So it can't be the same one if he wasn't born until September!

His birth looks like it was registered June 1871 Chertsey. Surrey. Irene

Actually on the 81 census Arthur is the grandson of Ann Eagle, age 70, a widow. She does however have a daughter Emma, aged 28 who's unmarried.
Doesn't explain that christening record though which has to be him with all 3 christian names matching.

But the only Charles & Charlotte that I can see on the 71 census are aged 61 and 53 respectively. I doubt that she was pregnant!

As Emma is unmarried, I suspect that he was never registered.

Do you have his marriage cert? His father's name should be on that.

You may be unlucky and find he was not registered, registration was not made compulsory until 1875.
Or his registration may not have made it to the GRO. Have you tried the records office for the district he was born in? They will search for you.

I am coming to the end of my tether trying to find a registration of birth for an Arthur Walter Lewis Eagle born 1870 or 1871 He was my great Grandfather and married to Edith Applebee in 1890 Thank you for any help. I think his mother was Emma or Sarah Emma and I'm trying to find out who his father was
