Probably all we can do here is wish you good luck.

I recommend you look around specifically for info on the net about war brides.

I googled:

"war brides" "united states" tracing

and this is one of the things I found:

http://www.geocities.com/us_warbrides/AmWarBrides/lost.html

"This page is to help you find lost family or friends. Hopefully to reunite lost fathers, mothers, aunts, or cousins. Those that married GIs or lost connections with family back home.
To add your request please email me with as much details as you can provide"

and there are links to various resources.

I know that in Canada, National Defence will forward a letter to the last known address of a service member.

You could also read this info sheet from the UK govt:

http://collections.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/Info41.pdf
"[PDF] Tracing American Service Personnel"

... but of course you don't know his name, so some of the usual routes won't help.

Good luck.

One suggestion is to be sure to include everything you know about Jean when you make inquiries, e.g.:

- full name
- exact date of birth
- place of birth
- parents' names

Oops, you don't know her date of birth. Do you know her parents' names? They could help, you never know.
