Find Ancestors

Im hoping someone can help me with this...

My 2nd great grandmother was Mary Frances Trent. She was aborn 20th April 1862 in London.
Her father was William Francis Trent. He doesnt appear on a single census with his parents. He is not on the familysearch website or on freebmd.

Where he does appear, he says that he was born in 1841/1842 in Old Kent Road, London.

I think that he married a Mary Fernley; they had three children that I can find; Mary Frances, 1862, Susan, 1867 and William 1865.

William F Trent died in 1898 in London.

Does anyone know what I can do?
Anywhere else I can search or do I just have to leave this one as a dead end?

It may be that he was born somewhere completely different and the family moved to the Old Kent Road when he was very young. If he grew up there he may have thought he was born there.

Did you get mother's name from the birth certificate. Have you William's marriage cert to Mary? That should give father's name and occupation which would help.

I cannot find a registration for William anywhere. I have thought of ordering his bmerriage certificate, but nothing can be found.
and yes thats how I think the fernleys come into things. Mary has that she was born in the same date/area. Although I cannot be 100%

His child's birth cert will confirm his wife's surname and their marraige will confrm his father's name and occupation

Can't see them on 1871 - I've been searching for Susan (1867 +/- 1 year) and trawling through the list but nothing obvious ...

K, that does sound really possible, the other census's "William" was a housepainter/painter.
