Can anyone with a global Ancestry sub please look up the immigration records for a James Richmond born approx 1834, as there is a possible English James Richmond in the 1881 census. He was from Burnham, Essex. Just wondering if I can prove the one in the Canadian Census is the my James from Burnham.

Many thanks

That same one is on the 1901 Canadian census where his birthdate is given as 4 June 1838, England and year of immigration 1856.
Mind you his age is given as 46 on the 1881 census but 62 in 1901. I'm sure he's the same guy, he has the same wife Annie and son James born 1880.

Margaret... thank you for that.

Would I ever be able to ascertain anything else about him from the Canadian records to prove it is the correct James?

I'm not sure what to suggest, Diane.
I had a look through the Ontario Vital Statistics to see if I could find his marriage. They often state where a person was born. I couldn't find anything.
Don't give up, I'll keep looking.

Tracy.. good thinking... except unless they were born in the village he was born in, I am no closer to proving it is the same James....

I see what you're saying though...
