My GG Grandfather was Thomas Smith born in Newcastle upon Tyne 1872c,he died in the 1940s on his marriage certificate it states private in N.F any ideas,could this be the Northumbria Fusilliers.Any ideas welcolm

If you search the National Archives you should be able to purchase his medals/service card for £3.50.
here is one possible:

Medal card of Smith, Thomas Charles
Corps: Northumberland Fusiliers
Regiment No: 65226
Rank: Private
