Searching for the Daughter of HELEN MAY HERN nee CHRISTODOULOU (born 1940 and died 1970 at Dorset, England)

Helen May Christodoulou (daughter of Phyllis and George Christodoulou) married Graham BA Hern Jan/Feb Mar 1961. Sadly Helen died in 1970. Helen and Graham lived at 59 Petersham Rd, Creekmoor, Poole. Dorset, England. Helen and Graham did not have children. Helen and Graham may have spent some years apart.

It is known that Helen had a daughter, as relatives recall the child accompanying Helen on family visits and was thought to be 6 – 8 years old at the time. We do not know the first name or surname of the child. Helen may have registered the child’s name as Hern, Christodoulou or in the fathers’ name. The child may have been born before or after Helen married Graham.

We know that Helen spent some of the early "blitz" years living with relatives of her mother Phyllis in the Bournemouth area. Phyllis was living in London during and after the war. Helens grandmothers name was Ellen Toms nee CHERRETT (Ellen was the mother of Phyllis). Ellen lived in Dorset.

Helens parents separated sometime around 1948 /1950. Helens mother Phyllis eventually went to Canada via the United States. It is thought that Helen went with her. They may have joined family or stayed with relatives of the Merrifield family. She may have done for a while but returned to Dorset.

Ellen and Phyllis were very friendly with the family MERRYFIELD (the name Reginald has been mentioned) who we believe lived at Manson Road, Poole. I have written to all the Merrifield names in the Poole / Dorset area as well as all the occupants at Mansfield Road, Poole. It is believed that the Merrifield family that lived there are now deceased with no children. It is possible that the Merrifield family adopted or fostered Helens child when Helen died.

Helens husband is unable to help. He has said that Helen did live with the “Murryfields” but that although he did know of the child could not help.

I am trying to find Helens daughter and anyone who may have known Helen Hern nee Christodoulou who could tell me about her short life.

Thank you for reading this. I apologise, should you feel that I am wasting your time. If you feel you can add something to help me, my contact email is [email protected]
