Hi again Selena,
I do have this marriage certificate, but it hasn't helped me much.
Mary was the daughter of Richard Disakell, a plasterer.
Their witnesses were George Bennett and Susan? (dodgy handwriting) Wilson.

Well, I'd be sorely tempted to buy that certificate! Might be some clues in witnesses etc.

good luck

Yes Selena,
I wondered this too.
Mary married a Richard Chick.
George Chick was living with Edward and Jane in 1891.

Just a thought, do you have any birth certificates from Jane and Edward's children? Might be a bit clearer on there.

Thanks very much all for all your efforts.
Yes, Glitterbaby, you have the right family in 1891 when Jane was married to Edward Foskett.
Maureen, I'll have a look now at the Desturnells.
Thanks again everyone.

There are actually three entries when you view the image.

Just tried to Google the surname - one found no results - a second possibly German - the third looked a bit like Russian

There is a family on 1871 called Desturnnell - best I can find

Hmmm... the ancestry version of a Googlewhack!

On the marriage index the entry appears three times Disakell. Disahell and Disatill, so it would seem the orginal transcriber of the record in 1872 couldn't read it.

Not found a good match in 1871 or 1861

Was trying a posible Dickens family that I can find in 1851 and 1871 but not found them in 1861.

Good luck with the search

Had a look on FreeBMD and familysearch but no one of Disakell at all!

The nearest phonetically seems to be Dukesall.

Hello All,
I've searched the censuses in vain for any trace of Jane Disakell born Shoreditch in 1853.
All I know of her prior to her marriage in 1872 is that she was the daughter of William Disakell, a Labourer.
I haven't found her birth record, but she states Shoreditch as place of birth on the 1891 and 1901 censuses.
Who knows what variation on her name she may have been transcribed by.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Many thanks,
Kim
