I am trying to find decendants of David Mottram b. 1873 in Alderley, Cheshire. He appears in the 1901 census but I am finding difficulty finding him in the 1891. This one would obviously tell me his parents and siblings. Please help this newcomer to family trees.
Thanks
Alex Oldham

Slight expansion on Helens census info:

Household:

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability
Joseph MOTTRAM Head M Male 50 Alderley, Cheshire, England Platelayer Railway
Charlotte MOTTRAM Wife M Female 49 Scotland Laundress
John MOTTRAM Son U Male 18 Snelson, Cheshire, England Engine Cleaner Railway (...)
Rosina MOTTRAM Daur Female 13 Alderley, Cheshire, England
David MOTTRAM Son Male 8 Alderley, Cheshire, England Scholar
Alexander MOTTRAM Son Male 5 Alderley, Cheshire, England Scholar

And in 1871 in Welsh Road indexed as Matterson:

Joseph Mottram c1831 Nether Alderley, Railway Platelayer
Charlotte c1834 Scotland
Fanny c1861 Nether Alderley
John c1863 Nether Alderley
Joseph c1864 Nether Alderley
Jeanette c1866 Nether Alderley
Rosina c1868 Nether Alderley
Samuel c1870 Nether Alderley

In 1881 Fanny is in Welsh Road with her grandparents:

Peter Henshall c1811 Wilmslow, Farmer
Ann c1809 Macclesfield

In 1891 Fanny is with Charlotte now a widow, but she is noted as stepdaughter.

In 1861 Joseph c1831 is lodging in Welsh Road and noted as a widower.

Perhaps that explains why freeBMD shows a Fanny Mottram birth and a Fanny Mottram death in Mar 1861.

A Joseph Mottram married Mar 1860 Stockport, a Fanny Norbury is on the same page. There is a Fanny Norbury c1832 in Nether Alderley on the 1851 census and in 1841 lived in Welsh Row.

With another Norbury family in Welsh Row is:

Ann Mottram c1811
Joseph c1831
Betty c1833

In 1851 Joseph Mottram c1831 and his sister Betty c1833 are shown as the stepchildren of Peter and Ann Henshall.

Check out freeBMD in Macclesfield for more info such as:

Jeanette married Samuel Whitridge Birtles in 1890.
