i have a fair amount of help from several people on here for which i am really grateful.
There are a small family of people that i am missing and was wondering if someone wouldnt mind having another go on the 71 census for me.

I am lookinf for William Felix Wallan Born 1843 as William Felix Wallan Carrington. i have yet ti find a marriage entry for him. In the 81 census he is married to Sarah but i dont know her maiden name. There is also a boy af abt 4 by the 71 census- William Leonard Wallan. I have his marriage details. William the father was a commercial traveller-what ever that means?

Nor can i find a birth entry for William Leonard Wallan in 1867.

Would someone have a last look for me before i give up!

Kind regards louise

Hi Louise

Is he on the 1881 census under Wallan or Carrington. I see his death in 1886 under just Wallan.

What relation to him is William Leonard Wallan on the 1871? Where was this William Leonard born?

Gail.

William Felix Wallan and his siblings all were born with wallan carrington but all seemed to drop it from then on.

On the 61 and 81 census he is just william wallan.
Willian Leonard is the son of William Felix and was born 1867ish. William Felix was born in Newington Surrey and William his son was born St Pancras.

Could Willliam have been born just William, don't know if this is the right area.

William Wallen, 1866 Q4

Westminster is quite a way from st Pancras or Newington in surrey. (im assuming you are refering to the son) There have been a number of Wallans that were born under st pancras.
i will keep a record of it though as you never know!

Thanks by the way!

and another thread looking at the previous children stated that he is on the 1851 census aged 8 as Felix Wallan.

The thread 986652 came up under the search as "Frank A Wallen" aged 30 in 1881 - but when I look at the thread it now says Henry A Wallen.

Looby, could you post the 1881 ref that you found?

Hi Janice,

I suddenly realised that Leonard might appear more easily - there are 4 individuals as Leo* Wal* son of Sar* in England in 1871 - possibly this one?

Name: Leonard Waller
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1867
Relation: Son
Father's Name: William
Mother's Name: Sarah
Gender: Male
Where born: St Pancras

Civil Parish: Hammersmith
Ecclesiastical parish: St John
County/Island: London
Country: England

Registration district: Kensington
Sub-registration district: St Paul Hammersmith
ED, institution, or vessel: 15

Household schedule number: 238
Household Members: Name Age
William A Tucker 25 Lodger b London; ledger keeper
Leonard Waller 4
Sarah Waller 23 b Norfolk, *; mantle maker
William Waller 28; b Boro St Georges; Draper's collector

*Parish seems to be written B?kinsthorp; Genuki's list of parishes in Norfolk suggests it would be Baconsthorpe.

If the 28 year old is William Felix, and he died in 1886, then perhaps it is the 1881 entry we are looking for?

Ivy

Ivy Report 21 Jan 2008 17:59

Another possible birth ref for the Leonard above?

Name: Leonard C Walenn
Year of Registration: 1866
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Islington
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1b
Page: 265

[Ed: definitely not this one - seen in 1891 census with different family]

Sar* b 1846-1850 in Bac*rp* offers four alternatives:

Sarah Denny
Sarah Moore
Sarah A Skillings (d of Edmund)
Sarah Ann Skillings (d of Henry) - presumably her cousin?

Ivy

Ivy Report 21 Jan 2008 19:05

- and from 1861 census, there are a few more alternatives:

Sarah Dews
Sarah Pegg
Sarah Rowe
Sarah Futter

The two Skillings and Moore can be ruled out - they are on the 1871 Norfolk census, as yet unmarried; Pegg m alf Barst*d and Rowe married Amos Burling.

However, I haven't yet located Denny/Dews/Futter in 1871.

OK, reading previous threads does help!

From this thread:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards
.asp?wci=thread&tk=987034&px=0

(found thread by looking for Baconsthorpe) it seems that William and wife Sarah are back with mum Emma/Laura in 1881; posting details for ref on this thread:

Name: William Wallen
Age: 27
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1854
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Sarah
Gender: Male
Where born: Walworth, Surrey, England

Civil Parish: St Pancras
County/Island: London
Country: England

Street address: 126 Carlton Rd
Condition as to marriage: Married

Occupation: Collector

Registration district: Pancras
Sub-registration district: Kentish Town
ED, institution, or vessel: 28

Household Members: Name Age
Ellen Wallen 9 b Hampstead
Herbert Wallen 2 b Hampstead
Martha Wallen 5 b Hampstead
Nancy Wallen 7 b Hampstead
Sarah Wallen 23 b Baconsthorpe
William Wallen 27

The counters ticks have masked the first digit of the age for both Sarah and William.

Hi Louise,

Could you confirm that you have the above census extracts are the family you were wanting info on?

If so, it is the marriage in the 1860s of William (from Surrey) and Sarah (from Baconsthorpe that you are after; and the birth registration of their son born abt 1867?
