Thanks for the update........so you have no documents to back up the idea that she was born in Norfolk. Is that correct?

If not, please tell us where you got the info.

And please tell us how old she said she was when she married..................

Hi Reg,
She is my grandmother on my father's side, she died when my father was a boy and his father destroyed everything to do with her. She was living in Leeds when she got married in 1907 to Wilfred Rigg and my father was born in 1909 in Dewsbury, Yorks. I think she had cousins called Hilda and George from Norfolk.or maybe they were brother and sister, I don't know.
Thanks
Vivien

The only one I could find was on 1901 census but she was on as a visitor at someones house, so it didn't give me any clues. I am really stuck with this one and am thinking the only thing I can do is to go to Norfolk.

Only possilble I can see on freebmd is Anna Elllis:

Births Jun 1880 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ELLIS Anna Aylsham 4b 89

You could try Norfolk transcription archives or freereg? Where have you found her so far? How do you know dads name and her place of birth.

There is very little Norfolk records on the IGI, the Norfolk churches wouldnt hand over the info to the Mormons.

No-one matching your criteria on 1891 census

ErikaH Report 9 Oct 2007 15:52

Have you looked on the IGI for a baptism?

Other than that, for a reg'n, you would need to acces the full bmd records.

Have you found her on a census? If she was born pre-1881, you should find her on the 1881.......it's free.

Does anyone know how I could find a birth or christening record if it doesn't appear on freebmd?
