Find Ancestors

I have James Long born 11/12/1901 Liverpool lost at sea in 1922. We cannot find where he is buried. We think he may have been washed up on one of the Scilly Isles.
Can any one help please?

Was he's body found? if it was never found then there surely won't be an actual grave.

You could always contact the Local records office in that area and see what they recommend.

where did you get the information that he was "lost at sea" ?

Just wondering if it was a private vessel, or a commercial/navy vessel that he was an employee of?

He was a stoker on the Cunard line and my uncle has been doing the tree for years and told me about this person and asked me to try and find where he is buried.

You could try contacting information people on the scilly's or even their museum-they have lists of things like that and they're ally helpful there. Try googling for the Scilly Isles museum I'm sure they'll help you in the right direction.

Do you have his death certificate?

Cunard may well also have archives then... also there may have been mention in the newspapers of the incident..

I have had a look in Marine Deaths for 1922 but there is no James Long registered.

Thanks very much for that Chris. Typical of my family it is as though they didn't exist. The mother ship must have returned and picked them all up. I best watch out! lol.
