Yea, I know the feeling,every time someone asks your surname you always have to spell it out. Still ! people always remember you, in fact my son always spells his surname rather than wait to be asked.Its good to be a little bit different he says. I was advised by an uncle who stays in Austrailia that the name dates back to the late 1400's in the Scottish borders, Can anyone confirm this.Please Note the spelling was suggested to be TINLIN at that time. |

Hi! In my tree, I have a Tinline link - a cousin of my mum married a descendant of a farming couple John Tinline and his wife Janet Hume, who lived in the Scottish Borders, Roxburghshire or Berwickshire. I haven't researched them further, as they are not blood relatives. They would have been living first half 19C. |
