Hi Graham

Henry Ainge married Jane Bettison at St. Mary, Newington in 1835. One of the witnesses was Charlotte Linton, who was Janes sister.
My 2x g.grandfather was an Edward Bettison who was also married in St. Mary Lambeth in 1834.
Charlotte Linton was an informant on one of the death certs of one of Edwards children.
I believe Edward to be Jane and Charlottes brother, but as yet have not found a baptism to confirm things.
I have no idea of the Ainges origins, but if in Lambeth at the date you mention then may very well be connected to this Henry.
What was the first name of your Ainge witness.

Sue (formerly Bascat)

Do any of your Ainge family have connections with the Wells family or to Tysoe in Warwickshire?

My great great grandfather was married in Lambeth in 1834 and a member of the Ainge family was a witness. Wells and Ainge are connected by married in Tysoe.

Best regards

Graham Wells

Looks like Jane Ainge married the chap next door. In 1851 there is a William Woolford living next door to the Ainges.

There is a death of a Jane Woolford in Lambeth in 1856.

No Pete I don't know what he did. I am loathe to buy any certs as they are only a possible twig (which I have got to prove)on my tree, so not what I consider extra important as the direct line.

Looks like bread maker to me as well.

It will say on Eliza's birth certificate.

I just searched Lambeth for Mary, born 1838 +/- 1 year and out she popped!

I couldn't work out Henry's occupation though.

Road maker? Bread maker? Dunno I give in. Hopefully you already know what he did!

Pete, your a genius!!!
The image is defintely Ainge. I knew they'd be somewhere under some obscure spelling. Trouble was this tired old brain couldn't find it.

Many thanks

Perhaps the certificates for Eliza will provide addresses for the family which may tally with the 1841 census info

Can anyone find Henry and Jane Ainge in 1841 with daughter Mary aged about three.

The family are here in 1851 - HO107; Piece: 1572; Folio: 303; Page: 24
Jane is a widow by this time as Henry died in 1849.

I have been unable to find them, any help appreciated.
