certificate help please

Does anyone know when we buy certs..

1) Are they photocopies of the original

2) Are they new ones hand written by someone.


I have a cert and part of the age is missing, it is proving to be extremely hard work as I cant find his birth cert due to the age being unreadable.

I have ordered certs on what I think it could be but is proving to be wrong all the time.

Unless he is totally missing from the births records.

Do I have to rebuy this to find it out?

Its his age. Looks like 22

I have studied it and studied it but cant seem to get it right.

its a definite 2 and then something else. Ive tried to look at other numbers and it really looks like a 2.

This is 1922, which would make his birth 1900.
His wife is 19.

as for you q some of the certs i have received have been copied others have been hand wrote.could you not phone them and let them know that you cannot read it?

have you tried looking for the father benjamin on 1901 census ? i see your problem on trying to find a birth there is a lot john simpsons on the births ,
