Joan Louise Williams or her son I would be eternally grateful to hear from you.
