Thanks to all of you. The explanation of the "lordosis of spine) gives me some thought.

My grandfather died the year before I was born, so I didn't know him. However, my sister remembers him well from when she was about 7 years old. He was not a pleasant man and my father told me that he plushed all three of his sons into army life as soon as they were old enough....perhaps because he had to retire early from his service? He certainly brought them all up to be tough with very little compasion for any of them.

I have tried to look up information on his regiment, but cannot find the 175th RGA, perhaps I should try again.

I am finding reading the service record difficult. It gives posting information but I do not understand it which is a shame, because I'd like to know what part he played in the war, even though it was for a short term.

Many thanks to all of you who have helped with my inititial query.

The final form stated that he has pronounced spinal lordosis. Excessive inwards curvature of the spine.

I have found my grandfathers WW1 Pension on Ancestry and wondered if anyone can help make sense of it and explain it to me, not knowing anything about the army and war information available.

He is Frederick Palmer born 1892 (first one up - has 5 pages) Coven St, Wolverhampton, wife Elsie Robinson.

It states he is in RGA - what's that?

and was a gunner/driver.

can't read what it says about his discharge reason ".......of Spine"

Hope someone can help.
