Hello Everyone

Let me introduce you to my MOST elusive but intriguing ancestor! If someone can find his parents for me or anything at all about him I will be over the moon.

James Jordan REID bc1822 in Dubliin (either he or his father was a guard to Queen Victoria?? and they were quite well off). They were landowners in England and also lived in Ireland for a time. He had a sister who lived in Ireland - name unknown. He was always known as James Jordan Reid. His childrens names were John Augustus, Christina, Elizabeth Jane, Theodore, Roderick, Walter, Mary Isabella and Albert Edward.

James came to Australia in c1845 supposedly as a remittance man. His death cert provides no parents names and he never married, although had 9 children to a married woman Eliza Waite nee Keene. He drowned in a waterhole behind his shack age 79.

I am not holding out much hope of finding him but would appreciate any help or guidance with this as I feel totally at a loss after 5 years of futile searching.

Thank you

Danielle
