James Erly, born 1882 in Ossett, killed in the Great War 1915, aged 24, buried in Ypres, Flanders, also served in the Boer War

The notation is just a little message beside the name on the transcribed version giving another possible name. I think someone just got confused because the next family was named Smales but didn't have a head, it started with daughter and they must have thought she was a daughter of James.
They're Erly on the 1881 and 1901 census.

There's a marriage on Free BMD of James Erly and Margaret Moran March quarter 1871, Wakefield which covers Horbury.
Think it might be them?
