Still looking for John Samuel POOLE on the 1841 census, possibly with his parents James & Ann.

Thank you:

previous post:
Looking for John Samuel POOLE, wife Elizabeth and any children please on 1841. John was born 1805 in Deptford Kent.

Just adding another small bit of info.

John Poole's (c1805) parents were James Poole and Ann either Lovesay or Stephens.

I am also looking for Charles Poole's marriage to Charlotte Amelia ??. Charles was born 1799 Deptford Kent and had only one child in Rotherhithe 1830.

Any help appreciated,

KeithInFujairah

I this possibly his marriage? Would tie in with the birth of Emma.

Name: John Samuel Poole
Year of Registration: 1845
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: St Martin in The Fields
County: Middlesex
Volume: 1
Page: 189

Two possible brides
Elizabeth Archer 1845 Jul-Aug-Sep St Martin in The Fields Middlesex
Elizabeth Archur 1845 Jul-Aug-Sep St Martin in The Fields Middlesex
Elizabeth Robbins 1845 Jul-Aug-Sep St Martin in The Fields Middlesex

If this is likely to be the marriage, I wonder if they were in London for the 1841 census.

Possible birth for Emma.

Thanks Keith, its definately possible but I was thinking they might have married before the birth of France (francis?) William, age 13 on the 51 census . John and Elizabeth might have had older children given their ages on the 51.

So I'm thinking the marriage might have been 1837 or earlier.

Hopefully an 1841 will shed some light.

Thanks for your help,
Selena

Selena, Frances is recorded as a servant on the 1851 census.

Thanks, so Frances William is a girl! LOL.

I am actually descended from Charles Poole brother to John Samuel but am trying to go sideways to help go backwards. Have only just discovered they were brothers.

Thanks for the help,

Here is Charles and Charlotte on the 41 mistranscribed as Cool. I

Charlotte Cool abt 1811 Surrey, England Rotherhithe Surrey View Record John Cool abt 1832 Surrey, England Rotherhithe Surrey
Charles Cool Age: 35 Estimated birth year: abt 1806

I would expect John Samuel to have stayed south of the river but anything is possible.

Still hoping for an 1841 for John, Elizabeth and Frances William Poole if anyone has a spare moment.

Selena, I suspect they were not married to each other in 1841, cannot see John Samuel, and cannot identify which Elizabeth he married. If you got Emmas birth cert, it would give you the mothers maiden name possibly enabling her to be traced in 1841.

Good luck, got to go back to work.

I am off out to a lantern parade (!) now with kids but will check back later to see if any kind soul can find John and daughter Frances on the 1841.

Just wondering if John was married to someone else before Elizabeth, given the 10 year gap between children. Maybe he is not with Elizabeth on 41

Thanks,

I'm so Sorry! I didn't see that or misunderstood about Frances William. How many times did I need telling!

I am wondering if John could be with his parents in 1841 if they were still alive. The parents were John & Ann Poole, married around 1800.

Any help is much appreciated,

You probably know that adult ages were rounded down in the 1841.

Sue and Jim, many thanks for replying.

Unfortunately I don't think the James & Ann that Sue found are not mine. Another couple with the same names as my family married around the same time. I have had a lot of trouble sorting it out.

Here are the two marriages:

JAMES POOL
Spouse: ANN LOVESAY Family
Marriage: 12 SEP 1802 Saint Paul, Deptford, Kent, England

I think the following is my couple as their son Charles was baptised in 1801, although born 1799 before marriage.

JAMES POOLE
Spouse: ANN STEPHENS Family
Marriage: 27 OCT 1800 Saint Paul, Deptford, Kent, England

According to the IGI the two couples produced 15 children between them from 1799 (my charles) through to 1822.

Unfortunately I don't think Jim's find is them either. Father was definately James and we have no know connection with Islington. Family seem to have stayed in Deptford and/or Rotherhithe.

I do appreciate the help, many thanks

Now I am confused;

1841
John Poole abt 1806 St Mary Islington East Middlesex

Selena in South East London Report 23 Nov 2007 15:38

Okay Jim you're right it could be him but Islington really threw me! Sorry.

My John Samuel was born 1805 Deptford.

Is Francis listed as a son/daughter - could this be the France William listed as servant on the 1851?

I'm wondering who John Poole 1832 is? Their son? Also I would be very grateful if you could let me know what their professions are.

I do really appreciate your help, sorry if I confused you.

Well that should eliminate.Only John's occupation in 1841
GOLDSMITH
Frances is female

Selena in South East London

Selena in South East London Report 23 Nov 2007 16:01

That made me laugh - no goldsmiths in our family.

I'm sorry but I don't know what John was doing in 1851. I expect he might have been a sawyer as his father was. Later generations lived in Rotherhithe and were also sawyers watermen etc.

Thanks again,
Selena
