Thank you all for your replies - I think I just need someone to tell me that I shall probably never find his birth as I seem to have exhausted all avenues I can think of. I looked into all Daniels born Outwell for his time frame but none of them tied in. You are probably right, he was never registered and therefore the chance of finding his birth family are nil. Maybe one day....

Can't quite put my finger on this

1861 Danil Roddy, born Outwell with grandparents in Norfolk
1871 Daniel Ready on a vessel in Thanet
1881 Daniel Atkins on a vessel in Thanet

Not sure what I am getting at but the place of birth is the same????


1861 this family has children from Outwell but the ages are not a match?

Birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875, so he may not have been registered.

According to various records I have, my G-Grandfather DANIEL ATKINS was born in Outwell, Norfolk c. 1854/55. I have been unable to find any birth record for him on Ancestry; all I know is that his father was also DANIEL ATKINS a Carpenter. I have been able to trace him from the date of his marriage in 1875 but nothing for previous years. Can anyone help solve this 7 year mystery?
