Trying to locate any relations of Bella Rae who gave her baby (my grandmother) up for adoption in April 1908. I have a few very old letters written between Bella and my adoptive grandparents (Mr David & Mrs Frances Jane Mitchell - nee Dall) dated between 10th April and 3rd June discussing the adoption, premium fee of £5.00 and that Mrs Rae would make no after claim for the baby. At her time of pregnancy, she resided C/O: Mrs Virtue, 47 Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh. The final letter is witnessed and signed by Bella Rae, Anne Virtue and a Mr James P Watson (Slater, Plasterer & Cement Worker, 21 Jeffrey Street, Edinburgh) but I do not know how Mr Slater came to become involved (was he the father ?). There is a letter from Mr Slater to Mrs Mitchell confirming that Mr Mitchell could call on him and that he would go with him but it doesn't specify where or what they're going to see.
