What happened to Albert Leighton Lawson b 1904 in Kirkby Stephen (on his marriage his address was given as Thistleflat Farm, Crook, Durham). His father was George William Lawson (Farmer) and his mother was Elizabeth Alice Brown. He married Nina Dowson, b 1902 (address given as Greta House, Crook, Durham) in January 1924. Her father was Thomas William Dowson and her mother was Elizabeth Burrell. She was expecting a daughter Betty born in March 1924. On the marriage certificate are listed a Gordon Dowson and Eva Bane? as witnesses.

Betty (who died 2003) did not know her father or mother and was brought up in Doncaster. Subsequently discovered that Betty was brought up by her Grandmother Elizabeth Dowson nee Burrell) and also lived with her Auntie Sunny whom it transpires was actually Florence Dowson, Nina's younger sister.
