Found it! Albert and Ethel married in 1919 - 1st Quarter - Reigate - 2a 475.

Well, nothing between 1920 and 1930.

It looks a bit more complicated - once again!! Albert Flint is married to an Edith Flint on the 1901 census, and when I look up marriages for Ethel May Flint I don't come up with Albert. This part of the family tree is proving to be very complicated.

It looks like a trawl through the complete marrige index on Ancestry to find Albert and Ethel's marriage. Their cert will give you ages and father's names. That should bring you back to birth indexes that have been transcribed on freeBMD - use that rather than Ancestry as it has more records.

Hi all

I received Georgina Flint's birth certificate. It says her fathers name was Albert Ernest Flint and her mothers name was Ethel May Flint formerly Flint. They lived Reigate in Surrey.

Does anybody know how I can find out more about Ethel May Flint?

Thank you Nicola those census details are definatly his. I will see if I can find him again in 1891 and 1901 on Ancestry.

Hi. Albert Ernest birth cert is in the sub-district of St Peter Walworth in the County of Surrey - 1874.

Alfred Ernest death cert is in the sub-district of Reigate - 1953.

Right Georgina M flint married George WARE in SE Surrey 4th Qtr 1960

If this is her birth reference, then it looks as if she was illegitimate. Perhaps she just "made up" a deceased father to "save face" with the in-laws when she married. It was quite common for people to do this.

Very strange actually... because I can see that if he always went by the name of Ernest, that when he died, she "thought" his legal first name was Alfred, but it was actually Albert. But then to have got it down as Edward on his daughter's wedding certificate is a bit odd.

However, bear in mind that neither the marriage certifcate nor the death certificate information is verified to anything, it is as the informants give it at the time.

Guess they just knew him as Ernest!

(you could get Georgina's birth cert, but I think you are looking at the same person in all 3 cases)

some geographical location would help to help you find alternatives.

is this stuff coming from someone memory or do you have the certs in front of you?

i would think the death in 1953 could be her grandfather.

Hi, If anybody can help it would be great.

My partners nan Georgina Flint was born in about 1934. She died a couple of weeks ago.

Some relatives found her marriage certificate, she married on 1 October 1960. Its says on her marriage certificate that her fathers name was Edward Albert Flint (deceased).

A death certificate was also found for an Alfred Ernest Flint, who died in March 1953 (aged 80). We assumed this was her father. It says the informant, his widow, was Ethel May Flint.

However, a birth certificate was also found for an Albert Ernest Flint (also supposedly Georginas father), he was born in 1874. His father was John Flint and mother was Emma Flint (formerly Raitt).

I am so confused, how can the same person have 3 different names on 3 legal documents. I have ancestry membership and when I type them in I am not getting anywhere.

I know this is a lot for somebody to take in, especially at this time of night, but is anyone able to help me.
