Can anyone please help me. I am trying to find my Great Grandfather's Military Records. I know that he served with the Royal Marine Labour Corps between 1917 and 1919, his name is Albert Smith No 10876 (s). What I would like to know is did he have any previous Military background as he was about 44 years old when he joined the Corps in 1917. I know he was admitted to the hospital at Calais on the 11th July 1917 and was discharged on the 21 July 1917, what for I don't know.
I have his medals, the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
I would really like to know if Albert has any previous Military history.
Thanks for any help given.
