I am looking to see what information there is on Thomas Pettigrew. Born 1890 in Paisley, Scotland. He served in helping to build hospitals during the war. He did not die in the war. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the information Vera. That is not him. His Mum's name was Barbara and Father was James.
I don't know if he was in the Army. This is what I was given "he was in France during the 1914 -1918 war, before he was married. He was building hospitals for the wounded . He was a joiner to trade."
By that, I don't know if one had to be enlisted to partake or if one could go and help as a volunteer.

Thank you Vera. I still have no clue about him and the war but this is much more of a treasure to me than that information could be. I now have names of siblings and parents and what looks like a grandparent.

Can I pose a quick question? Is it not unusual to have husband and wife with a 25 year age difference? James pettigrew is the husband of Barbara and also the 64 year old Father of a newborn? It just seems like such a huge difference especially from those times.
Thanks again for the help you have given.

Lynette
I don't think it was all that unusual for a much older man to marry a much younger woman .......... you may well find that this was his second marriage.
It might be worth having a look on earlier censuses to see if James can be found with another wife.

BTW .............. if his mother's name was Janet HOUSTON as on the familysearch information, then he was probably staying with his mother's relations on the 1841 census!

Thank you Sylvia and SH Rat.
I keep getting a little information that seems to lead to an explosion of information.
Janet Houston is in the family. Will have to see where that link goes. I'm hoping Houston is a very popular name as it has popped up on both my Gran's side and Grandpa's side.
Thank you again!
