You need to buy the marriage certificate to help you. This is the reference:-

Ethel Hayward, spouse Fields
June qtr. 1914, Scarborough, 9d, 779

Claire - No unfortunately I don't. I only know this accurate date as it was supplied by a descendent of Brian's via his second wife - Ethel died in 1918 leaving a 2 yr old daughter.

Does the marriage certificate give an occupation for William?

Are the witnesses family members?

Margaret I assume that you have Ethel's marriage cert, does it give her age?

with guidance and/or help. Let me explain:

I have a Bryan Fields who married Ethel Hayward on 13 June 1914 St. James', Scarborough. I have all Bryans background - several generations from Scarborough. All I have on Ethel is that her Father was called William Hayward and that she had siblings Peggy, May, Maud, Edith and Ida. Unfortunately I do not know when any of these children were born, neither do I have their mothers name. However, working on the basis that Ethel was married in 1914 in Scarborough, I am trying to find William Hayward, wife ?? and at least some of these children on 1901 census, probably in Scarborough, in order to progress with this Hayward line. As I said in the heading.... this looks like an impossible task. Any suggestions as to how I can find them with this scant information?
