Hi Shirley,
I have THomas married to Mary Ann AScroft St Catherines Wigan in 1867. Then when Thomas died she married Jerome Stringfellow in 1878 At ST Catherines Wigan. These were off a website for Wigan Marriages that someone found for me. On the 1881 census Jerome is with wife Mary A and William and Richard Finch and 2 Stringfellow children from this marriage at Stanley Row Wigan.

Thanks for that. I think that is them as my mother in law was born in Stanley Street formerly called Stanley row. It was probably spelt wron on census.

THanks again for that.I think that will definately be the right on. St Catherines Church is just at the end of the streets where my in laws where brought up.
I know there were a lot of Finches in Standish but ar not related and Heap is probably Heapey which is near Chorley.

No . I don't know anything more about the Finch family . My mother in law was Richards daughter and she has passed away . She never knew her grand parents and did not talk about the rest of her family only that I think she the last one of 11 children.

Thomas Finch Born 1848 Wigan and died in the Moss Pit Disaster of September 1871.We know he married Mary Ann Ascroft in 1867 but that is all the family know about him. Any information would be much appreciated.
Also can someone look up a Richard Finch, his son, on the 1901 census in Wigan possibly Stanley Street. He was born in1871 Wigan and married a Jane Fairhurst in 1892.
